I've said this for years. As far as me wanting to move to Saudi or something... I'm in the U.S., though. I'm completely lost as to where I'd go, how to get visas and work, and it's overwhelming to think about... I'll be taking notes as well, and God willing, you'll find where you're destined to be ...

I cant blame you for the cold. I dont love the winter either. I moved back to the cold winter from the coast and boy do you get spoiled on either coast of canada for weather! I just dont like to be cold. If I could move to the USA, preferably texas. I would go. In terms of living costs, its sad how many canadians dont understand that places like BC and ON have been pricey for a long time. Its new in other provinces to be this expensive and AB, SK, MB, QC. While some of those provinces are more expensive than others, they're new to the super high prices and many refuse to recognize how ON and BC have been paying these prices far longer then inflation right now, which isn't new either. While I'm not muslim, I am LDS and we are not a favourite religion in society either. We get chastised all the time and nobody bats an eye. I've been insulted by employers, our church buildings have been set on fire. I still have to explain why my faith doesn't believe in working on sundays (as employers want that these days). I think some religions or non religious dont want to recognize what we get put through too. Even though we can relate to muslims in our own way. My faith enjoys serving communities with the muslims, I have worked with muslims and many are just the kindest people! The first president of our church got murdered and our people got chased within the USA and americans seem to believe that this doesn't happen in their own country but the same hate has and continues to happen in my faith. So I can understand, we face a lot of rejection when we speak about our faith. I can understand in my own way how you feel.

My family moved 22 years ago from Mumbai to Toronto…while the struggles said on your channel are real, there are also perks which I feel like you didn’t get to experience. If people have good jobs, stable family life then DON’T move…culture shock is huge that people moving from India don’t consider, just by wearing and eating western food doesn’t make you western! \nThere are sacrifices to be expected which you don’t realized as your great grandparents or grandparents might have made when they started out! \nMoving to another country is never easy, unless you’re loaded with $$$. People in India are lazy as they have people working for them and don’t realize how difficult it is living outside of that lifestyle (not everyone in India can afford housekeepers, cleaners). Being independent and doing things on your own has its own positive (just need to figure it out). \n\nI have worked in healthcare for 16 years and let me tell you…social system works better as everyone gets the health service without being judged about $$. Healthcare is based on priority around the world but people don’t understand this as they feel like their problem should be attended first no matter what! \nNot all drugs are legal in Canada, marijuana is legal though with acceptable limits…you probably were misinformed about drugs! Teach your kids about right /wrong when it comes to drugs, smoking, alcohol and that’s the best you can do! I know people who live in India and do all that which you mentioned you were worried about for your kids. \n\nWhat you experienced was a classic case of culture shock and your expectations didn’t match the reality! Moving away from family, changing lifestyle and being responsible adult (doing things on your own rather than relying on workers) is difficult but doesn’t make the country bad that have you an opportunity to settle! Don’t take things for granted even while you live in India…appreciate the effort that goes into everything- keeping roads clean, people working hard, etc. \n\nBest advice I can give to those considering moving to any foreign country is: Keep an open mind, be ready to work hard and visit the country you want to move to before you make the grave decision of uprooting everything! Things usually turn around and get better after 5 years mark- focus on upgrading your education if you have a basic degree from India (even you know how competitive things are in India, so how can western world not be!)\n\nBeing vegetarian- things are tough when it comes to food but living in Toronto has never been an issue. Even people living in India avoid outside food due to hygiene reason which is not a problem in Canada as food inspection is pretty strict (having worked with ministry of health). \nCities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, etc has variety of food options (including veg)…just have to be really open to trying other cultural food (Asian, Mediterranean, Italian,Mexican, etc). My parents are strict vegetarians and have never truly struggled when they are out. \n\nCost of living is definitely higher as the standard living is higher compared to India. Education (until grade 12) and healthcare are free (in reality, you pay tax for it), you get pension when you retire (based on your contributions and type of jobs you had)…you failed to navigate the system and I will say having family around is why you didn’t take opportunity to explore and learn on your own. \n\nPlease don’t come to Canada and make life difficult for other Indians who choose to willingly accept the culture and lifestyle here after going through this hardship- cost of living and housing has gone up dramatically in major cities because of immigration influx! If you’re serious about moving and putting up, only then move! Otherwise all the best for your future endeavours!

