Sounds like why when I had the opportunity to leave Cleveland; I made a bee line to the U-Haul garage to line up my truck and car trailer. When I left on a very busy morning looking down I-480 and going west from a west end suburb, going out of the city, and looking at the traffic entering the city ( 4 to 5 lanes going east and 4 to 5 lanes going west with everyone moving at 80 mph/129 kph except the east lane which was moving at 35 mph/56 kph with no more than 1 to 2 car lengths between each other) it hit me that I was darn lucky to survive all this without any major incidents. I also remember saying to myself, I can not wait to get out of this traffic. Either I was lucky or God had my Guardian Angle on 24/7 over time pay for the last 7 to 8 years. I was missing the people I knew but not the place and above all not the crime and traffic. ( at that time it was a 10 mile traffic jam into the city and getting worse every year & has gotten worse every year) That is why I am now living in a place like Melfort but in the USA. I am not recommending Melfort to you but if you want to stay in Canada then perhaps you need to find a place like Melfort or some nice far flung suburb of Calgary so that you can visit a city now and then. Take your time as you can travel around and work anywhere you think that you might want to stay, and for as long as it takes you to find your permanent nesting place. This is a luxury that few humans experience on this planet.

I have lived in Toronto many years i originally as a child grew up in Mississauga. Both cities have changed with time. One of the saddest things is that many people don’t feel safe in Toronto. I have many great memories I still currently live in Toronto I can afford my place a one bedroom in west Toronto. But at the same time my landlady’s. Doesn’t provide what’s necessary. Being no doorbell inadequate heating mice around at times. However I put up with it because the alternative is not there at this time \nI work hard like many do. But at the end of the day. If anyone (specially in their 20's and well educated) in India planning to move out of India for better opportunities then they can consider East Asia.\nPros: Safety, Stable economy, less competition (among foreigners for jobs), opportunity to learn new language, Comparatively closer to India both geographically and culture wise (predominantly collectivistic culture compared to individualistic in west)\nCons: Need to learn language (Must) to get the best opportunities and move up the ladder, Food (if you don't know how to cook or adjustment issues with different kind of foods), at start may feel socially isolated due to language and culture barriers.

There is one thing that the Sardaji did not mention. Perhaps he is too young to comment on this. As you age in a foreign country, you need acceptance from the society, and you need to be able to integrate. I have lived in the UK and Germany (10 years) before coming to the US (in 1987). In the UK it does not matter, there are enough of us. The US is very friendly and you are accepted. Germany, France and other West European countries will not accept you as an equal. You can make friends as a student, but as a worker you do not make new friends anymore. I do not know what the situation is in Canada. Perhaps some one can comment.

(Unless in brand new area with all newcomers). Only advice is stay away from north west...that is a nasty area. Rest of city is great. Downtown not best to live in. Work in is fine. Winnipeg was best city.

Saskatchewan is not ALL flat. There's an area in the south-west area called the Cypress Hills that has mountains which are of a higher elevation than those in Quebec. Quite a bit of the southern area is hilly and ranching country. There are also valleys like the Qu'Appelle Valley ,north and east of Regina. Northern Sask. is heavy forest with a thousand lakes.

The best way to do this as an immigrant is basically live like a pauper and use that exchange rate to invest at home. Don't live a comfortable life in the West. That's how people are making it work, because the work culture is toxic over there and strenuous. If you don't have a high flying job, you have to work 2 to 3 jobs and rack up overtime when they allow it to make good money to invest over there and at home.

Having visited Nairaland and dated a Nigerian lady, I can tell that Nigeria is not heaven on earth. The country has substantial problems related to violence, corruption, poverty, and absence of basic infrastructure. A reason exists to explain why thousands of Nigerians want to leave their native country for the west. And, the few who are successful are not in any rush to return!

