I just ignore it or confront the person if I sense that someone is being prejudice towards me. Otherwise, MOST people are NOT prejudice! So QUIT focusing the negative aspect of human frailties and focus on the good side! It seems like if one person is one bad apple, media likes to focus on that one bad apple and forgot to focus that the rest of the apples are still good and healthy!

This is not how you fight racism. You fight racism not by guilt tripping and causing outrage. You fight it by bringing unlikely people together to learn about each other to mitigate fear and misunderstanding. It doesn’t really help to point out these kinds of issues. It’s no surprise. We are all ignorant about something, someone’s physical features or cultures. The goal is to reduce ignorance and misunderstanding. This is just a gossip outrage piece. And these kinds of pieces are being pimped out. They are cheap.

It seems very strange behaviour by Canada when you only have to look at the places where these people come from to gauge the future for a western society with them in it. Their beliefs and their ideology demands so many transgressions of our laws that you have to make a decision whether you modify them or us or you just kinda sweep their continual law breaking under the carpet in order to placate them and the lefties who demand we embrace their idea of a social utopia which isn’t complete without an intolerant 7th century primitive culture in it.\nAll of which amounts to ignoring our own constitution and laws, which is just not acceptable because it violates the prime doctrine of the separation of powers in favour of an imported ideology that proclaims it is above the law just because it says so. And has assumed this capacity without due electoral process in accordance with existing laws and the constitution, which btw is illegal.\n\nGermany found an answer through an unelected body, the court, which is acceptable to them, they modified their own law to suit Islamic Sharia law ignoring their own constitution in the process. Germany has already modified their freedom of speech and the right to protest if it conflicts with Sharia in some fashion so Germany is on a downward spiral into totalitarianism against the majority and its own constitution. \nWhat will follow is anarchy if nobody in authority is going to adhere to the constitution and the law.

I'll tell you two things just as scary as racism. \nPeople trying to justify it and people denying it. Talking about REAL issues doesn't cause dissention or division; ignoring or pretending issues don't exist does.

There are 240 million refugees waiting to come here. Canada is a big country. Of course we are not building new towns or cities. But we all believe in economic growth. Shame on Marketplace for doing a cheap stunt piece like this. I'll never watch this show again. Marketplace is supposed to be a show about consumer protection, not a show making political statements.\n\nHaving said this, the producers of this show demonstrated a remarkable ignorance of the law by setting up a fundraising operation on a sidewalk in contravention of the law! Him getting a lawyer and what not has showed he’s a bit smarter than many immigrants seeking asylum but most cases people don’t know the proper way to migrate out of their countries. I had a recent experience traveling with friends to Friday Harbor in Washington State near Victoria Island. It was a touristy spot in the PNW. There are 4 of us that day - 3 asians and 1 white . My white friend needed to use the restroom so the three of us went to a tourist information center. When we walked in the two white ladies just ignored us didn’t say hi or anything and we were not paying attention at first until my white friend walked in . one lady immediately got up and greeted him. And when she found out that the white guy is friend with the other 3 asians She started to talk to all of us but the entire time she only had eye contact with my white friend. It was kinda weird for me. It was not a bad experience but you noticed the skin color do make a difference in how people treated you in the US.

Haha. I see a lot of ignorance in this comment section. We treat immigrants and asylum seekers with a little more respect than the United States. It's not perfect but I rather these people have a place to stay while they are processed then locked in cages. I rather get more tax payers in the long run. Most immigrants and refugees pay more tax and work harder then Canadian born citizens.

There is nothing in the Quran about covering your face/head. That stuff is found in the Hadith. And Muslims pick and choose which Hadith they follow (even when they are found in the same books). For example, they ignore the Hadiths that talk about the FIRST version of Islam, called the Satanic Verses (Muhammad recanted that version of Islam, saying that the first angel he talked to told him the wrong things because it was actually a devil disguised as an angel). If they accept that Hadith, they have to accept that if Muhammad could be tricked by a devil the first time, what is to say that he couldn't be tricked a second time? Also, the Quran was not written down until much later, it was memorized by certain people. After a major battle a lot of those people were killed, so they had all of the remaining people write it down and there were many discrepancies (not just linguistic problems, but actual ideas that were completely different). The person in charge of compiling the versions burned all of the copies after he created one Quran. And since Muhammad was the last prophet and God only talks to prophets according to Islam, there is no way he could have had divine direction to know which to keep and which verses to scrap. There are entire books missing (such as the books that were eaten by a goat). \nNow that we have access to the Hadiths (they weren't translated to English until the 21st century) we are finding out a lot more about the history of Islam, and Muslims don't like it.
