I appreciate international students and their contributions to our universities very much, however I would like to point out that the fact that their tuition at Canadian universities is 5 times that of Canadian domestic students' tuition is because of large tax payer subsidies towards education in this country. That is to say at least 75% of all university tuition is subsidized in taxpayer dollars. If you have not been paying taxes in this country, then it makes sense to pay the difference. The same goes for Canadian students outside of Québec who must pay more in tuition than students from Québec because their level of government subsidy for post secondary education is even greater.

One thing I would add is the importance of understanding the job market and industry trends in Canada. Conducting research on the types of jobs and industries that are in demand in Canada can help you tailor your job search and increase your chances of success. The analysis about Healthcare is correct about demand being more than supply. But what is not really understood is that the Canadian rules make it that way, not lack of medical professionals. In other countries with national health care like UK, you can legally pay for extra care. In Canada, doctors are fined if they try to provide extra care or even want to work extra medical jobs. So you have to ration medical care and care is fixed, cannot grow or increase except by whatever the govt plans. Any additional care can only be obtained outside of Canada or else illegally/on the black market if in Canada.

I am so thankful to Ottawa for making Canadian immigration much easier for skilled workers. Living abroad is literally a dream for so many Indians including me.

one of my cousin is been living in canada for the past 20+years, about the healthcare, it is much worst even compared to countries like Pakistan or India, my cousin was suffering from renal kidney disease and he had to make a kidney transplant but he was not able to get on that surgery, first he was refused of getting any donor in canada and then finally when he arranged his own donor from Pakistan, they did not give the visa to the donor and finally my cousin had to travel all the way back to Pakistan and get his treatment done here, despite all this the Canadian government after all the rush never replied to a single email from my cousin or his donor and finally he had to take a huge risk of travelling miles back home!!so the healthcare in Canada really sucks big time...thumbs up for making this video!!best of luck!!happy holidays!

All countries have its issues but seeing some of these things make me worry for my best friend who plans on moving to Canada next year to live with his Canadian girlfriend and it makes me nervous cause he has no real game plan he is leaving his life and family in the states and just go somewhere new so not sure if he thinks it will be an easy transition. You are wrong about Canada protecting and caring about homeless and in-need people. The reality is that even though you don't see all the homeless people, there are tens of thousands of them in each city, more so in the warmer climates. The UN has already been on Canada's back for the abuse of homeless people and the cruelty towards them and those with mental health problems. Canada is a fraud and has been deceiving immigrants and visitors for over a hundred years. Many of the homeless people in Canada, especially in the past 20 years and from the start of the pandemic, continuing to this day, are now including people with good educations and many years of high-level job experiences, as well as whole families. These people became homeless because of massive job layoffs and lost everything. Contrary to the popular Canadian ideology, homeless people are not lazy slobs who don't bother to work and need to get their acts together. Many of the homeless shelters are filled with dangerous people, bed bugs, and diseases. Many homeless people choose to find alternatives to sleep safely. Many homeless women experience terrible sexual assaults that rarely are reported and rarely ever taken seriously by the police. Most alternatives to shelters are limited and there are so many restrictions that qualifying doesn't always happen. Many have had their ID stolen, so they are unable to get jobs, rent homes, or even have a day to shower and clean their clothes. Most donations of clothes, blankets, and sleeping bags are disregarded because most homeless people don't have the means to carry things. Their nutrition is terrible, through no fault of their own. Many food banks will not give food to those without a home. Many soup kitchens will only help periodically and not for every meal. Canada's treatment of homeless people and mentally people is not just disgraceful, but criminal. The general attitude of many Canadians, as taught to them by deliberate government propaganda, is that if you are poor or were abused or a victim of crime, is that they did something to deserve it. Rents across Canada are beyond the reach of the majority of Canadians, yet, Canada refuses to set up a council house system like the UK. There are no emergency homes and no emergency assistance even close to what the UK and other countries across the world provide. Canada's continued abuse, ill-treatment, crimes against humanity, and genocide of the First Nations peoples is not a past history, but an ongoing history that is not about reconciliation. It is about shutting them up so that they cannot speak and get true justice, instead of just a federal government settlement of a meager amount that has only increased the addictions of victims, who have no one to help them or a place to turn. Canada lies about trauma help and treatment for people for having been victims, or have developed PTSD (this is a brain injury and only a mental health problem if the person becomes suicidal or is unable to do the basics of essential living), and worse, Canada lies about this in relation to kids. Alberta has a place that they claim is for treating trauma in kids. However, this place is nothing more than a low-level counseling center to reunite kids with their parents, who have been removed by law. Any child requiring help has to deal with just basic counselors, who are not trained in helping traumatized and PTSD kids. In relation to the First Nations peoples, if the teens have mental health issues, and if they have to be temporarily hospitalized by their parents, social workers and doctors will force joint custody with the parents, to treat the kids or remove them so they can carry on the government's crimes against the First Nations peoples. The crimes continue. In these past few months, a baby was left to die in a basket at a nurse's station in the Misericordia Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta. The mother was allegedly treated like garbage and her child was allegedly called a specimen. But this is not the only case of such abuse of First Nations pregnant mothers and their children. A case over a decade ago allegedly also took place, and the number of these cases in this hospital alone may possibly be much higher, and other hospitals may also be hiding such crimes. An infant, who was the victim of attempted murder by one or the other parent, was put in the care of relatives by social workers, who were totally unaware of the crime, but the one parent, who was put in the hospital's mental health unit, mentioned a version of what had happened, and when the relatives found out, they were allegedly reassured by the hospital that they would deal with the matter. The relatives believed, understandably, that the hospital would report the crime, but it never did. Allegedly the hospital covered up yet another crime. The police in the city, allegedly informed at some point, one of the relatives that no charges could be laid even if the child remembered as the Canadian health services do not believe that children below the age of 4 can remember anything. It was when I heard about this that I realized that the reason Canada has gotten away with the crimes against the 1st Nations, immigrants, Canadians, and who knows how many other victims, through the mandated alleged use of forced assimilation and the alleged Soviet-style education system, is because of this fake claim that children and even infants cannot remember things. This deliberate lie to those relatives allegedly by the police, shows clearly that Canada is following the dangerous path in a more stealthy fashion than the Nazis did to the Jews and others they rounded up, arrested, tortured, and/or eventually murdered. Your perceptions are limited by your obvious lack of real knowledge and real experience. Please, if you are going to make such a video, live in Canada, all over Canada for at least 30 years, then comment, please!

