Age is an important factor while considering immigration. For folks less than 30, Canada will offer you a great opportunity if you are focus and knows how to develop your skills or career. For Folks that have worked the better part of their lives in their home country, say from age 40, DO NOT sell all you have worked for back home and bring the money to Canada, the system here is designed to swallow all that money in a short time. For these group of people do not immigrate because you want a better life for your children, but your primary focus will be what can I do in a short possible time that can earn you money to survive this economy. Housing is the most important factor and do a lot of research on where to settle that will fit your income and provide better job. Also make sure you are re-trainable. Be prepared and that includes all members of your family. Wife and husband and all their adult children must be ready to hit the ground running and find whatever job within a short possible time. Paying bills become a less burden if all members of the family are contributing their own share. It is not like back home where the man is the brad winner and takes care of others responsibilities.

And for everyone (legal or undocumented) who thinks we should open our borders to everyone immediately, you should sign up to house and feed these people. And for all the people who come here with no invite but the others have to wait in line, you should be required to do community work for free to pay back the kindness and not be given any assistance or tax credit at the end of the year. There's so many negatives to Canada's system and its obvious Canada's insane increase in immigration is only lowering wages, increasing housing prices, importing ethnic tensions and propping up minimum wage jobs. Canada's TFW and foreign student programs don't follow our scoring system. And they're complete scams. Indians come here to study at DeVry college at a strip mall while working full time at Tim Hortons living 6 people to an apartment and they eventually get permanent residency. I hate this so much. I know it’s not these peoples fault that their countries aren’t helping them but America isn’t even helping its own people. Imagine how it feels to be from the US struggling and then these people come and somehow our country has the means to help them when they won’t not can’t won’t help their own. What other country do you know of where you can just decide to cross their boarder demand help and say you know what I’m just going to live here illegally now. And if we don’t help them they have all kinds of ways to sue the state and demand help even though they’re not even citizens. That’s what’s crazy to me. They make you do a bunch of stuff before you can travel and some countries won’t even let you visit let alone live there with or without a criminal record but these people can just walk right in. Any countries borders are important they are there for protection. Ours are not being protected which means the country is not protected. I just don’t see this turning out well for anybody, not them not us. There is a scene from the titanic that I’d like to relate this situation to. The scene where Roses mom is in the boat with that other lady who has new money the chubby one. She wanted to let people on the boat that were drowning around her, and dude wouldn’t let her. It wasn’t because he was being mean it was because if people started holding onto the boat and trying to get on the boat they would panic, and eventually everybody would swarm the boat. No your education system is not good. You have a few good universities but your k through 12 is rated as one of the worst of the 1st world countries on the world wide education scale. Another important factor is that America employers didn’t ask me when I came here from Canada : do you have any American experience? For them, an experience that can make them money is a good experience. However, when I was in Canada no employers were willing to give me an interview because I immigrated to Canada from China with no Canadian experience. Canadian immigration system might be more transparent and better than the American one, but their job market is not that welcoming

During the pandemic when ppl in the US were struggling, no job, no money coming in, I think the govt paid a total of about $1700, over the course of the entire pandemic. Canadians off work got $2000/ month for over a year. Our politics aren’t wonderful, but they come together to get things done when things are important. It seems the politics in the US are incredibly divisive.

When I travelled there to check on my husband’s rental properties (yes, he is a Canadian who owns properties in the U.S.) I was always surprised at our employees, tenants, who treated us as second class citizens, as “CrazyCanucks”, and mostly, incredulous that we could actually legally own American companies….and yes, we paid all taxes due. \nThe U.S. is a beautiful country but, unfortunately, all too often, there is a superiority attitude that permeates every exchange…a we (Americans), vs them (Canadians) approach. As with many other Canadians we knew who had businesses in the U.S., our experience as Canadians doing business in the U.S., was also theirs. \nI will end by acknowledging that I know many beautiful & amazing Americans that I have come to love and immensely respect. I also have Canadian relatives who live in the U.S. and have dual citizenship. I'm an engineer in the US atm on an H1B. I got it on my last go. I know what awaits me and for me there are more important things than money. Yes the money is good here but I dont have the freedom to do other jobs or business like everyone else. I'll be moving to CA soon. Can't put a price on peace of mind

