When so many immigrants enter a country that its infrastructure can not handle the increased population, people start to be anti-immigration. People who are not the majority race and culture, are easy targets for people who are frightened by the rise of homelessness and crime, and loss of employment. In Canada, even in small rural towns, long established residents see that their children can not find work, or housing, while obvious immigrants are everywhere as waitresses, cashiers, and other unskilled jobs which their children used to do when starting out. On top of that, many Canadians can not find a family doctor, and our healthcare system is strained to the breaking point. People are frightened, and want the government to tighten immigration policies. I think that our government did not consider all the factors when it opened the door so wide for immigration. Now it has to take a step back, and ensure that the infrastructure is in place before immigrants arrive in Canada, not be forever trying to fix the problems after they have caused havoc!

Germany is looking for cheap labor. There are many skilled people already in Germany either considering moving to another countries like Canada, USA or Switzerland where they can get a better salary. For example, one of my old colleague was working as an software engineer manager and lost his job because of layoffs done by a US company. When he was searching a new job for 11 months, the salary range offered by Germany companies was ridiculous. He moved to UK almost doubling the salary, he also received another offer with 1.5x salary from Amsterdam.

I came to Germany from the UK in 1991, and was already fluent in German. In those days the Ausländerbehörde was incredibly unfriendly and demanding. They have got better over the years but there is definitely different treatment of UK citizens people from other countries. When I applied for citizenship before Brexit, it only took a few months. Now although it is supposed to be a faster process, it takes more than a year to even get an appointment, which is completely ridiculous. The reason is the lack of personnel. I accompany foreigners to the Ausländerbehörde and there is definitely different treatment of non-eu foreigners although it depends on the individual person in charge there. Even the period of residency given can vary between applicants by 1 to 5 years, depending on who they see or which Ausländerbehörde. This seems very strange and unfair considering that an annual fee for a residency permit is around 100 euros and involves 2 visits (the foreigner has to take at least a 1/2 day off to attend the appointment).

When immigration is so massive in the hundreds of thousands per year that is surpasses a country's capacity to integrate them especially if you consider the tremendous cultural difference between Canadians and Indians. I live in Canada, all these problems are true and also health care system is not that good and high taxes…..However, life feels secured as food, environment and roads quality is AAA grade. You can actually achieve dreams as jobs pay good, even though you can to spend in dollars but remember macbook will cost 1.25 lakh and $2000 in Canada but there is huge difference in income, same goes for cars which translates that normal middle class family can have cars like Mercedes, audi and BMW which is not achievable in India. Me and my husband were considering moving to Vancouver ten years ago. Soon we realized that we wouldn't be able to make enough money to support the same standard of living as we are used to in our home country, Hungary. This summer we spent our vacation in Toronto and Vancouver, and it was a wonderful experience. However, prices went up, housing is insane. Even though we both work in IT and have connections, it seems impossible to get a salary enough for rent and food, not to mention mobility. Healthcare is also a factor. \nI hope we'll be able to visit Canada again someday though.

If you don't want to have Uber drivers, the first thing you need to do is change the system of hiring highly skilled professionals. I was shocked to find out that even software engineers need a recommendation from one of the IT companies in Canada to get hired. This is such nonsense, especially considering the fact that Canada is far from the best country for technical professionals.

My experiance with German culture is kind of simillier. All though I am not from Germany but from Austria.\nThe simillierities are kinda parallel. \n- The housing market is getting worse everyday.\n- Compared to the other countries the job market is not that matured. Specially in tech. The salaries are capped and you can reach the ceiling super quickly.\n- All though I don't have any friends here, my overall experience with people weren't that bad, specially considering I don't speak German.\n- Occational racism? sure. But there were good people as well. I know you are young but if you are planning on leaving Canada, consider the potential repercussion on your old age security (OAS) benefits. If you are living outside Canada, you must have resided in Canada for at least 20 years since the age of 18. Not a showstopper but something to consider. Remember, unlike CPP, OAS benefits are given to qualified individuals regardless of their work history. Even at 38, you would still be young enough to begin a new career in a foreign country and accrue enough work credits to qualify for their social security. This means you could potentially have two sources of income in retirement. That's on top of your CPP or any other personal retirement funds you may have with your employer(s).

I never usually comment, but really had to speak up. Those of you from the US should not be involved in this conversation considering ur melting pot country with little diversity who is unaccustomed to diversity anyways (i went to america and was shocked at how little coloured minorities there were, and if there were it was just one type that was not brown). Canada has always had brown people, and many of the people you are talking about could be those that immigrated many years ago here or those that were born here. This is different from those immigrating who are also brown - you are grouping those from all different countries in South Asia (with brown skin) as Indian. Just because you see a brown person working in Walmart, it could just be someone who was born here or came here a long time ago. Brown people and Indians included are not in a majority in any way - just look at the population stats.

I'm puzzled by the constant negativity and sense of entitlement I've encountered. As an immigrant from the EU, I've lived in Germany for six years and have only experienced racism once, at a club entrance. Ironically, I faced more racism in my own country during elementary school. In contrast, I've never encountered any discrimination in my job, studies, or social interactions here. Germans from various backgrounds, including dorms, sports teams, and university, have welcomed me to their gatherings. I'm a person of color and speak imperfect German, yet I've been treated with kindness and respect.\n\nGermany has offered me free education and incredible opportunities in industry and research. While I'm not wealthy, my quality of life is significantly better than it was in my home country, with plenty of room for improvement. I'm grateful for these opportunities and willing to contribute to the community. My advice is simple: be thankful for what you have, try your best, and if you're not a good fit, consider moving elsewhere and express your gratitude. It's that straightforward.

I was born in Canada but my parents came here a while back for a better life almost 25 yrs ago. They immigrated legally, my father was very educated in his field of engineering but redid his education here. Am I apart of this problem? I feel as Canada is my home and I have adopted a lot of the customs, but if I’m disrupting the flow of how the medical system works because of my foreign blood then I might consider finding another country that is already preset for someone like me.

Uncontrolled immigration has turned some of Canada's cities into cost of living hell holes, 1 in 4 Canadians live in poverty, yet we are still considered a rich country, still a member of the G7, even though we have dropped rank and are now the 10th wealthiest country in the world and have some of the highest taxes on the planet. At this rate, where will we be in a few years?

Trudeau is good. Even if Canada becomes a junk country, according to some people's views, most people consider it to be going in the right direction. The power of majorities! If you don't like it, you have to consider emigrating to a conservative country; it is part of the solution.

Systematic racism is a part of the system. I am a civil servant scientist working in a French lab. Before joining my new position, I worked 6 months at KIT which is considered top 3 ranked university in Germany. The way I was treated was not right for me. I am a dutch citizen who worked in academia in different countries, including Japan, US. The only place I faced racism at academic level was Germany. The head of group allows him/herself to infer into your personal life just because they can fire you anytime they want. The only country which has 6 months of probation is Germany, nowhere else keeping you like a hostage to shape you as their slave and if you do not obey, you are fired. Sorry but Germans are the ones taling their country down big time. They gotta first how to not live in WW2. They feel yet as if they are a better race and others just modern slaves.
