Smart world leaders know the ramifications of starting tariffs wars. They historically have never produced winners. Only \nlosers, because they hurt consumers on both sides. That’s \nwhy they are hardly ever used as weapons to settle disputes.\nWorld leaders as a result initiate dialogue over tariffs to resolve \ndisputes. We unfortunately do not have a smart leader at this time.

Well, cant stand justin. But... \n\nCanadian's have been hurting bad for a few years now. What's a few more. \n\nI say screw tariffs. Just shut it all off. Power, oil, movie production, soft lumber, maple syrup, ALL natural resources. \n\nJust dont sell it to them at all.\n\n\nBuild up our own infrastructure and become the global monster we should be.\n\nProudly Canadian!

One good question is who would be more hurt by the tariffs? The Americans or the Canadians?
2025-02-02 0
Mexico and Canada imposing tariffs on the US is not going to hurt us like they think. We have more ships and planes and are able to move more goods faster to other countries who will buy. Not to mention the fact that Mexico and Canada were never fair to us in trading. In the end they will have hurt themselves way more then the US. Why do you think Trump has done this and most of us are not worried.

canadian here - we should put tariffs on energy only, the tariffs on everything else will just hurt Canadians, if our dollar is crappy Americans will spend money here if there are no tariffs.
2025-02-01 0
Tariffs can be a useful tool but it shouldn't be the only tool. For this US president it's like his only tool. Applying tariffs to everything is like trying to use a hammer to fix everything. It will just end up hurting ordinary people ?

Canada putting tariffs on American goods hurts Canadians much more than Americans.
2025-02-01 1
Canadian here. The tariffs will hurt. And this may just be the beginning of a sprawling trade war, but make no mistake, Canada is not for sale, and Canada, despite its soft spoken nature, is determined to keep going on its own way. We have free trade with the EU and Pacific nations. For any US companies who find themselves caught up in tariffs for their export markets, consider setting up your export shop here, to keep your Canadian customers, and continue to have access to European and Asian markets under free trade agreements that are respected, and operate independently of any decision made by President Trump. Businesses need predictability and stability, and your neighbors to the north can provide that to all of your export markets.

Important note here: The administrative burden alone will harm Canadians more than it hurts the U.S. Furthermore, the tariffs will affect working class Canadians far more than 'bourgeois' Canadians. As bad as it sounds its better to work things out rather than retaliate. This is 4 years people.\nI highly recommend that people start reading into why these tariffs actually came to be instead of relying on the Canadian media.

Trudeau doesn’t need to implement tariffs. I suspect Canadians are abandoning US imports which will \nLower demand for US goods without hurting the Canadian taxpayer.
2025-02-01 0
King Trump and his wealthy friends will not care about tariffs. Broke and middle class Americans will be hurt the most
2025-02-01 0
The tariffs will hurt the US economy, but Canada and Mexico can't replace USA consumerism by trading with other countries, so who will break first?
2025-02-01 1
Trump promised retaliatory tariffs in response to Canada's tariffs. So what will the new tariffs be: 50%? USA will be hurt by Canadian tariffs, but given its smaller economy, in four years, Canada will be economically destroyed by US tariffs. Canadian dollar, which is 1.45 to the US dollar, may soon rise to 1.8-2.0, and Canada's leading bankers have said that Canada is looking at high interest rate and recession.

So you guys do know that these produce he tariffs on hurts Americans because all of the produce we use are mainly from Latin America
2025-01-27 0
WHO does the tariffs hurt? AMERICAN CITIZENS!\n\nA 5th grade Civics student knows more about tariffs than the President of the United States!
2025-01-27 0
Every country should unite and shut the US down, they’ll only end up hurting their own economy by issuing tariffs, which is good for everyone else. Time to break the Zionist hegemony.

Hey, yankies. Tariffs only hurt the American people, not Trump. So, are the UNITED STATES OF TERRORISM gearing up to try and destroy yet another SOVEREIGN government? Like they have around the world and most recently in Ukraine. ????\nThe world is wise to you yanks now. YANKS, NO THANKS. STOP THE ISRAELI/ US OCCUPATION OF GAZA. FREE PALESTINE ????????????????????????

