Canada can change any rules that it wants but they are saying that this was done overnight and they basically had to change years of planning and effort now.

I totally agree that immigration has been uncontrolled lately, a pause is necessary and students should leave once their work permit expires, but the point is if Canada wants to release the burden off economy, they should first deport/stop refugees and stop sending billion dollar aid to Ukraine. International students boost the economy by bringing foreign investment, paying taxes and not put burden if done in a controlled way. Refugees(not all) who take advantage of the benefits, funding wars eat up the tax payers money. What kind of quality students you are bringing that is another story.

Remember The protest, which was called the Freedom Convoy, that many Canadians were a part of and look at the reputations many of them endured because they stood up for what they believed in. Now international students protest across Canada because they want to stay once their student visa expires, and they have a chance to be granted their demands; I don't see our PM threatening to freeze their bank accounts. I just don't get it.

The problem is that india has a very far right wing party in power n it doesn't care about people of their own country except some...n punjabis dont belong in them that's why....they want to move to friendly canada...it's good on governments side of canada ro be helpful to those in need but their needs to be aome standard to it...with only young n having good qualifications or good job.

Problem is that the world sees Canada as weak, that all you have to do is bitch and moan, play the race card and our spineless government will bend over backwards to accommodate you. Forget laws, forget immigration policy, just take advantage of the Liberals desperate need to virtue signal and you'll get whatever you want.

Truth! The majority of Indian students came to work and not study. Why? Many had borrowed money to come or had their parents borrow large amounts of money because of the financial pressures. Many became Uber drivers adn working more than the 20 hr limit per week under the table. What is Canada going to do with one million foreign students. If you actually did study and graduate then you have a good education to go home with. You people think that you can come here, not follow the rules and now you want to change the rules just to suit you.

It's not the fault of the student's. They pay a lot to get here and they work in the service jobs that many young Canadians do not want to work in if we even have enough native born Canadians. They are victims of the greed of Post Secondary institutions and the mismanagement of the Trudeau government. Take a look at the open immigration policy for people coming from Iran, Syria and Morocco. Last time I looked Iran was not a friend yet we open the door to these countries. No vetting, no security and no age limit. 70 plus years old coming to Canada on Work Permits. This will affect our healthcare. Indian students paid and worked for their chance to live here. Take a look. Investigate the special programs for different countries in the middle east.

As a Indian living in Canada, I apologise for the havoc some illiterate unskilled people of my country have created in this beautiful country. Students in here if they want should contribute to the Canadian economy instead of working in grocery store full time.

I think the main objective of “international student “ program is being ignored and lost here. The objective of bringing “international students” to a country is for them to study and after they finish their studies to go back to their country. Isn’t that the case? Absolutely, there should be no other expectations.Then why are they even entertaining this nonsense. Unless they want to use the “International student” program as a backdoor to enter and work in Canada, and it looks like that’s the case. They finished their “studies” they need to go back to their home country.

So basically international students wants Canadian citizens to pay for Indian immigrants' cost of living and subsidized housing. Also, Indian students want to own a house in Canada in a Tim Horton employee salary?

I am dorry to say this, but you were lied to. People immigrate becourse they can. There are countries that are better to live in where you will have more security in life. i lived in Canada most of my life, visited Singapore twice, in my view it is the closest thing to a utopia in the world. I am curious to learn your perspectives on why you would want to leave Singapore and come to Canada, because though Canada is a developed country, it feels like a third world country a lot of the time due to all reasons you mentioned above.

I like visiting the US, but don't want to move there. I like the people however cities are not safe. My cousin told me that his small town had 110 murders (WV) . I had just visited Montreal. They have 4.5 million people and had 28 murders that year and were complaining that it's getting crazy. We live longer than Americans and deaths at birth are less. If I had to move to the US, I'd buy a gun. In Canada, to protect my home, I just put on the outside light and lock the door. However, I usually forget to lock the door when I go to bed.

This explains a lot about why Canada was such a great country with such a bright future but now has so many problems no one wants to live here, not even people born here.

Having a visa does not guarantee you entry. The purpose of the visa is to give you the opportunity to knock on the door and ask for entry. Then the officer has the right to make that decision 'yea or nay'.\nAll of the information you are giving is nothing new.\nI am living here for 35 years and those questions have always been asked. My siblings have been in Canada for 60 yrs...the questions have always been the same.\nIf certain countries' natives have a high rate of illegal overstay, people coming from those countries will be thoroughly vetted.\nThey are lucky the officer let them know upfront, that illegitimate overstay means rejection for the next application. Usually they do not give that advice, and when you apply the next time after overstaying, you are rejected without explanation.\nIf you want to stay longer and you have no schisms going you apply. That's all.

Well I say its hypocrisy. Year after year, the immigration numbers keep increasing, the number of people applying for a PR and also getting a PR from abroad and inside Canada keeps increasing. People say they're fed up and they still continue to live in Canada. I say its all a hoax, nobody actually leaves, its just when two friends meet they say they're fed up of Canada, but the fact is they want a PR or citizenship and they continue to stay in Canada. Indian here, I applied for a Canada PR and just missed the PR score cut off by a few points, I am from one of the top universities in India, have a computer science bachelors and masters in economics, I am opening my own tech startup here and would have loved to open it in Canada and drive Canada's GDP. \n\nBut you know who get the highest score for PR? Low skilled people who do fake degrees(which are so easy to get it is lame, by the way I can also do it, but it will spoil by education reputation). The immigration system of Canada is a joke, It treats all degrees, jobs and universities as equal. Best of all I was offered to pay $20k by someone to get a Canadian PR. Again I can pay that much but do I want to immigrate to a country whose citizenship is being sold this cheap?\n\nTrust me when I say it Canada is getting the most average and at times the worst people from India. Indian government though should thank Canada for taking all these low skilled people from India that send Canadian Dollars back to India. They take away the middle class jobs, housing, etc in Canada and worse for Canada send back money to India leading to pressure on Canadian currency and reserves.\n\nThe simplest solution is to halt whatever nonsense immigration policy Canada has and only allow three kinds of immigration, people who secure high paying jobs in recognised companies, entrepreneurs that get funding from investors Canadian government recognises and count university scores only from top tier universities.
