This means that there is no national education policy in Canada, unlike a lot of comparable nations. This means it is very difficult to plan, and educate the work force to fulfill anticipated needs. The solution? Put it on the list! Immigration Canada has a list of jobs that Canada needs to fill. If you would like to immigrate to Canada, and you have work history or education for something on the list, you're in! This is much easier that investing in Canadians and planning 5-10 years ahead. If we need more nurses...put it on the list! If we need more engineers...put it on the list! If we have too many already...take it off the list. A lot of immigrants are disappointed when they get here, because from the outside, Canada seems great. Yes, it is a very safe country, and has a lot going for it. But people may be surprised to find that they have been allowed into the country, to fill jobs no one else wants. And it's a lot of work to move here from another country, so immigrants tend to get stuck in a bad situation.

In other words... we don't want them and will never take them.

I live in Carbondale Illinois. I'm born in Chicago. People from other places tend to be more successful because it takes a go-getter to travel. I'm a go-getter and I do pretty well here, ironically I'm a Chicano (Mexican born in the US) and I'm considered a foreigner here. People get jealous because they think I'm a foreigner being successful.

Instead of blaming these people, one must question their own government authorities who make the rules and legislation to facilitate this. Maybe it's just the truth of a desperate Canadian economy that needs immigrants to keep fueling the 'aging' Canadian economic engine. These people come in and work hard, odd jobs (not to mention the exceptional skilled ones as well like Doctors, health care workers etc.) which the regular Canadian wouldn't do. I've been in Canada for 2 years without a Family doctor. Thank God, the last 10 different Doctors I met were all fresh immigrants and came to my rescue. Ask your conscience, without these immigrants, you wouldn't be getting your late night coffee at the time Hortons drive thru, no one to take your blood works without you waiting several months in waiting, no ways for universities to subsidize tuition fees for the poorer Canadian students. If immigrants stop coming in, the nice detached home you live in will go down in value, the nice truck you drive will become more expensive, your kids University tuition fees will sky rocket, Canadian companies selling groceries, furniture, etc. Will have lesser revenue and eventually get eaten up be American giants, Canadian companies won't have cheap labour to build those much needed housing. \nNot only question your government, but also question your 'own' people.. Where are they to serve you? Where are the so called patriotic 'original' Canadian Doctors'? They are off to US to earn more money. U think they care enough for their home country?\n If Canada won't, somebody Else will accept these people. Hence get rid of ur ego and attitude, it's YOU that needs immigrants more than they need you ?? \nLastly, don't forget your ancestors too arrived here in ship loads from Europe as immigrants, taking away the land belonging to the native Indians who were slaughtered and today live as prisoners in reservation lands... on their own soil. Do you not see how karma is being served, we called the natives Indians, and now the real Indians are coming and taking over. The new world is coming like it or not. Give the rule of the land back to the natives and the karmic cycle may dissolve. At the very least recognize and vote a native as a part leader. They take for granted their current situation of privilege for having a valid study permit and a pgwp later on, however, in a few years, they’ll be walking in their shoes as well. The truth is that this country has an economy to maintain and sadly they are not concerned about your personal realization or you achieving your dreams, they need to fund the education system and after you’re done studying you are not contributing anymore, therefore, the cycle must repeat over and over again. What’s is true is that nobody has nothing for granted, and not being strategic about this life project may make you lose everything. Just research, and plan.

No, that was not the conditions. Tax payers should not be paying them, they should not be going to food banks. That is set up for the taxpayers whose taxes pay for them. I know I am going to take quite a bit of flack here... as long as the international students follows the rules, completes their study in whichever program, and does not commit criminal acts then the students should be allowed to stay in Canada. Presumably their education would grant them a decent paying job. Now any illegal migrants or if one of the international students fails to graduate or commits a crime I say deport! I am also against international students from working full time, they should only be permitted part time work until graduation.

I have lived in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and now Alberta. Toronto was beautiful in the 60’s and 70’s then it started to change to what is now overcrowded, expensive and crime ridden. I would not choose it anymore. Winnipeg, Manitoba in the mid to late 80’s was lovely. People were polite especially in winter, when driving was challenging, friendly and it is very cultural. People would say it would be the best city in Canada if it was in the mountains. Now I live in Edmonton, Alberta a dirty city with a council that puts high priced, unaffordable recreation centres ahead of services that would benefit everyone. Now they want to increase the population to 2 million when it can’t afford to sustain the existing population of 1,568,000. The taxes this year have risen to 8.9% and house prices are expected to increase 6.5% for an average price of $458,000. I lived in Calgary, in the Fish Creek provincial park area close to the C-train and a good bus service to downtown. 45 minutes from the mountains and Kananaskis, great zoo, vibrant downtown and if it is not much more expensive than Edmonton and is ranked 7th best city to live in worldwide. To compare the 2 cities, Edmonton tries to be world-class but just doesn’t have what it takes. The people seem to have very little pride in their city, the parks are a mess of weeds which also grow wherever there is green space and they very possibly have the worst and rudest drivers in the country. Very sorry if this offends anyone.

Easy fix. CHOOSE where you spend money. Choose who you work for and supply support for. Choose Canadian business that have ties to Canada not another country, make sure the income from businesses and personal gains stay in Canada. Canadian $$$ needs to stay here, not support another Country. I know a gentleman that can't figure out why I laugh at him and don't support a thing he does. This is plain and simple. There are not enough places for rent. For both Canadians and a never ending population growth from outside canada that outpaces building. \nIn three months they cannot and will never be enough places built for rent to justify bringing over 430 000 people.\nSo based on that alone those newcomers will be taking a place for rent away from a Canadian citizen. It's not racism, it's not discrimination. It's fact.\nCanadian citizens or any citizen of any country should not have to struggle to find a place to live and be able to afford a place to live because the governemt increases the population from outside faster than they can build. There's nothing wrong with immigration as long as it's controlled, people enter legally and do what it takes to adapt to the host countries' values. I'm from India too; I fully support nationalism, irrespective of the country; it isn't racist, as the media likes to push that narrative. The sense of community is reducing because I think there's this wall between ethnic groups. Higher education is a provincial responsibility, however who issues the visa is the federal government. So the federal government needs take accountability when they are stamping visas to low level schools that are clearly exploiting international students