Trump has no clue how Tariffs work he only hurting the USA.
2025-01-26 0
Trump's tariffs will hurt America. Columbia's will probably hurt Columbia, too. That's why it's called a trade war. It's a conflict of economic attrition. Who hurts the worst the longest usually folds; but a depression can also be triggered by such, as Herbert Hoover's tariff fought trade wars contributed to the Crash of 1929. So are we dancing toward catastrophe? Possibly. Go ahead and laugh. Personally I'll wait for my schadenfreude - it'll be delicious. ???

Instead of tariffs that dont hurt those that matter, what if the plane flew to 50+ military bases across south america instead and exited the base
2025-01-26 0
This upside-down piece of candy corn still has no clue whatsoever how tariffs actually work. They will hurt American consumers! Economics 101!

Read this American Trump is destroying your Contry if not he gets remove\n\nExplanation of Article 5\nArticle 5 of the NATO treaty is the cornerstone of the alliance's collective defense principle. It states that an attack on one NATO member is considered an attack on all members. This mutual defense clause has been invoked only once—after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.\n\nThe United States is bound by Article 5, meaning it cannot disregard its obligations to other NATO members, such as Denmark. The principle ensures that all members protect and support each other, creating collective security.\n\nWho Pays for Tariffs?\nA tariff is a tax or duty imposed on imported goods. There’s often confusion about who ultimately pays for tariffs. Here are the key points:\n\nImporters Pay Tariffs: When goods cross a border, the importer in the receiving country is charged the tariff.\nHigher Prices for Consumers: Importers typically pass these costs to consumers, making goods more expensive in the country imposing the tariffs.\nImpact on Competitiveness: While tariffs can make domestic goods more competitive, they often harm the economy by reducing trade and innovation.\nFor example, if the U.S. imposes high tariffs on European goods, American consumers and businesses bear the cost through higher prices, not European producers.\n\nTrade and Alliances\nThe text highlights the interconnectedness of trade policy and diplomacy. Harmful trade policies, such as aggressive tariffs, can damage relationships with long-standing allies like Denmark and the EU. If the U.S. alienates its allies, it risks losing the strategic partnerships and security benefits provided by NATO and other agreements.\n\nDenmark and other EU countries offer trade opportunities but expect respect and cooperation in return. Breaking ties with the EU or NATO could leave the U.S. isolated and weaken its global influence.\n\nConclusion\nArticle 5 ensures mutual security within NATO, including for the U.S.\nTariffs often hurt the country imposing them, as costs are passed to domestic consumers.\nStrong alliances are critical for both trade and security. Conflicts with EU or NATO countries could isolate the U.S. and undermine its global partnerships.

Fun fact: Columbia is where we get a major chunk of our coffee from, so now our coffee, our fuel for working Americans will get more expensive if this is a prolonged tariff! We're just hurting ourselves with these outrageous tariffs because all of these countries (even Columbia) can just sell the supply of whatever the US is putting a tariff on to other countries like in Europe or Asia, or could just put retaliatory tariffs on us, leading to a possible trade war over FUCKING COFFEE. Our 2 party political system sucks harder than the jet engines of those planes that got denied.
2025-01-26 0
Trump and the MAGA morons should look up the meaning of trade in a dictionary. There is a give and take, there’s buying and selling, that meets the needs of both parties. Trade tariffs is not how anyone with common sense wants to deal with any and every minute dispute like a senseless toddler. Both sides get hurt. Even the tariffs on Russia hurt other countries that imposed them too and that was a calculated move because the war calls for extreme measures.\nWhat the Trump sycophants that probably can’t read need to know is that Colombia accepted hundreds of these flights in the last few years. The only reason they pushed back now is on human indignity. This is the first they received a flight with their civilians cuffed up like animals. The Colombian president said that is not how you treat humans, at least not my people, send them back in a civilised way where they are not dehumanised and we’ll take them. He even sent his own planes later and took them back.\nA sane leader would order his team to review the process and advise them of appropriate measures going forward. An insane, thin skinned snowflake throws tantrums in their diapers and these Trump tariffs are precisely that. Sure, this will reduce the cost of living for the idiots that voted for him ??‍♂️
2025-01-26 0
trump is ultimately only hurting Americans...such an idiot! Because Americans will not be able to afford the tariffs, hence less trade.
2025-01-26 0
Some Americans still don't realise tariffs don't hurt the countries, they hurt Americans. ????
2025-01-26 0
Can you guys report that this was a loss for Trump because the Colombian president said that he has no problem putting a tariff right back onto us. And then got his way by having the Colombians deported in a more humane way. Maga, it’s going to think this is a victory when it’s not and really, it’s just hurting the American people.
2025-01-26 0
How will everyday Americans react to the rising cost of Colombian imports due to Trump's tariffs? He's using us as pawns in his political game while hurting both U.S. consumers and Colombia.
2025-01-26 0
Colombia does not have to accept these migrants legal or otherwise..trump thinks he can do something and everyone will comply...well the President of Colombia put a stop to that and all the tariffs that Trump puts on Colombia will hurt the american public more than anyone else..four yrs from now America will be in an economic disaster..
2025-01-26 0
Wrong! It doesn’t cost Americans more when a tariff is placed. It forces the incoming product manufacturer to lower its costs so people will still buy, and if people still buy, the percentage of tariff will fund the us government vs our income taxes. If they don’t lower their costs, they risk people not buying which hurts their business and hurts the country they are in because they don’t make as much money to send taxes to their country’s government
2025-01-26 0
Donald Trump has disgraced America! He's destroying everything we were once proud to be: American. \nTrump's tariffs hurt us!\nF. Donald Trump

