We have a shortage of doctors and nurses, among other specialties. This according to the Trudeau regime itself. So can somebody explain the logic of giving away medical and nursing school placements to foreign students who will take their degree and return to their country? \n\nIn my basic understanding, if I have a shortage of something, I dedicate my capacity to filling the shortage, not to selling my capacity for money. How can we help others when we cant even provide for our own? Born and raised canadians are ended up on the streets in record numbers and the cost of living is higher then its ever been. One has to assume that we have smart people behind the scenes that have been looking at this issues at length. At least in Ontario the problem is that for several years now tuition fees have been frozen for domestic students. They have not been indexed even by inflation, even when inflation was skyrocketting. And remember that the provincial government pays extra to higher ed institutions for each domestic student they accept. So of course to manage their budgets colleges and universities started to invite more international students, for where else can they get money from? University admins have been trying to explain this simple math to provincial government leaders, with no success. So I'm surprised that this video is putting so much responsibility on higher ed imstitutions and not on the government that put them in this unfortunate position.

If I wanna get on the rent to geard income house have to wait 7 to 10 years, but if I was born somewhere else, they would just give it to me as soon as I get here so maybe instead of focussing on immigrants, let’s focus on people who are born in this country by, I don’t know stop cutting medical and education spending

SHAME on the canadian government for putting the focus on international students!!! Done because they can blame the provincial governments and make people ignore that they changed visas to mexico, changed the refugee claimant laws, and increased exponentially the number of people entering and then waiting for a hearing on the asylum claim. As a landlord, here's the difference between international students and migrants: One has money and pays me rent monthly on time, while the other one sleeps in the park, or somewhere else, PAID by the government. The issue aren't the people entering and giving us their money, it's the new huge welfare class called migrants that is draining the system.

International students ARE NOT driving up home prices or rent...that's a supply/demand issue (plus the lack of control government has on landlords and how much they can charge for a specific unit) and it's also a foreign buyer issue (yes Chinese foreign buyers, who buy homes in Canada but never move-in and use it as the home as a savings account). Not the international students problem, when the government of Canada DEMANDS THESE STUDENTS NOT WORK FOR MORE THAN 20 HOURS A WEEK and then watches them struggle to pay for rent (and therefore have to live 2 or 3 to a room)...yeah, don't blame the students. BLAME THE GOVERNMENT for bringing these students here, handicapping them by limiting their work hours (minimum wage at that) and then turning around and blaming them for why homes are ridiculously expensive and rent is unaffordable. Yeah, don't blame the government for it's inability to build homes...don't blame the government, instead, blame the minimum wage international student...it's going to be interesting if this actually brings DOWN rent prices and home costs. Which it won't, at which point, the government is going to be pointing fingers at someone else. Like they always do. LOL.

If home prices drop because there is more homes being built that gives everyone an advantage. I don't even know what percentage of people own 100% of their home but I don't think it's that many, and that's going to drop significantly as well. I know there's tons of studies done yearly on the effects of stability on children and mental health, good grades, good health. All these things generally improve with safety and stability and it's consistent. If you are someone who can actually afford to buy your own house, you could just buy a cheaper house and invest the rest in something else. It's actually better to have diversity than to sit there hoping no one builds houses so you can maintain some high value property. And this likely will lead to a collapse as well. It's unavoidable in the long term

I totally agree that this country will break your spine and test your ultimate willpower. Me and my wife came here 5 years back and we decided that we will shut ourselves like a tortoise. Forget about savings and forget about everything else. Only and only one goal we had in mind is that we will live in the basement and earn top dollars. Just to give you a perspective. My first pay was 19 dollar per hour and my current pay is 87 per hour. My wife started with 16.5 per hour and now earning 69 per hour. Even though our income grew substantially, we never raised our expenses. Answer to all problems in Canada is income. Now after 5 years we bought house worth of 1.4 M. We moved out of basement and felt immense pride. We paid 37% down payment and 3 banks approved our mortgages in a heartbeat. No debt at all. We paid up our car in full. Just a regular new suv nothing fancy. \nEveryone is different, we all are unique and I believe you took a right decision.