Indians like myself have opted out of working at Canada because \n1) It is costly to live here\n2) Canada harbours and provides safe haven to Pakistani and Khalistani terrorists that are a threat to Indians, specially Hindus living there. So you're at peace even with lesser pay and can focus your time on doing other things or simply relax.\n\nOne of the kids from our family this year avoided going to Canada for his masters only due to these reasons. about the work policy , I really like Canada, bc every one worked. Back home if u have something like peeper works , you went in the office the workers who is working in the office they keep you long plus you have to go back and forth so many times one day works takes so many days, because the won't u to give them money if you want your peper work done, every one work in the office or somewhere is bribery. Canadian employers and often hiring managers are very very conservatives and risk adverse. Both as someone who grew up here, worked abroad and came back, the whole process for getting a job (as well as seeing how my colleagues behave as hiring managers / HR), it feels we are decades behind most countries in how we hire. \n\nIf not for my previous Canadian experience before going abroad, it would've been much harder for me to get any employment here. Moreover hiring managers are insanely close minded relatively, I've had countless discussions with people who would rather go with a worse candidate that they know from previous or referral than someone who's obviously more qualified / knowledgeable. It's also possible that the hiring managers have no confidence in their own ability to gauge skills (long LONG rant in this regard...), so they always prefer to go the safest route (for themselves) rather than take any risk on someone who's more skilled.\n\nCanada is (well.. used to, 10 years+ ago) great to live but it's horrendous to make a living.\n\nwith everything going to a shitshow over last decade... we can't even have the first half of that sentence anymore. I now fully expect my kids to leave the country when they look for work and it's probably best for their careers / entrepeneurships (ANOTHER part canada is just hostile to SMBs).\n\nTransportation... yeah, anyone who's lived abroad will consider Canada public transport to be very very low tier. however, you tell that to life time Canadians and they'll be super offended, aggressively defensive how great it is, etc.

I came here 20 years ago from south asia. got my master's degree from Mcgill, started a business with my husband. We are doing well, working hard and having a good life in general. We did tighten our budget, planned our finances to a T. We live in Toronto, contrary to most, people are super friendly and social. Agreed, immigration needs to slow down to a bare minimum and prices needs to be adjusted, but please step out and touch grass. There is no war going on, canadian cities are still one of the best to live in the world. We frequently host get togethers with our neighbours, who are old stock canadians and new canadians alike. We support each other. We have a great community. Step outside talk to your neighbour.

As someone in his late twenties living in Quebec, I got to say this is very accurate. I won't say things are as bad as some other people are saying in the comments, but I do feel like the country is going downhill. For me, these are the main three things that feels wrong:\n\n1. We, as citizen, tend to offload every responsibility to the governments. Each election, they promise to handle more, but fail times and times again to deliver on their existing responsibilities. But we still vote for them, because we fear personal responsibilities. They created these immovable bureaucratic monsters and they lost control. They promise new shiny things instead of fixing what is already in place.\n2. We lost all notion of what is necessary. People gets more and more entitled which leads to overconsumption and frustation. Quebecers used to be proud peoples who survived with the little they had. Now greed has consumed our identity and nothing is holder us together.\n3. I feel that jobs are less and less useful to the society. Even I, as an electronic/software engineer, wonder if my job as meaning. I feel we lost touch with the concrete world. Some people have 0 contribution to anything useful and have really good salary and work conditions, while others bust their ass in shitty conditions. I feel like everything that we need is produced/done by a frighteningly small amount of individuals.\n\nBut from what I heard Canada isn't the only country to feel these. Just for context, during conflicts in Sudan, Syria, Ukraine ect the whole world unites to take them in more or less. \nHow Arab countries support Palestinians:\n1) Don't give them shelter in their darkest hour.\n2) Won't use their armies to support them. \n3) Won't push for other Arab countries to dismantle their Palestinian refugee camps.\n3) Use state media like Al Jazeera to lay all the blame on Israel and go back to chilling in palaces. \nDEFLECTION: Strategy to keep Palestinians refugees for 75yrs also works to feed my fussy 3yr old.