I just heard that the Colombia cave into Dictator trump because the tariffs would hurt the Colombia more than it would hurt America.
2025-01-26 0
Tariff hurts us....
2025-01-26 0
inbound tariffs dont hurt the countries material is coming from but it hurts the receiving country,s like us. basically he just added another commodity and goods tax to american business. Columbia is probably laughing at this. what material that is directly shipped from them is probably illegally smuggle past customs anyway tariffs would have no effect
2025-01-26 0
Does he STILL not understand that tariffs don't hurt the foreign country, they hurt American consumers of that countries exports? Do his cult followers not recognize that?
2025-01-26 0
Trump is so impossibly stupid\n\nDJT: Hey Columbia, take these people back!\nColumbia: No\nDJT: Take them back or I will impose tariffs on you!\nColumbia: You mean tariffs that will not affect us one bit, but make the price of our goods more expensive, thus hurting your own people?\nDJT: Yes! Do what I want, or I will hurt my own people and blame YOU!\nColumbia: And they're stupid enough to believe that?\nDJT: They voted for me, didn't they?\nColumbia: Fair point. Still...........no.

When did the readership of cnn get so frikking stupid. The US is the biggest consumer country in the world. Tariffs will only hurt Americans, all of your costs will go up. You pay tariffs, we don’t. For Columbia, your coffee, tropical fruit like bananas, flowers are going up. For Canada, your gas prices, housing costs. Mexico, fruits and vegetables….basically your inflation is going to sky rocket.
2025-01-26 0
The United States will feel the tariffs only hurts the American people. All products will go sky high. How you like your boy now magas? Not only eggs will go up but everything!!!
2025-01-26 0

2025-01-26 0
People don’t understand tariffs. It hurts the foreign country far more. It means American companies will not buy from them leading them to lower prices or not do business with America. which is catastrophic for them.
2025-01-26 0
So, tRump way on governing is to threaten everyone that doesn't agree with him isn't that the approach of a dictator. But the tariffs are going to HURT US the American consumers not the other countries.
2025-01-26 0
Colombia and these other countries aren't gonna be paying for these tariffs so I don't know what kind of threat this is to Columbia. Tariffs, they're gonna hurt the American people and nobody else!
2025-01-26 0
All this means is that USA consumers pay more for whatever Colombia exports and what consumers will need ( supermarket food produce for example) ?? It does not help US farmers who cannot deliver to super markets their field produce because Trump is deporting workers who go into the fields whom primarily collect it !!!\nTrump is basically taxing the US consumers and pushing prices up !! The US importer pays the tariffs (US customs tax at port of entry) whom then passes it onto the consumer !!\nThe consumer can of course not purchase the product which would hurt Colombia exports; the importers would have to hurriedly find another source whom would probably also increase their price because of demand.\nTrump is a loser and always will be; his businesses are mostly failures; even casinos !!
2025-01-26 0
Every country that Trump threatens or in fact imposes tariffs against should immediately respond in kind. HIGH TARIFFS AGAINST THE USA!! Make it hurt, make the morons who voted for Trump feel it most in their wallets!
