Hey world! Come to Canada and don't even bother registering for citizenship! Our tax dollars will make sure you live a more comfortable life then most Canadians ?

We have a thing called a work Visa(Green Card). While on this Visa you apply for Citizenship. It takes time and it takes money. Thats is the way it is.

So he spent many years in the US! His English is amazing! Shows how hard he has tried to assimilate, and maybe apply for citizenship.
|
| 2018-06-25 | 0 |
Why the hell after all this time, it seems that he cannot or will not English. Please stay in Canada. We do not want your kind in this country. You illegals think that you deserve to be in front of people who are doing the right thing to get citizenship. Go to the back of the line.
|
| 2018-06-25 | 0 |
The reality is you can’t give free citizenship to illegals, how about those legal immigrants who spend years of living within the country while still waiting for their residence! I have to say it’s just not fair!

So he has no respect for the law. Yep, these are the people we need to let in and give citizenship to. You're filing for asylum with over $15k in hand hmmmmmm. Asylum is not for people simply wanting to improve their economic situation
|
| 2018-06-23 | 0 |
He has it so haaaard. The moment he gets Canadian citizenship he'll be down in the US working illegally and selling drugs.
|
| 2018-06-21 | 0 |
First of all you thought you guys could bring your family illegally didn't work then you got your wife pregnant for the baby to be born in the US for citizenship not working now they have the children separated from the parent give the children to the parents take the parents and the children back to where they come from and start to rebuild your country

Its even harder for american citizens to gain duel citizenship. Its a detailed criteria to meet. You must know french and pass canadian history exam.

Mexico have one of the strict immigration Law. But is it all right for Mexicans illegal to come United States illegally and demand citizenship? Mexican are proud of Mexico but don’t want to go back to Mexico. Hypocrites Mexicans.

Why are people calling her racist? Seriously? If you have not gone through the proper process to get your actual Canadian citizenship you are not Canadian. Period. Just because you are being given asylum in a country does not make you a citizen of it. It's amazing seeing Canadians stick up for themselves. Enough has been taken from us. She was rude for sure but not racist and I bet the only taxes this asshat pays are in the grocery store line up! xox

My cousin wanted citizenship in Canada, but his application was denied. Canada doesn't want or need people.
|
| 2018-03-31 | 12 |
Just because you snuck over the border that doesn't give you an automatic right to citizenship.
|

if he and his family were members of a certain religion of peace they would already been granted citizenship. Trudeau and his government have a certain affinity for one of the Abrahamic religions.

Adios. You can’t even speak English. That demonstrates you have no desire for North American culture and customs. My grandpa had to learn French when he emigrated to Canada from Holland more than a hundred years ago. When him and my grandma emigrated to the United States, they learned English and gained citizenship. They only had two kids and my grandpa employed people who he refused to let go during the depression in the 1930’s. What have you done for our country?

It's very hard to have sympathy for someone who just shows up and expects to get to stay.\nIt shows that you're an entitled brat who think they're special. Honest people apply and wait in line for their turn.\nIf you can't be bothered to apply for citizenship or recidency before you come to a country, then that should be an automatic refusal and deportation.

He didn't get denied by America. Jose was to lazy to apply for his American citizenship. Be real. His ass and so many Mexicans and undocumented people. You denied America Jose. Many Mexican people love America and applied.

Why doesn't he just get his citizenship he should have came there legally seek asylum and if that did not work then get his citizenship
|

Canada is VERY VERY merit based don't get it twisted. It took my parents years to get a visa to leave Nigeria and come here, Canada is not some paradise, it's a country chances are if you can't get legal citizenship in the states, you'd be VERY lucky to get it Canada. Basically your chances are little to none.

You fled the richest nation in the world, for Canada\n What did you expect? \nCanada takes refugees from war zones not from NYY.. Canada doesn't just hand out money. Especially to people who think they can jump our border and our immigration process. There are plenty of people who spent a lot of time and work to earn their citizenship legally. How is it fair to anyone but you lol. Break the law pay the time. Don't come here without even spending a few hours looking into at least our laws ! Duh!

Why did he spend that 15000$ to get his citizenship in U.S. or Canada sounds like he wants something for nothing... Freebies...
|
| 2018-02-11 | 0 |
Understand wanting a better life but this is what you put your family thru when you go into a country that you do not have citizenship and just expect to stay. You should try to do things ahead of time or enter the country legally and go from there. You wouldn't have had to flee to Canada if you hadn't snuck into the United States. Most of these people don't even try to enter the country legally and go about it the right way. They just come on in and then cry when shit doesn't go their way down the road.

15 years in the US and he apparently does not speak English. And now, in Canada, he skips on a legal proceeding. I'd say this fellow is not a top-shelf candidate for citizenship in either country. He has demonstrated his unwillingness to assimilate (learn some English) and to abide by fundamental laws.

15 yrs in the States and no English and no citizenship. He should have gone to Mexico
|
| 2018-02-02 | 0 |
why did he not legally apply for citizenship in the us to begin with? Yes it is sad. But can someone explain to me why he hasn't attempted to become a legal citizen?
|

I can't believe what's being said in these comments. So the fact that he didn't speak English in the interview is the only thing that sunk in? Ok. Many of the immigrants that come here , come for the opportunities: Work, food, shelter, etc. Learning English should be mandatory in all immigrants applying for citizenship but we can't disregard someone because they choose NOT to speak English. For all we know, this guy (I'm sure) understands and probably can speak some English but for the sake of the interview the producers mostly likely asked him and he chose to speak in Spanish.