In the end it all depends on both the kids AND the parents. If they genuinely bring the parents over for the parents own sake its WONDERFUL, BUT....the truth is, that the cost of living in these countries is so high AND, the kids want to attain and maintain a certain standard of living, that BOTH husband and wife NEEDS to go out to work..and what happens is that they end up USING the parents only for babysitting, cooking cleaning etc.... AND for their PENSIONS.... But they're given no respect. So its up to the parents also. BCZZ they're SO vital to the survival of the family unit...they have that power to stand up for themselves and get the respect they deserve. But the thing is, indian parents are martyrs.....they will suffer AND complain...but they will never abandon their kids and let them suffer....so that cycle of misery and disrespect never breaks.... and the situation never changes. The best thing is for the parents to get that pension and go back home every six mths, and at least enjoy some of their life. Sad but true.???

All of those issues are the same in any OCDE country. \n\nHousing market is shit in Europe too, even worse I would say, but at least they have decent public transports, so you can live outside a city and still go to your work fast. That’s the only real advantage. (Okay maybe construction quality and norms also)\n\nFrom experience, aka a French software engineer now living in Quebec, cost of life is waaaaaaay cheaper here than in Europe. I just don’t buy shitty stuff I don’t need, and eat responsibly. \n\nSure Canada have a lot of issue. Probably due to the current liberal government and the usamerican capitalism, healthcare is in shambles (as any other healthcare system in OCDE), public transport is non existant, etc. \nWherever you go, at some different levels, theses are issues you find in any developed countries because this is just how we made our society and how it’s deteriorating because our model is just bad overall. \n\nI do have gripes with Quebec stuff, which I think it’s one of the worst province in the country, but as far as I’m concerned, as well as most of my immigrant friends, this is still a prime country to immigrate to. \n\nAlso, the Canadians are really welcoming, progressive, kind. (In general, not all of them, don’t get me wrong)\nOne of the best people I’ve encountered and this is very important when you immigrate somewhere.

lol...I left Canada 12 years ago...Canada is not moving forward, very little industries to choose, very little roles and positions to offer, the work culture is slow, lazy and dumb in general. Cost of living and tax is high. The government is not open to welcoming more outside investment or allow more companies into Canada. \nAnd having Trudeau as the PM makes everything just worse... \n\nThe only reasons I would go back to Canada, for a vist only, is because of the fresh air and trees and quietness. And maybe some food that I like...and to see my family. But that's all.....I moved back to Hong Kong, and then explored opportunities in mainland China as well. Honestly, after my experience back in Hong Kong it felt like Canada is at least 20 years behind. And after exploring mainland China, it feels like Canada is 40 years behind. \n\nSo yea, no plans to move back to Canada.....because even elderly homes in China now provides really high quality service compare to the ones offered in Canada, you would feel like the Canadian elderly homes are a prison for old people.

When I first came to Canada, I was shocked to learn most college graduates' ideal was to work for the government. In the US, the best students usually go into the private sector. Another point, an educated, experienced economist from Latin America immigrated to Canada but could only work as a language teacher to make ends meet. I met him at an evening class in Vancouver. To be honest, I don't think the decision makers care that much about where this country goes.

With 9 month of experience, I am truly considering going back to my country, here you cannot get a job related to the degree that you have even having 3 years experience with. They will pay the lowest in the low despite the Glassdoor average salary. Add on the high living cost and complex extremely long hiring process, there is no good career path and is all about survival. Sorry to say, but when locals are struggling, I don’t understand why asking foreigners to come… Pretty much many of us and locals are so disappointed+angry+frustrating, this country drain all my saving, I come here to work, not purely let Canada eating all my money. And yes, they said value education, but a degree will not let you to get an entry admin job cus they expected Master degree, lasting many of their systems and 10 years experience. Moreover, if you don’t have a car, the job will not consider you no matter it is an entry position.

They show a lot of grocery stores when they talk about monopolies, but it’s in everything. When I was getting my internet set up I found out only one of the two main companies in Canada is provided for my area (they do this on purpose). So I pay over $100 a month just for internet. And literally have no other cheaper option other than living with no internet. (I’m in a small town so there aren’t even any cafes or anything to pop into). And live alone. Another thing, we’ve got a big country, and I live in a rural community, so most of my colleagues drive at least 45 minutes to get to work, one way, because they’d rather live in the city. And this is NB so you can’t take public transportation like trains to get here, you’re driving on the highway to get here. Since the pandemic houses have more than doubled, I did get a raise, but it was I think 4% over the last three years. So cost of living is definitely increasing at a much higher rate. Before the pandemic I could buy a week of groceries for one person for $60, now it’s more than $100 for a week easily, and that’s with looking for bargains and reducing the amount of meat and fresh produce I eat. It can’t keep getting worse, because people already can’t afford it, so something is going to have to change before everything breaks completely.