As an immigrant to the US, you summed up the issue very nicely. Another thing I noticed is that people who cannot get an h1b visa sometimes would go to Canada, get a Canadian passport to secure an insurance, and then come look for a job on TN visa or EB1 visa in the US. As an immigrant who comes to the US on a EB3 visa, I really hope that the US can prioritize employment based visas instead of family based or even illegals immigrants for the future of the country. One thing that makes a lotta EB immigrants scratch our heads is that why would the US government put all their efforts in taking in illegal immigrants and grant them a safe path to citizenship instead of taking care of the ones coming in legally first. Not to say the other group isn’t important, but it’s a weird way to prioritize things.

This explains so much about why Canada has become a total dumpster fire the last decade. They built a society that cant reproduce and then imported other people without western values and now run their country by dictatorship ending fundamental rights of their citizenry. Great video! US immigration system is soul crushing and very expensive. As a Korean Canadian (Scientist with a PhD) who immigrated to US in 2012, I was lucky to get my green card in 2020. Since then I sponsored my wife and my daughter but their immigration cases have been in limbo due to the pandemic and we are still waiting for their green cards. You made a great point about why many people wants to immigrate to US from Canada because of pay. It is true that same job in the US pays so much better but you forget to mention a few points that the higher pay in the US is not that much advantageous if you calculate the cost of other life expenses. Sure house is very expansive in Canada but it is expensive in the US too. I live in MA and the average price is so much expensive. Additionionally, important things in life are very expensive in the US compared to Canada such as Child care, children's education, health cares etc... Example: My friends from Quebec only pay 7$/day for daycare (~140$/month). My friends in Massassuchetts pays on average (2800$/month). My friends kids will pay around 2000$/year for university tuition if they go to an university in Quebec. My kid will have to pay around 10000$/year if she decides to go to in state university if not it could be more than 40000$/year. I know that health care system in Canada is not perfect but it is much cheaper. In US, it is so expansive. My daughter birth only costs us in Canada 100$. My friend kid birth in MA with a great health insurance cost more than 5000$. Without health insurance, it could go even higher. Now if you lose your job, you lose your health insurance so good luck if you become sick. Additionally, depending where you go in the US, they have a gun problem. Luckily for me, I live in MA where gun control is very strong. Anyway, this is just to tell you that higher pay isn't always better.

I felt motivated to post because Sanjay from McGill would actually have a very different experience depending on whether he applied for permanent residency in Quebec or Ontario! One of the main differences is that Quebec weighs knowledge of the French language very heavily in applications for permanent residency. (The exact amount has varied over the years. It wasn't so important years ago, but recently it's gone up.) So while there is no official per-country quota system like the US has, you can imagine that Quebec has far more permanent residents proportionally from France, Lebanon, and Senegal (for example).

Walking into any major university career fair, you will see the predatorial scene of hordes of foreign master students competing against American bachelors for the same new grad jobs; with many of the foreign students already having real career experience in their own country competing against inexperienced American young adults. \n\nThis video also does not mention the H1B lottery is not a single-try event. Everyone is given 3 tries and it refreshes if you get another American degree. \n\nLastly, this video does not mention the fact that people not on American soil could also apply for the H1B lottery which contributes further to the low rate. \n\nComparing pays between companies was ridiculous in this video's context. Google L3 in America should be compared with Google L3 in Canada, which are not very different in pay, after adjusting for the cost of living.\n\nIn terms of the country cap, just because some countries happen to have more people than other countries, it's not America's problem to solve; America has to do what is in the best interest of America. In this case, America simply decided to prioritize diversity in yearly admittees.
