I was pro-immigration too when Canada was bringing in 300,000 per year. Then they added over a million, like of course that's not going to work.

I'm an immigrant to Canada. I've been here for 35 years (came here when I was 6). The current immigration/migration/ayslum seeker rates have gone completely insane. It isn't racist to think it's gone overboard. I went to very very multicultural schools. I grew up in Toronto and have lived downtown for 20 years now. I love our multiculturalism but there are limits to immigration if there simply isn't an infrastructure to support countless hundreds of thousands of people trying to move into the city each year. It's not sustainable at all. The roads aren't getting bigger, the housing zoning isn't getting easier, new hospitals aren't being built. You cannot try and cram 4 million people in a city built for like 2 million people. People moving to Canada simply do not realize just how absurdly expensive this place has become. What's the better alternative being poor in India or being poor in Canada? Because unless you are making 100k a year you are going to basically be poor in Toronto.\n\nThe big big difference as someone who has lived downtown Toronto for 20 years is now the homeless are very multicultural. 10 years ago it wasn't like that as much. Now people from every race and every background are at risk of homelessness. It's a rate race, it's a very competitive city for housing and jobs and as soon as you aren't in making $$$$$ you will fall behind.

With more than 400 millions Canadian dollars mismanaged and put into companies having ties to government officials, you cannot complain about the lack of fund to build infrastructures for new residential/commercial areas. It is like shoving a huge pile of money into your own pocket and whine that you don't have money

I'm American. Europe is tired of African and Muslim migrants. There is a backlash against them in Europe. The USA is getting their as well in Americans wanting the borders shut. Fighting for your own nation is best. Bangladesh students just ran out their leader through protest. Millions of poor people going to Western nations isnt feasible long-term. This is disgusting to listen to. No country on Earth wants millions of immigrants flooding in getting welfare to the moon and being a statistic of crime cause by these immigrants. No one wants that. What makes anyone think they do? They are all going to get to vote. Just watch. They just crossed our border, got welfare better than citizens, and will get to vote. Where did it come from? Why is it happening now of all times? What are these people being told? Wtf is going on because a born, bred, and raised citizen is highly confused, offended, angry, and fed up.

As a Canadian, we want to leave! This isn’t the same country our parents and grandparents grew up in. Bringing in 1 million ppl who haven’t contributed to our socialist system yet giving them full benefits is destroying us! If just my husband didn’t get taxed we could afford for me to stay home but instead my mat leave has ended and we can’t find child care! We are in serious talks about selling the house and moving to Thailand or some other country where our dollar is actually worth something. \nTaking suggestions on English speaking countries to move to!\n\nAnd what other country could u move to and tell them to change? Cuz that’s what happening here. Ppl aren’t assimilating to our Canadian way. We are expected to accept (bend over and take it) and include in the name of “inclusion”. I am an immigrant from the USA. The problem in Canada is you have 36, 000, 000 million people that has to support the infrastructure and size of 2 large nations. There are no industries being born in Canada. Most jobs are govt, education, and other Union-Based jobs. Solve the industry problem, and you will solve your other problems.

How do you call it scapegoating immigration for the housing shortage? Is it the biggest issue? Yes. You can't increase the population by 8 million people in a decade and not expect it to stretch not only housing but Healthcare as well. It doesn't make you a racist to be upset about that. Sure the infrastructure needed to be increased but that has to be paid for in advance of immigrants coming and with so many people on the poverty line who should pay for that? You make it seem like it's our duty to take in and provide all the services necessary, it's not. If the immigration wasn't so out of control the systems would be able to keep pace and people wouldn't be so upset. The wealthy need bodies to tax and sell stuff to. If they can get $100 from a million people they can stay rich. The poor will stay poor, and the rich will stay rich.

The federal government failed on immigration. They correctly identified the demographic needs but ignored everything else. There was already not enough housing nationally and then the government added millions of more people also needing housing. Then it also seems that a high percentage of immigrants have been priotorized incorrectly many having little education or needed skill sets.

While some comments suggest that so-called immigration consultants from other countries are responsible for sending students, isn't it ultimately the responsibility of the Canadian government to reject the visas? If I were to send 1 million students tomorrow, would you blame me, or the government that approved visas for these 1 million students?

They all come to the GTA. I worry my kiddo won’t have housing for uni when of age and won’t even experience a summer job or as a teen as all retail and all jobs previously for youth to gain first employment and experience are now taken by newly arrived immigrants and they keep the positions as they don’t actually come for degrees and schooling for needed areas of employment in the country

What a contrast. The USA has an illegal migrant issue, and Canada has legal immigrant issues. Unlike the USA, where people are pouring into the country illegally, Canada has created its own problems by importing a lot more people legally than it can afford to accommodate in terms of housing and jobs. Canada could have done a much better job managing the influx of immigrants and international students.\n\nThe Canadian government, colleges, landlords, and business owners are the winners. The government and colleges collect billions in taxes and fees, and landlords collect millions through inflated rent. Business owners get a lot of cheap labor and sell those LMIs for $50k—$60k each.\n\nThe losers are Canadian citizens. Whose quality of life and livelihoods are in jeopardy.

I am of immigrant descent (European/asian). My wife is also of immigrant descent. Both of our families had professional degrees in their country of origin and were vetted by immigration Canada before being allowed to immigrate here. Both families also had to demonstrate sufficient funds and sponsorship to create a life here. That level of vetting potential immigrants does seem to apply anymore, and loopholes seem to be used more frequently to bypass the vetting in order to get a footing here (ex. Temporary foreign worker, temporary foreign student programs). \n\nIf Canada had an issue with infrastructure, housing, health care, education prior to 2023, then addition of greater than 1.3 million immigrants within a 1 year period can only exacerbate those issues. Just look how our per capita GDP is now.

Canada's population is 40 Million. Of this, 10 Million (25%) are Immigrants. 10% of Canada's population are from India.\nToo much Immigration creates too much demand. If Supply can not meet the demand, then prices rise and Canada becomes unaffordable. We simply are unable to compete for homes, jobs, doctors and dentists. Enough is Enough.

The woman talking about public housing programs has no idea whats going on. There are a million various immigrants a year coming in through all the various programs. There is no public housing program that could handle that. a decade of output from a housing program wouldn't handle a single year of this immigration. The private sector building housing is the only way to proceed, but immigration is too high to ever catch up.

It has driven housing up 500% over 20 years and is completely replacing the existing population. It is the malicious, intentional, total destruction of the country as it once was.

In a country where couple of hundreds of thousands of jobs are created annually but government brings millions of immigrants there’s gonna be a problem , the root cause of out of control housing prices and inflation is out of control immigration,

Canadas natural immigration rate is about 350k/yr. At the same time we were facing a housing crisis caused mainly (at the time) by oppressive and inefficient regulatory systems. That was before Trudeau, without explanation, increased immigration to 1.5 Million per year. Canada used to immigrate primary families with a 50:50 male female ratio. Now we primarily import single military aged males resulting in the current near-70:30 male female ratio. This is a massive concern.

Dear Americans. We have a political class that will do anything house prices high. Most notably we welcomed 1.3 million immigrants while only building 200k homes and creating 400k jobs. Our immigrants are being cheated and deceived. Our people and our new immigrants deserve better. Even many of our Canadian born citizens are looking to go south. So on behalf of my people, I am sorry for exporting our problems.

Funny how most Canadians struggle to make ends meet but all these new immigrants have 100k cars and million dollar houses. Follow the money it will eventually lead to criminals and terrorists
