My daughter is a fully qualified for graphic Designer and yet (with thousands of $$$in student debt) cannot find a job. She actually put in her resume with an Indian name as well as in her own name. Guess which resume had a call for an interview, yes - the one with the Indian name. This is insane. In regards to the job issue, I wonder if allowing only a certain number of a certain demographic to be hired as opposes to giving majority of the jobs to that one demographic? We've seen a shift in the child care profession in Canada. Most ECE's and student ECE's are from India. It's not going well. There is a different work ethic. After that, a very slow and gradual increase to maximim 1% current population levels, with a strict focus on STEM and health care grads. Not their parents and grandparents and great aunts. Here's the root of most of the problems, its gov. policy, you take in a million new people a year, give them everything and your dollar ends up losing value, so even though your working hard, you cannot get ahead in this country. I am not racist in any way shape or form- my grandfather was in Germany and he was on the Beach in Normandy. He saw his friend die in a foxhole beside him and my grandfather came home with shrapnel in his leg. His suffered all of this to give us our freedoms and a safe place to live. Even if you make it past that stage, there are endless AI-driven assessments before you even have a chance to speak with someone. And when you finally do, it’s often yet another layer of screening rather than a real interview. I know I bring value — I consistently receive compliments from customers across cultures for speaking clearly, precisely, and making their experience enjoyable. Yet I find myself competing with younger candidates who can work longer hours, or new immigrants that companies often prioritize, sometimes with government incentives. At 55, I feel like I’m being overlooked despite my proven skills and professionalism. Right now, I live with my retired parents and should be caring for them. Instead, my father is helping me pay my bills so I don’t ruin the credit I worked so hard to build. If I don’t secure a job soon, I fear I’ll lose everything else I’ve managed to hold onto.