As a Canadian...the ship has sailed a long time ago. There is no future here if you are looking for quality of life. If you are ok with horrible winters, unaffordable housing, and modern day slavery move to Canada. Don't believe they lies...the days of opportunity are gone. The biggest pro about Americans IMO is their willingness to befriend complete strangers. It is very easy to make friends with Americans whereas speaking as a Canadian you generally need an invite to a group to make friends.

Most, if not all, immigrants have gone through rigorous English proficiency tests from reading, writing, speaking. Likewise most of the immigrants have high educational backgrounds, so they’re definitely proficient in English. They may not have the native speaker accent (just like yourselves) but I highly doubt they could be regarded as not being proficient in the English language. What’s the big deal about the English language by the way? among all of the languages, it’s the easiest to master. So I highly doubt that’s one of the real reasons. It’s more on the stupid “not having Canadian experience” thing. Which is really doesn’t make much sense. How would you expect most immigrants to have Canadian work experience? This backwards thinking is among the reason why Canada is lagging compared to other global countries. Only Canada has this rule. That way, it’s limiting its chances of getting the best talents from every part of the world. Because of this rule, highly skilled immigrants are forced to work jobs that doesn’t require technical skills just to pay the bills, until they got fed up for not being able to get jobs according to their high skills and eventually leave Canada for the US.

@Make That Change - thank you for putting this together, very informative. My wife (who is Canadian) and I are currently living in UK and planning on moving to Canada in the near future. I am not overly concerned about weather, cultural differences or taxes (we are kind of used to that here in UK). My biggest worry is difficulty with finding a job and the fact that past education, experience and knowledge counts almost for nothing and you have to start from scratch.

Pun intended ;) \nI've lived in three different countries and soon moving to the fourth ie. Canada. Living in different places gives a broader view on society and helps understanding that nowhere is perfect. I think that immigrants' frustration primarly comes from the fact that we do not make enough research on what to expect when moving. You should write down pros and cons on moving, make sure you understand what are the most important things for you and check if that new country provides that. Watching videos like yours is a great way to start. It really comes down to what you want from life and if you are willing to adapt to achieve it. \nOn the other hand, Canadians' frustration might come from the fact that they never lived anywhere else :)\nAs for my top three things that disapoint me the most: Healthcare, Housing, Technology.

Please stop making Canada sound like 'the frozen north'. Any educated person knows that this is a 'Seasonal' country. Our summers reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times and we can actually sunburn while sun tanning on these days. We water-ski, swim, boat and sail, golf, gold-pan, hike, bicycle, Motorcycle, camp, picnic, fish, sky-dive, drive, shop, tap for Maple syrup and thoroughly enjoy our Springs and Summers like any other normal person and country. Our Autumn's are glorious as leaves turn crimson and gold, with picking all kinds of fresh fruit, canning jars of produce, carving pumpkins for Hallowe'en, making and tasting wines. Our Winters, loved, with some of the best ski resorts in the world; skating rinks--Our skaters won Gold in the Olympics and some of the best Hockey teams, who have also won Olympic Gold, come from Canada. We still toboggan, go on sleigh rides, ice swim, build snowmen and make the occasional Snow Angel, just for fun. We have learned to deal with winter snows--they're called Snowplows, which are abundant and whose operators are extremely efficient! AND, we have miles and miles and miles of uninhabited land--a rare treasure now-a-days! We are Canadian and we love it!!????