I had such a trouble getting an apartment because of AirBnB's and other short term rentals. Having people only live in town for 6 weeks of the year before leaving town again for the rest of it. Bonavista has been pretty aggressive with trying to deal with it; but its certainly not enough.\n\nIt gets worse. The lumber mill has was sending as much as it could down south to the US during the pandemic so what build materials one could get was extremely overpriced and low quality making renovations take forever do to the lack of materials.\n\nWhen I was living in Labrador there was a hydro project and speculation caused rent to go from 500 to 2000 CND. The lack of rent control was crazy. I had no chance of ever moving back to my hometown and I'm stuck with part time work where I am.

Trudeau says he is working hard for Canadians every day. The evidence disagrees:\n- carbon taxes hit every item purchased or service required to live; housing, food, fuel etc. etc. Do you really believe 8 out of 10 Canadian families get more back than they pay in?\n- Trudeau promises to make housing cheaper but fails to recognize that the Immigration Invasion is a contributing factor\n- Trudeau says the gov't will borrow so Canadians don't have to. Evidence shows that consumer debt levels are the highest in the G7. His reckless borrowing has doubled federal debt and created a 40 yr. high in inflation. Mass immigration causes taxes to rise, gov't services to decline. Inflation, rents, and mtge costs rise. Is PM lying?\n- An immigration invasion pushes wage levels down and inflation up. Why won't PM talk about this\n- one in 4 Canadians has to go to food banks at least once a month. Meanwhile Ukraine gets $9 billion in Canadian aid for yachts while Canadians suffer. How is this helping Canadians. \nIf you believe Trudeau's rhetoric then if you are better off now than 8 yrs ago. Ask the truckers if you are more free. Wake up folks.

That is a obvious thing that if you are doing good in your home country then why would you leave it? Why for your children? If you can do good then why cannot your children do good as well. There is something wrong in your home country that is why you fear that your children won't be able to do good their. People now days think after moving to a new country they should be able to live the same way and work at same position within 2-5 years on what position they were working in their home country. Which was never the case before. People who came in 70s,80s,90s it took them close to a decade and for many even more to reach some form of stability and it is the same now. You are starting from scratch when you move to a new place. \nComing here, making a life here, still living here and praising your life back home is not the solution. The solution is if you do not like it here you are have your home country to always go to. Simple.

I wonder if the reason so many in so many places believe that medical care is a problem is actually a matter of expectations. I know that in the 90s, my little town in Kansas had as many imaging machines as the entire country of Canada, but Canadians were certain they had superior medical care, as did the English. Expectations.\nEven then, if something was so bad that only a silver bullet treatment would possibly help, they still send patients to the USA because they are not equipped to help. Quiet management.\nBut basic medical, especially if you don't have much money, was traditionally better in England. I don't think Canadians had choices, but the functional reality was similarly better than in the States. Expectations.\nFor some time, Americans have had a sense that miracles are practical things that happen all the time, just pull out all the stops to keep grandma in agony another week. This has been reinforced by the civil courts. It is dangerous to be a doctor who does not recommend EVERYTHING be done to prolong life, even miserable life. Insane expectations that waste a lot of money. \nBut basic medical? Just shut up and go to work. Expectations.\nA century ago, there were no significant differences in expectations amongst developed countries because the expectations, based on the technologies of the day, were the same. I am starting to question if sticking around is the right choice. But I’m so established and embedded here I don’t know how to uproot everything and move elsewhere. This story is very true. I came to Canada when i was 10. Was raised in Canada and life was great. All that changed in the last 10 years. Everything is sooo expensive you have to cut back on leisure activities that you need to keep your mind healthy after a long work week. All i did was work long hours for the necessities for me and my family. After a long conversation about a year ago with my wife, we decided to move back to Portugal (I have dual citizenship). We moved this past summer and couldnt be happier. Life here is much more laid back and you are not charged to do the simple leisure activities like going to a provincial park. Food is cheaper, housing is cheaper, insurance is cheaper and weather is 100x better. No more having to hibernate at home in the winters. Only thing i found more expensive here was electronics and fuel. Something needs to change in Canada.

