I'm so glad I moved to Vancouver. It's not great but a little better and it's warmer. Doesn't rain as much as said. I'll take a bit of rain instead of the freezing cold. Toronto is much more fun. The Alhambra is there and christians and muslims live side by side. When I contemplated moving to Canada I really wanted to move to Toronto because a friend of mine who lived there really hyped it up and I was extremely impressed with its diversity. but as I got to know Toronto via talking to my friend every day and seeing how she struggled to pay rent and her bills I became more and more turned off by the ridiculous cost of living. Also, the fact that they don't even have unlimited data plans just boggles my mind.

Very interesting video, all was well explained. But the situation it's the same here in Europe, and maybe is even worse, in Italy you die of hunger! Salary is so LOW and never changed in more than 20 years, and rent of houses is crazy! It's insanely high and with your salary you can't pay the rent (even if you are a doctor, nurse etc..) you don't have money to buy an house and if you pay a rent you can't spend money on anything else. People here live thanks to their parents savings (who has this luck). The situation is very bad, young people can't find a job because there are no jobs available, it's really hard to live. Cities are dirty and degraded. In public health care you have to wait months and years for a visit, you are forced to go private and pay a lot of money. So I think the situation is serious everywhere. If you know a place where you are paid well and there are no such problems let me know.

Canada can be a really hard place to live. Too many people competing for limited resources- story as old as time. But throw in large immigrant population whose culture is a mismatch for existing infastructure. You are going to get growing pains.\nBTW, the so called studies /polls/surveys are a joke. This is my 13th year in Canada, I am so sad to see the change, I really hope it will become a better country again with Trudeau stepping down. But we also have to be fair that there are not many countries become better since COVID. Many of you leaving or planning to leave Canada are more like rich country retirees taking advantage of the wage and currency differences between rich and poor countries. So let’s put it this way, if many of you have not worked your whole life here in Canada, will you still have a quality of life in your home countries, such as Southeast Asia or South America? I doubt majority of the population there is make a good money and having great work life balance, and everyone there could afford a decent retirement life. what is more close to nowadays reality is people coming here and hoping they could have a better paid job and settle down here, but most of them found out they are struggling to even maintain their normal life in this country, so they left. For those who came years ago, they made a saving which may not be enough to support a good retirement life here, but is more than enough in other countries, they also choose to flee. Then those successful immigrants will stay here with the option to travel anywhere they want. My son's classmate's grandfather immigrated to Canada long time ago who later become a well known cardiologist and was rewarded as one of the top 25 immigrants Award, all three daughters are now specialists too. I really hope Canada could rise again!

West and East are too different.\nIt's better to live in environment that really suits you.

I left Canada in 2018, main reasons: high taxes and few opportunities, woke government and just really a boring cold country. No regrets at all .Much happier now

To make matters worse, there are some who become “Canadians of Convenience” who, once becoming Canadian citizens and holding Canadian passports, leave Canada to go live in their countries and when things blow off, and their countries become war torn, they ask the Canadian government to pay for their flights back, not to mention those who get sick outside the country and come back to get treated at the expense of government health care. And after all is done, they once again leave the country. Really?

It is the political correctness that has really damaged Canada. It used to be a country of people that were liberal and tolerant in the sense of allowing people to live their own lives according to their own believes. Now, there is a strict code of deference to a totalizing ideology of “equity” that is anti-democratic, and intolerant.

I hope it worked out for you man… as a Canadian, I can say that as much as Canadians love to pretend like we’re super open and welcoming, that’s largely not the case. I’ve witnessed some really disgusting treatment of immigrants first hand, and I have a lot of friends/ coworkers who are immigrants from Latin America and the Middle East, and I’ve heard a lot from them about the micro aggressions that they get from Canadians everyday, the dirty looks they get when speaking their native languages in public, and the immense pressure to assimilate. What you were saying about feeling like you’re always reminded that you’re an outsider in Australia, I also hear that a lot from immigrants here in Canada… I hope that Canada can be a better place for you, and you can feel more at home here, but the u fortunate truth is that the idea that Canadians just welcome immigrants with open arms and that everyone is welcome here is largely a myth… a lot of Canadians unfortunately are just xenophobic, racist, nationalistic dickheads and they’re not shy about it

I really don't care that you're trying to make a better life for their family or for themselves in America stay away we are full if we weren't full and we had room for them I wouldn't care that they're coming to make a better life but when we don't have any more room you better get out of the country or stay away or they should find out what happens when they don't listen to the USA the country they want to come to.