Interestingly, all the people interviewed seemed to have had a first degree in Nigeria considering how new they are in Canada, even the interviewer, thus if Nigeria is so bad how did they blend easily with the Canadian system if they learnt/gained nothing from home? The problem with mankind is that we all forget to thank God for little mercies. We focus only on what we lack but not thankful for the little we have. That foundation in Nigeria, that good culture, in Nigeria, that Nija intelligence, that Nija confido is what makes it easy to emigrate out of Nija and do well anywhere in the world seamlessly. So we gained plenty from Nija just that we FOCUS on the things we don't have and such spirit of ingratitude may not enable us change Nija system. So ingratitude is the issue too. It was obvious right from the start that this was just a set-up to make Canada look better. It came across as biased to get the desired outcome. I like Canada and Canadians but you do love to pat yourself on the back. I've lived in 6 places in the USA including Alaska and have been to Canada many times and have Canadian friends and neighbors here in the Arizona where I live now. Despite what you hear, most places are very safe here. All in all, I would still prefer to live in the USA.

I do watch many videos about the topic. First of all there's no place like home. As a human we will have tendency to resist to change. Choosing to leave a country whatever the reason will always be hard, you left a culture, family and so many good things. Diversity in a country like Canada is a good thing sometimes because somewhere somehow you find link to home. Imagine as a French Canadian like I am, I am consider as an immigrant in my own country. The natives came first from Asia, English took over the country which left us with no country we can call home. Many immigrants will say that French is an obstacle and don't understand why we need laws to keep it, we took our place following negotiations with the native not by conquest and always need to fight to keep that space because we're not making babies anymore and do need immigration like the rest of the country. That being said it brings the sensitive topic of jobs. There's types of jobs you do need Canadian experience, in Canada the construction codes are different from even a region versus another one. Do you know that St-Lawrence river is sitting on a tectonic plate and you need to construct a building which can resist a earthquake? What Canada need to do because we do lack of people on those job, is to provide fast track to help them having Canadian experience. They don't need anatomy courses, human here are pretty much the same but they need to know what medication is legal in Canada. Finally, all is on setting expectations, don't expect to feel at home in here, it take in average 3 generations to really feel at home, so be ready to feel pushed aside, be ready to live in a area where you will find mostly people of common cultural background. You will feel left over and pretty much alone. The only solution to be happy in here is embrasse change, go out of your comfort zone, embrace the local culture, talk to people from different backgrounds. There's a difference between multi cultural and integration. Sharing is caring, share your culture and your food, and most of all don't think you have the best way of life and other people don't understand. When you think everyone is wrong is usually a sign that you're the one who is wrong. Racism weirdly don't have a culture, a race or a religion, it's individual.

How is our health care system going to handle an extra 500k people coming to Canada every year. We have a serious health care crisis happening here. I don't even have a doctor and I expect I will never have a family doctor ever again. I also expect that the Canadian Government will make sure every Immigrant who comes to Canada will have a family doctor or some special set up for them to make sure they can get their health taken care of. While the rest of us who were born in Canada will be left on the sides for at least 40 years as it's going to take at least 40 years of making sure we train and attract as many new doctors as we can. It is going to take a long time due to the Government of Canada let this issue go without doing anything about the degradation of our health care for the past 20 years. It will soon become normal for multiple people to die every week while waiting in emergency rooms for help due to wait times of 72 hours or more on a regular basis. Its been in the news several times this year already but soon it will be in the news every week.

Really? Why does this government hate Canadians? Or is it that they are blind from reality? Canadians are struggling. Why bring more people here just because it helps liberals at voting booth. Immigrants expect good jobs. There are not a lot of jobs for Canadians born and raised in Canada. A lot of immigrants do not focus on work. But make it painful for Canadians so that they will quit jobs. Immigrants are party responsible for homelessness in the country. Right now, we need fewer immigrants, not more. It is irresponsible to be opening the floodgates to immigration when we do not have enough affordable housing for them to live in. Where are they going to live? Under the current system, we have more new Canadians bidding up the prices on a limited supply of housing. To say that increased immigration will build MORE houses is just not true. Since 2000, Canada has brought in 5 956 963 immigrants; (Source Statista). During that same period that we brought in almost 6 million new immigrants, Canada’s housing situation has deteriorated to the point so that people are unable to find affordable housing. Forty-year old’s are living in their parents basements because they cannot afford a house or rent an apartment. If 6 million new Canadians only makes housing worse, what will opening the flood gates do? No, we need to fix our problems at home. Ensure that there is enough housing for people to move into before bringing them into Canada.

Well I already left the Canada last year after having lived for 5 years. I am in my early 30s , south asian immigrant. I had a good paying job. I left because more so because of the social isolation and the pandemic measures. Plus I feel most Canadians may seem polite , but not friendly as in - extremely hard to make friends. Ethnic groups stick to themselves and don't mix. I found dating to be extremely hard and toxic. People have high individualistic mentality and don't open up.\n\nI am now in working in Mexico / Latin America and my mental health has greatly improved. I am able to socialize and women here aren't as stuck up as in Canada. Real world interactions are valued here unlike in Canada where it's all about the apps and social media. Also who doesn't like some good consistent sunshine. Overall , I am happy to have left Canada and am not coming back.
