The people complaining are the very ones speading it themselves. Most Asians have been in this country for a long time and can't afford trips home. It's the folks who refuse to follow any of the guidelines who are spreading the pandemic. IF THEY HAD FOLLOWED THEM, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER A LONG TIME AGO. So easy to blame others for the results of your own behavior. When are we going to focus on the spreaders???? Don't hate people because of their government. This whole “micro aggression” nonsense is what completely makes people not take racism seriously and as a real issue. I for one am not saying I’m one of those people but I’m just making an observation. Because along with real problems of people literally hating a certain group and thinking they’re above them just because their skin is a different color than them, we lump somebody touching your hair?? I hate when racism gets thrown around because people are insecure and think everything bad or unwarranted that happens to them from a white person is rooted in racism. It’s seems like “it’s racism cuz I decided it was”. Some people are just assholes, or weirdos, and need to be put in their place and labeling EVERYTHING as racism really causes a lot of people to not take things seriously when it IS present.

Um... (1) Living in Alberta, I pay overall less tax than someone in my tax bracket living in California. We don't all have high taxes. (2) Montréal is allo-lingual, and probably 80% able to speak English in its core. Quebec City is primarily French. (4) We have publically funded, not free, healthcare, and regulated pharmacare, private eye and dental care (5) you typically tip anyone who provides you a personal service - you should include valets, housekeeping, consierge services, porters and anyone who provides exceptional service. Get out of Vancouver, Canada is big.

This is the best journalistic approach I've seen on this matter so far. Yet it still lacks a deepening on the fact that racism and other kinds of discrimination are not exclusively practiced by white people. Had the same experiments been performed in places where other ethnic or cultural groups are the majority, the results most probably would evidence their biases in favor of their own pairs. This evidences that there is an inherent component in discriminatory behavior that goes well beyond of an evil mindset. It’s clear that in general people tend to better identify with those that look like themselves and fear those who don’t. This has been imprinted in our minds all along our species evolution. Could we change that? Yes. Should we change it? Definitely. But it’ll not work if these subtleties are not accounted for and we oversimplify the matter by just pointing fingers to a specific group as the villain.

By virtue of what they were asked to do they would look suspicious, spend 15 mins, walking aimlessly through the store, up and down at random stuff. Store security is trained to spot strange stuff happening and it’s highly probably that the action of go in, look normal, for 15 mins made them look suspicious.

The Best Buy thing was not a fair experiment, there is a reason experiments need to run multiple times with different variables.