Shuttle between HKG, USA , Toronto/Canada and Shanghait/China It seems your 10 points cover pretty well about the subject. \n\nHere I have some experiencese to share about the OHIP. yse. it is free system for us. However, the quality is rather inferior to HKG or even in Maindland China. The Dentistry is not free, by the way. and other specialist, such as Protates (Yes, for aged man like me ), the quality (cure results) are really 2 levels down. To my disappoiment. \n\nThe Taxes and service charge make up the bill almost 30% extrate, while in in NY State, it could be half of it. \n\nTThe Canada now is NOT a country, it is another state of America, Canada has been administrated as a genocide government but it keeps barking on the world about others but seldom think about herself of all the wrong doings. You moved to Canada at the worst time, this is rough for everyone now, well because of politics and stuff. BEFORE 2016 life was great! I was able to buy a house in GTA, find jobs no problem, lots of jobs even during 2008, make good money to rent and save for house. And go out every weekend wow! How about now? You are lucky if you can find a place to rent! Current gov really messed things up! Too bad new comers will just think this is normal, and now know how bad the gov made it for everyone and still making it worse with making up new taxes making everyone poorer, except themselves.

Nothing is ever going to get fixed. Any time these cities get expensive they never really go back down. Look at New York, once it got expensive when has it ever gone down?

My parents immigrated to Canada from Romania when I was nine and I have lived there for 20 years. I can’t remember ever really liking it, but I was made to believe that I was so lucky to be living there but always felt like it wasn’t the place for me. I just couldn’t find any other country where I actually felt good until a Moroccan friend convinced me to visit his country and I fell in love! I think from the moment I started planning my trip there I had already fallen in love with the country! For four years I kept going back until I finally had the courage to settle there! It’s been almost 7 years and I still love it as much as in the beginning (with all its pros and cons, because obviously there are also plenty of cons like in every other country, but the beauty and the people’s kindness and warmth far outweigh any of them:)

Hi Alina, If you can stand the quietness, relaxed lifestyle, cold weather , cheaper rent, and friendly people, live in the maritimes, Manitoba or Saskatchewan. There is a share of rude people (more like drivers)in Calgary and Toronto. Both are still considered fast-paced!\nPeople in Calgary used to be very friendly in the 90s, not as friendly anymore! No where in Canada is perfect though.\nI will really choose Lethbridge and Medicine Hat over Calgary or Edmonton. Calgary is getting more busy and people more in a rush!

I moved to Canada in 2016, I have a university degree in engineering from a European country, and I have realized without a Canadian degree and experience it's really hard to find a job, I did my research and started to learn coding online. I worked on my Software dev portfolio (github, resume) and started to apply for jobs. Now working as a dev for a tech company in Toronto. I was paying a few years back 1400 for a basement... I working remotely so I decided to leave Canada and move to a more affordable country now I pay 1000 for an amazing Budapest downtown apartment.

One of the primary aspects of Toronto that people applaud is the multiculturalism. They say this even whilst shaking their heads in wonder at how rotted the city is at its core. They never make the obvious connection: A citizenry whose heart is lodged elsewhere is never going to build and maintain a high quality life and structure in a place to which they have no fundamental personal commitment. When 'home' is always somewhere else, the citizenry is just going through the motions but not really in for the long run. Often people are working to send money 'home', which is definitely not Toronto.

Everywhere is the same in terms of inflations , infect having friends in Europe I know is even worse over there .
