Regarding the profiling in the stores, I guess they are assessed mainly for their purchasing power; to check if they are real purchasers and that can happen in any country; where shop-owners are assessing their own neighbors buying power as potential customers to try to sell them anything!

Targeting because of skin colour is wrong of course.\n I am not offended when asked to open my bags before I leave a store. But being white, I don't experience racism so I guess my perspective is different. I could see that being a slipery slope though, when one has to prove everything in a bag was purchased elsewhere.\n I enter stores sometimes with two bike paniers full of gear for the changing weather. \nIf there was a safe place to secure bags at the entrance, I wouldn't be offended to leave it there.But stores wouldn't want that cause that cost money. I got a summons for working out, I passed by the same place multiple times to see if other people got summonses for working out at the same location. No one was handed a summons, I guess cops ran out of summonses during other days. Because it can’t be discriminatory.

At the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, I was followed through out my tour of the gallery by a female security guard who did not even hide the fact that she was monitoring me. She followed me throughout the 2 hours i was there. I felt really harassed. And guess what, she was a visible minority of South Asian origin.

Originally from the Philippines here and once a homeless man told me to go back where I came from. I'm actually surprised he said that, I’m just a passerby.\n\nIt hurts a bit but then I moved on.
