Structural racism in Canada continues because of loopholes in the system that allow discrimination against minorities to continue. I will tell you why. Most decisions are made by the individuals workers who are not going by the laws of the Companies and Government Institutions and they use their power to discrimate against you based on their own biases . That is what I have experienced. I hurt my back picking up five residents in a day at work and let me tell you the process has not been easy. Everthing I say to them or paper that I gave to them from my Doctor is not good. Even if they have facts before them you are not to beleive. More strong laws need to be put in place to protect minorities.

The first step before understanding a conflict, let alone trying to solve it, is listening. The importance of just listening, and being witnesses to specific stories, human to human—and being reeducated on the lingering multi-generational consequences of past and current racism is what needs to be focused on, if you are an individual who feels like nothing is wrong. The task is merely to listen—and doubt your sense of comfort, satisfaction and preference for the status quo. Listening, and doubt can lead to change. Collective change can lead to understanding, and even, healing. It is so hard to doubt oneself at this level because “othering” is a very strong force in tribal instincts and dynamics. To be asked to let go of this seemingly real sense of self and group identity can be extremely unsettling, psychologically. I hope that is somehow helpful for people who are reading, in some way. I wish that our education not only reflected history accurately, but also made it mandatory to learn basic principles of psychology.

Class is what separates, your skin colour is the not why you are separated. Your wealth or lack of, is what separates you, not your race. Poor people have more crime because they have less not because of the colour of their skin. Gangs dont form to separate colour but to make money. There is organized crime everywhere, you've opened your eyes to racism. Now open them and see you've let organized crime into your business world now you aid in the laundering of criminals money. Those criminals formed gangs to disperse their drugs. The drugs promote crime and those that are convicted of crimes go to jail. If you have money you can support your drug habit, if you cant crime goes up. Rich people do drugs like poor people but poor people cant support it so crime becomes the means to get the next fix. Again it is lack of money that is causing crime. The reason it appears there are fewer white people arrested is the white people had opportunity from racism in the form of slavery. All the slaves would have nothing when slavery was abolished. Racism was the reason we had slaves. Economics is why we have gangs.

I'm calling bs. I grew up in Scarborough, the schools in my area were mixed Caribbean, Canadian, European, Indian (and other South asain), Chinese (and other East Asian), middle Eastern, African, Latino, everyone went to the same school. Everyone's families were and are poor going through the same struggle. By the time I got to highschool I took the higher level courses, I went to class everyday, I wasn't a smart kid I didn't get to uni, I took a bridging program in college and got into uni. It's not hard to climb the latter in Canada if you work for it. Meanwhile at the same school a large percentage of Carribean and Somalian black students do not go to class, they skip, they dont care. In fact these same kids picked and made fun of the Asian kids that did go to school. They have zero respect imo. You can call me whatever you want I am just speaking my personal experience. School never seemed like a priority to them. I'm not Chinese or Indian but those 2 cultures always seemed like the hardest working. Those kids went to every class and got the best grades. Again Caribbean and Somalian black students in my area were more likely to be distruptive in class and get into fights. As were Greek kids and Canadian/Irish white kids. I am only pointing out the black students in relation to this video. Personal accountability is important, I don't disagree there is problems with the system but let's not act like there isn't a problem within black and even poor white culture itself. Sometimes you have to look in the mirror.

Why not go undercover among blacks and coloreds and let us hear what they say about whites? I am a black man and in my opinion the only people I hear racism from every day are black people.

Very sad to be accused when you've done nothing. Two of my daughters were accused in a department store years ago. After my husband wrote a letter to the manager they sent a check to one of my daughters for $400.00. The security cop followed them thru the mall into another store then asked them both to follow her back to the department store! She checked their bags and found nothing stolen. They were then 'let go'.

I am European American and I’ve set off the alarm upon leaving a store several times and EVERY time they told me not to worry about it and just let me go. They even smiled as to say “sorry for the inconvenience.” Shameful.

Many, many years ago my bf and I were in Shoppers Drug Mart. We are both black and was there to buy contraceptives. He was in one aisle and I was shopping in another. After we bought our items their security followed us down the mall, stopped us, grabbed his arm and started leading him back to the store. They brought us to the back. They accused him of stealing. Made him empty his pockets and bag. When she didnt find anything, she said sorry and let us go. We couldn't tell our parents because at the time they didnt know we were sexually active. The security officer's boss offered us a $25 gift certificate- we didnt take it. I still hate going into their store.

We need to have a little bit of compassion for Muslims who are struggling with this. Imagine that you were born into Islam. You didn't ask for it. You just happened to be unlucky enough to be born into a Muslim country and raised under it. It's not their fault that they believe what they believe. \nWe need to help them to free them from the chains of Islam. The way to help them and free them from Islam is by educating them with the truth. It's difficult for them to accept because they have devoted their entire life to it. It's also quite a shock when they see all of the errors in the Quran which is supposed to be the pure word of an all-powerful and all-knowing God. Then they see things like- the sun revolves around the earth and sets in a pool of muddy water. It's like somebody telling you that your dear friend has been lying to you for the last 50 years of your life. You just can't believe it. You don't want to believe. You defend your friend, you love your friend. \n\nSo instead of insulting these poor Muslim people try helping them by suggesting that they read the Koran cover to cover from beginning to end. Then they will see for themselves that this 7th century book conflicts with modern scientific and historical knowledge. That's when they will realize that Muhammad invented the entire thing so that people would obey him and treat him like a god on Earth. That's when they will realize that he was a 7th century man who knew nothing about the scientific knowledge that we have now in this century. I went to canada with my family when i was 6 years old i thought it was so beautiful the native americans treated us with kindness my dad bought me some moccisens there. A chinese immagrant restaurant owner was nice to us the white people many of them wrent very nice this was in 1969 in the summer but i loved the wilderness and wanted to go back and see the indians.