The clear sense of entitlement here is just insanity inducing. Why should any country accept you jumping ahead of so many others that are going through the proper steps to gain citizenship? It's not as if he doesn't have citizenship anywhere, or is running from the cartel or the Taliban or something. \n\nI'm sorry, but the world owes you nothing. Overstaying a work visa or a tourist visa is a crime for a reason. Try overstaying your welcome in China, Japan, Mexico, Israel -- anywhere in the world. This is not unique to the United States.

Speaking as a person who came to Canada and hopes to get a PR in the coming year: The view that Canada welcomes anyone can´t be further from the truth. If you are a skilled worker, you´ve gone to school and you are relatively young, getting a citizenship is very straightforward, but if you don´t, Canada won´t have you, and you know what? it´s OK: all countries have the right to determine their immigration policy and enforce it. Canada´s point system is very transparent, you can calculate your points by yourself online. Not here to judge that guy, but a little research might have saved him a lot of trouble.

Immigrant would mean legal. If he had to leave the u.s he would be an illegal immigrant. Change the title. My grandpa is an immigrant from Ireland but actually got his citizenship. You people need to see the difference from legal and illegal immigration

How do you stay there permanently? Is it easy for Canadians to get US citizenship?

There are many problems with anti-immigrant rhetoric and one of them is the classification who is and who isn't an immigrant and the question of when does a person stop becoming an immigrant and become a Canadian? A significant portion of people living in Canada are first/second/third generation Canadians and so, how do we classify these people, are they immigrants or are they not? And what of their parents/grandparents who immigrated, are they? It's very important to note that without their ancestor parents, all these first/second/third gen Canadians will not be here and they are now 'Canadians' today because we had pro-immigration laws.
Also, the idea of accessing services is by itself, very problematic. I spent the first 4 years of my life here paying high tuition fees as well as tax that are used to subsidize fellow Canadians' tuition fees yet I'm not able to access any government services. Following graduation, I worked as a worker on visa where my tax was no less than an average Canadian yet government services were very much inaccessible to me. It was only after I became permanent resident, that somehow everything suddenly became available to me. I have been tax paying 6-7 years before I became a PR here yet all those years, I wasn't able to access a single thing yet somehow, after I became PR, I'm eligible for everything? The tax argument doesn't make sense at all. I will be eligible to apply for citizenship in like a year and does that mean now I am one of you, Canadians?

1,209 people voted (or would have voted, given U.S. citizenship) for Donald Trump.

Not sure why the refugees were given immediate citizenship in Canada. Do they not have the desire to go back to their own Country when its safe again?

The silent killer. Come to Canada and try to dictate Sharia law to us. U took an oath to uphold Canadian law when u became a Canadian citizen. U r now espousing treasonous rhetoric. Revoke their citizenship and kick them out en masse. Take this country back!

Islam is the problem, It does not separate a fascist ideology style of belief from the way it governs its laws. It oppress woman and teaches Muslim men to be violent against all non believers. This is Why Muslims should not be allowed citizenship in any western world because they openly state they will not assimilate and the day will come when they will take over the world with Sharia law.

Was it easy for you and Hannah to get married? Will there be any times where you have to go back to live without her? My MIL tried to marry her bf who is Canadian and they had so many issues. He wasn't allowed to come here, she wasn't allowed to stay there more than 6 months. She tried to move some stuff over to his place while they were getting the paperwork straightened out and boarder patrol wouldn't let her through. They ended up splitting up due to all the citizenship issues.

Have you renounced your Canadian citizenship so as to lose your health coverage in Canada?

These Muslims left Islamic Pakistan because they hated to live under Sharia, and migrated to non Islamic Canada for better life. Canada gave them asylum, food, medical care, citizenship, right to speak, and they're still ungrateful to their host country and bow to tyrant Mecca (Saudi Arabia), where they can't even imagine to breath like equal citizens. Shame on Muslims & Islam. My utmost respect and regards to Canada.

You do realize Islam is extremely diverse ,there are so many schools of thoughts and sects . Most of them are peaceful people and all the attention is on a very small amount that are extreme in ideology. Generalizing Muslims into one group is laughable as for Niqab I dont believe it is Islamic , my school of thought doesnt even believe Hijab or headcover is obligatory but that doesnt mean they should be stripped of citizenship and deserve to die ...I think thats extreme too. I think if people in the west can walk outside in a thong and bra or completely naked at gay festivals then whats the problem with wearing too much clothes...honestly I think as human beings you should be free to wear whatever you want.\n.
|
| 2015-09-28 | 0 |
Fuck Islam. If you want to wear the Niqab, that's fine. Just surrender your citizenship and go live in Saudi Arabia.
|

How about trying to be a better Canadian? That's why you came here and accepted Canadian citizenship.

Isn't Shahreeyah a foreign nation's constitution? Either that foreign nation is so horrible and they had to leave because their man made Shariah law sucks, or they're on a crusade and favor it over the Canadian constitution. Must have lied from behind the mask when they gave the oath of citizenship. Other than that I guess they're okay as people, because they're humans too, but if they want Shahreeyah, they can go back to the hellhole they came from.

Britains liberal way of thinking and tolerance as allowed these Muslims to settle in the UK and Europe, Europe will pay the price in the future.\nIf you allow Muslims, citizenship and allow them the right to produce dozens and dozens of children. This is what you get.\nEurope will be ruined. You can say goodbye to your freedom and tolerance.