Mom had to start as a care aide while she re-certify as a registered nurse even though she has a masters and taught nursing in a college in the Philippines. Dad had to settle as an appliance technician.\n\nThe 4 of us lived in a single-bedroom basement suite, but we bought a half-duplex in Vancouver in a couple of years, which would be practically impossible these days.\n\nI make a decent amount niw and own 3 properties, but if I have to buy my house at its current market value ($1.9m), I can't afford it. Even that half-duplex, my parents sold it at 6x during a down market years ago.\n\nThen there's crime and drugs: I've worked in the downtown east side of Vancouver since 2006 and the last couple or so years has been really bad - it's like a zombie apocalypse. They worked all the time doing every kind of imaginable job in every kind of condition. They built this country with their perseverance and hard work. The immigrants today, are selected on a points-based system, and the idea behind this is that someone with two university degrees, or trained in a profession, even if they don't work in their field in Canada because they're all sorts of barriers to transferring your education, are not very likely to be criminals or antisocial types. In other words, Canada has chosen to attract high quality candidates on the assumption that they would be less likely to become criminals, while they in turn, having been picked from the best in their society, arrive in Canada with very high expectations, and discover that actually they're going to have to work in all sorts of other kinds of jobs and will probably not work in their field, even though that's what got them the points to come to the country. This is the brilliant system brought in by Stephen Harper's conservatives, which brings in people with high education, and allegedly high skills, especially high language skills, so the government doesn't have to pay for their language training, but it doesn't consider the fact that these are very often people with other choices, who are not willing to work in construction or farming or service or retail or all those kinds of things that we desperately need workers in. The reason why we can't build enough housing has nothing to do with local governments and property values. It has to do with lack of labor. This education system, for some unbeknowned reason, is absolutely terrible, and provides basically no skills, training or education for the vast majority of high school students such that when they graduate high school, their forced to go to university or college. Since they have absolutely no training. In most parts of the world you finish high school and you have a trade, or you have some skill to begin working, the kids here know nothing. Nothing. Other than emotional safety, intersectional language, and wokeism. On top of that, the government has brought in every kind of environmental restriction and regulation on account of incredibly loud, but actually small minority of enviro lunatics, who most of the time use these environmentalism as a cover precisely for protecting their high property values in very luxurious and special places around the country, and they oppose logging and all sorts of resource extraction under the guise of environmentalism. But it's actually to preserve their special privileged position often in some wilderness or island, where they might be the only one or a handful of families who got lucky to somehow own a property. Property and so they oppose everything on account of environmental reasons. But it's just to keep people out and preserve their own privileged place. This country also as most others suffers from the illness of dishonesty and lack of integrity brought about by a culture of marketers where nothing is the way it is said to be. Everything is a fine print. And we have gotten used to this as normal. We've gotten used to having credit cards, charges, 25% interest, we've gotten used to being ripped off constantly by all the corporations for everything, and nobody complains and they just borrow more and they just bottle it in and now it's finally coming out. Out. People are fed up of the enviral lunatics. They're fed up of people who complain and bitch one moment about the pipeline and then complain and bitch the next moment about the high cost of gasoline when the pipeline is temporarily shut down for servicing. It was just unfortunate that you did not get enough time to settle down. Moving to any new place is extremely tough and especially when you are moving to a completely new city. I live in Germany and I love it here. My wife and I came here to study, but my wife came first and she had a really bad first 6 months in winter. Things got much better later. We Indians miss house help so much in early days, but the fact is you have so much free time here and things are well organized. You don't waste time in traffic, you don't have to go 10 times to a government office to get work done, you don't have to sit with kids everyday to do homework, kids can come and go to school on their own, there is little dust so houses don't get dirty every day, everything is planned and no one is visiting your house suddenly. So in reality, doing the house chores aren't such a big deal because you have a lot of time.

I am Canadian and left in 2003 to learn Chinese. I now work in Asia and best decision I ever made. I now go back ever summer to see family. Canada is a-have-not economy compared to the rest of the world.