Translation: I’m a lazy foreigner and don’t won’t to work hard. There’s a reason why NOBODY goes to Nigeria and everyone comes to the west. Just go back to Nigeria

This is an interesting overview of Canada and its many issues. I would love to see a follow up video or two looking into these same issues but from a few different perspectives. 1) regionally - Canada is very diverse so our regions are quite different in culture, problems and cause of each. The major regions are: Maritimes/Ontario/Quebec/Prairies/West Coast/ Territories. 2) because of our diverse landscape different races are attracted to different areas. I have not studied this impact on our racism and political issues but would love to see someone like you do so. It appears to me that immigrants are disproportionately gathered along the US/Canada border and big cities, particularly east and west coast. First Nations are disproportionately populated in Rural and northern areas where resources overall are less available to all races. I would expect to find that this population disbursement would also reflect in our political leadership. For example more populated cities are far more likely to have immigrant own businesses and politicians, In rural and northern communities politicians are more likely to be white because First Nations politicians would be more inclined to work within the First Nations political channels where they can actually do more good for their communities. 3) The diversity that makes up 'white' as a race. It appears to me that Canada historically has been more inclined to attract 'White' races versus other 'colours'. We have large populations of British, Swedish, Irish, Russian, Ukrainian, French, Norwegian, and Polish to name a few. All of which have large diversity in their culture and history but are often classified as 'white'. 4) The massive impact the past 5 + years of politics and world affairs have had on the divisions within Canada. Personally I see and feel far, far more judgements between races, economics and regions than ever before.

Look, not even if you were the former president of developing country should you permanently migrate with the mentality that you're going to get the best jobs in the West and also be insulated from discrimination. It won't happen because it's not your country! It is only when you lower your expectations that you'll actually see success. Semplicita!

The West reminds me of junk fast foods-Looks good and taste awful

Wow, I finally hear someone saying that Vancouver is ugly. I thought I was the only one. I’m from Europe so it was super obvious to me that there is no comparison with European cities and I always cringe when I hear that Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities. It’s literally just the surrounding that is beautiful, not the city. Having said that, I disagree that this is common with all North American cities. Even with my European eyes, I adore the older North American architecture. I think architecture in Chicago is great. San Francisco is beautiful (without the homeless), so to me Vancouver is ugly even in the context of North America. Most of downtown Vancouver has either new boring glass condos or the older ones that look like buildings from communist era in Eastern Europe. And I became really upset about that because this beautiful spot on the west coast deserved beautiful city, it should have been Canadian San Francisco. Original in its own way, but beautiful. But it’s really not. I’m sure it was way more interesting city 50 years ago. I saw old photos and it had some character.

Canada won't be my choice in leaving my country, the west even in consideration but leaving the country isn't mostly due to financial struggles, it has something to do with the future and avoidance of insecurities and restrains due to the government in Nigeria in particular. Nigeria looks like all hope is going to be lost and no one wants to get trapped when that time comes, when they see themselves with alot of potential ahead of them. I think one of the biggest things he didn’t mention is the gap between rich and poor in African countries is huge. People will always come to the west to try and make a ‘better’ life for themselves. The African countries I have been to are beautiful the people for the most part are welcoming but like the west there are many challenges and poverty and corruption is in Africa just as much as the US, Canada, Europe and the rest of the world. Because the west has better training standards then other parts of the developing world, where if you have enough money influence you can buy a doctors degree, people in the west are more productive and work harder, they don’t slack off off as much. He is just homesick, the country he Immigrated to has to verify he is up to the countries standards can’t have you operating improperly or misdiagnose patients. Pretty simple really.

As an employer. would he appreciate his employees getting paid to waste either and get paid for it? A reason developimg countries aren't doing well is because they fail to understand this, hence the waste of time and everything running late and not as quality. If it was great, why are the developing countries' economies so bad. As an immigrant myself, I know, understand, and appreciate this and think until developing countries appreciates this, they will continue to struggle.

It’s interesting….I am desperate to move to Africa…not sure if east or west, but on day I am going to live there. \nThe way that people throw away everything, driver, stable income, own home fully built, to come to the west to wash white peoples bums, astonishes me. \nThey don’t know what they have. \nThe west is not a home its a place you may make money, as well as face so much discrimination etc.
