Immigration is out of control ! It is 2025 , the year isn’t even half over and they have already brought in almost 1 million mostly Indians . You need to get your facts straight .

Just want to highlight something critically important : Canada had in their past gone through a 10 million increase from 20 to 30 million ppl in 30 years from 1970 to 2000. then in the next 25 years, going from 30 to 40 million ppl. so essentially it's not just population increase which only accelerated a bit, but it's the fact they didn't expand their economic market size to accomodate and reflect the needs that come with this increase.

I have heard the skilled laborer argument for years. Canadian governments keep saying we need to bolster the work force with immigrants. I've heard this for 20+ years, and they're still saying it. It hasn't worked because bringing in immigrants only treats the symptoms not the cause.

Immigration has been a joke for years took my wife 10 months to get PR in 2017 now she is a Canadian citizen contributing to Canada trudope and his morons let in a boatload of unskilled multiple children asylum seekers??? Who now drive brand new cars b3cause trudope pays for their rent the food etc and what do they do ? Door dash skip the dishes drivers they are a drag on society BUT if u need a home care worker to look after our disabled people u can’t bring in foreigners, those agencies are in dire need of staff but trudope brings in door dash drivers thank god that drama queen resigned in disgrace

My husband and I were both immigrants to Canada, he from S. Africa, I from the UK. I never experienced any discrimination. My busband was diagnosed with late stage bone cancer at 31 years old. The medical care was so good that he lived another 6 mostly happy years. We were supported by the Ontario Health Care system with visiting nurses, even housekeepers and received every help we could possibly need, at no cost to us. I will always be grateful for the love and support we received from Canadian friends, employers and the medical professionals. What a country! I am in Europe now but feel strongly that Canada, the EU, Britain, the wonderful Ukrainians (I know quite a few refugees) and other countries of good will should work together for a better world. We are a family and families support each other in difficult times. Americans welcome when they are ready.

I think we need to give it time. In a year or two picture should be clear. I don't think tariffs are necessary a bad thing long term if they spike more production of everything or at list anything in US. Short term it would be painful for everybody tho. We become a country of no production. Only consumption is not healthy. It is how every empire behaves on a last breath. Look back in history. Rom, Spain etc.Sooner or later we wouldn't be able to exchange worthless green paper to goods anymore outside of the country unable to produce anything inside the country and we die. Now that he's on his way out, he gives his best speech ever?! American people, we thank you for words of support. NOW, figure out a way to get rid of Trump and the oligarchs. It will bring down democracy everywhere if America goes down this dictatorial path. WWIII will never be Zelenskyy's fault, it will be your country's fault. Ensure that he does not trample your constitution and find military backing to stay on past the four years if you can't get rid of him soon. This is not anti-American, it is just fighting back from an unnecessary trade war. It does however break my heart because many Canadians have family on the U.S. side. I know it would also break my father’s heart as he grew up in New England and had a lifetime affection for the U.S. I despise politics and have not been a proud Canadian for a few years but I have to admit that this speech is getting me going again. Canada needs to get its act together and rebuild its military, not to fend off the U.S. but to hold its own should other countries decide we are ripe for the picking. I want U.S.-Canada relations to be tight again. We’re neighbor. We will have our disagreements and that’s fine but these trade wars will hurt everyone and, if it lasts, may leave lasting grievances.

I used to live in a bubble thinking that even though life is tough and it's harding to make a living here but at least it's more peaceful here than the States. I'm sorry our Canadian's fellows, this is not personal, it's just business. All this year the USA economy has been decreased because we buy (importing) more goods than selling (exporting). We are no in good shape economically to support other countries' economies. We need companies to come back to produce in the USA and those extra charges are an incentive to start producing again in the USA. After our economy is better, we can make new deals. \nAbout Fentanyl, it is funny that he said that it was all good and after that, saying just in the last months implemented all kinds of security measures. LOL \nHe speaks nice, but he is not a smart guy. Putting tariffs back to the USA makes it worse with Donald Trump. Donald Trump is a businessman, he can keep increasing the taxes and in the end, Canada will be hurt more than the USA. I suggest to peacefully open a negotiation with Trump, not to fight back at the same level... don't take it personally, it is just business.

I think it is time to use all the unused land to grow our vegetation and any thing else that gets planted to use for the Canadian. We do have the brain and the finances to grow our own fruit even if it takes a couple of years for the plants to produce the vegetation to supply the need. We need to manufacture our own goods. It is only one simple issue we will face but it is one we can handle! Oil, gas, car parts and cars...do it here and get some of the unemployed individuals Living on Provincial Checks off their butts and put them to work. Given the events of the last few years in the U.S., Canadians have to realize that things can get even worse, and will likely never be the same. There is very little reason to believe that the ties Canada has had with the U.S. will ever be what they were, or indeed any reason to believe that that is even desirable now.

I believe we need to look at WHY Trump is placing tariffs and it does seem more than just fentanyl and a protected border. I read that Canada has had tariffs on American imports for years before Trump took office.

Tariffs bring in cash INSTANTLY to his treasury, so that he can spend it instantly on tax cuts. Any other income generating taxes need laws to pass Congress and will not produce CASH for years...
