I am an Indian and every day I see ads from Canadian universities promising me work visas and top quality education. I also get calls from agents time to time saying my alma matter is more than enough to land me a job there and they just need a certain amount of money to send me to canada with work permit without any college enrollment.

Apart from excess immigrants arriving, Canada must not lose its culture and heritage. We MUST NOT give up our traditions just because we have more immigrants. Diversity has become our adversity. Immigration will not STOP ANYTIME SOON. Canada should have foreseen that the country would need more people 30-40 years ago and provided the resources to encourage Canadians to birth more children. Salaries are laughable, childcare is overwhelmingly expensive, food is expensive, rent is high. How do you expect Canadians to birth 4 -5 children when they are earning significantly less than their American counterparts. Immigrants will continue to troop into Canada where we like it or not.

Please learn the difference between refugees and immigrants. Canada needs immigrants to fuel its economy. Profofessionals come here in Canada ready to work and pay taxes while Canadians were educated for free (k to 12) and even availed student loans before even contributing to Canada's economy. Be specific with what immigration programs you are referring to. Some immigrants do not owe you anything for being immigrants in Canada. We came here fully equipped with education and skills, bringing our savings and ready to work and pay taxes.

This country has plummeted drastically this past decade. The immigration is absolutely ridiculous. Doesn't matter from where. This problem won't be solved until the Baby Boomer generation has passed away, but that will also cause issues too. We need to focus on our own before accepting others in. I hope things don't escalate like it is in the UK right now, but people are sick and tired of what's become of Canada.

The problem is that people don’t understand that Canada is a federation. There needs to be coordination between the federal government and the provinces. Canada lets people in, provinces provide the services. Canada doesn’t build housing, provinces and municipalities do. Canada doesn’t build schools. Canada doesn’t build hospitals. This is a federation and until people understand the country they live in, they will never solve all the challenges ahead. Just like Quebec, all provinces should negotiate with the federal government to provide immigration permits according to their needs. The more Ottawa centralises everything, the bigger the problem will become.

I have only been in Canada for seven months now, but I noticed a few things about its economy that led to this mess. I noticed that Canada has no globalized companies, meaning the government only makes a little money from doing business with other nations. Businesses here are lazier than their neighbor, the USA, or even in my country, Vietnam, which could be due to a lack of competitors. Cad also has the biggest forest reserve and largest oil deposit but is the lowest exporter. So I wonder how on Earth it stays in the top 10 wealthiest countries with such lazy activities. Up to this point, foreigners are the biggest income of Canada; this country is truly built on immigrants. To keep the country running, it must attract more foreigners. Without int' students, how much do citizens have to pay to keep schools running? If you view it differently, the government also sells the PR through SV Visa because, let's be honest, if millions of investors have invested, there should be something or at least one globalized company, but there are none. From $75k to $200k, foreigners can buy PR for every family member. It is considered affordable for Asian families compared to the USA or Australia. On top of that, another scam is a carbon tax, which means the government needs to learn how to make money rather than invent taxes and sell dreams to foreigners.

How much of this is because of foreign (Chinese) investments snapping up scores of apartments, just to park money? Apartments that will not be used for housing people. If you travel through Indian villages mainly in Punjab, Mumbai, Delhi and Southern states every KM you will see study/immigrate to Canada. They will tell you it is very easy as you need to spend only INR2.0Million( CAD 35K) to get there and balance you can work there as part time. Majority of Indians coming to Canada is from low income families who want to become middle class in India . High time Canada regulate its student intake and restrict only to selected universities and courses and stop allowing part time work. High skill immigration is still ok as they are coming based on their merit and point threshold and definitely contributing for Canadas economic growth. Student intake must be controlled .

I’m in Vancouver at the mo, been here for several months over the past year (from London, UK) … I don’t think this is much of a problem (check the size of the ‘crowd’ at the beginning) in reality, just blown up by the usual handful of RW windbags … it’s diverse and friendly here … sure they need to build more houses … just do it, this is Canada ffs, not the uk … population density in Canada overall is about 4 persons per sq km, in the UK it’s around 280 … and I don’t think that the UK is even full, in reality. Governments need to stop pandering to the landlord class (of which too many politicians are a part and profit from the status quo)

Canada’s quality of immigrants has gone down drastically over the years. That is the truth. While the US has upheld their standard, Canada seems to have slacked in that. That is the problem. As an Indian immigrant myself, I have tremendous sympathy for Canadians. \n\nThe so called diploma mills were always a danger but online classes during covid meant they could quadruple their attendance (and thus, their bottom line). The degrees offered by these colleges are worthless and that's why anyone who's moved to Canada in the last 4-5 years is finding it difficult to get meaningful employment.\n\nOn the other side, the Canadian dream really is sold as a cheaper and safer alternative to the American Dream. This is especially rampant in the state of Punjab where people from villages sell their ancestral property to move to Canada as students only to find the stalemate that is the job sector.\n\nThis in turn puts pressure on the economy, the housing market, and the welfare programmes. I think the immigration needs to halt for a while. A LOT of students are lacking in technical and linguistic skills to propel the Canadian economy and society forward and they'll need to not be given Permanent Residencies. PR should go to highly skilled immigrants who are integrating into the Canadian society instead of turning Brampton into mini India.

Thanks to immigrants Canada has survived this long. Immigrants bring in much needed dollars and skills that locals don’t have. Mass immigration has resulted in high housing prices, line ups in hospitals, inferior services in all sectors etc.. Not a good sign for future and present Canadians. Honestly as an Immigrant I was definitely lied to by the country of Canada, and tbh this concern is lined with racism to an extent, but there are some valid concern for the most part. \n\nCanadian universities came to me high school, one of the academically successful high schools on my island and tried to take every single high performing student. I thought of moving to Canada too, but it felt really impractical. Canada is expensive, even to locals. This is what you get when you prioritize corporations over people, making the rich richer, and poor poorer. High rise condominiums bought by tax-evaders, and money launderers from all over the world, instead of livable communities. Happens almost everywhere in the world. I think everyone needs to live simpler, live in the province, or work from home, the cities are really getting unlivable nowadays, full of greedy corporations constantly fed by their cousins in the ranks.

If Canadians think new govt will solve the problem. They are dead wrong. This is the vicious cycle they can not get out. Their own structure can not support pensions and salaries. They need to bring in new immigrants otherwise the system cycle will collapse. As far as housing is concern. Does Canada have shortage of land ? Its due to policies that new housing is not coming up thus driving prices through the roof. No govt will gonna change that because corporate interests are involved and not house owners wanted their prices to go down. Which happened to be biggest voting block. Thus ordinary young Canadians are feeling the music and they see new students as the enemy. In fact it is the students who go through horrible exploitation ordinary Canadians cannot imagine. I agree with this feeling shared all over. No, for now Canada don’t need a lot of people. The country need to fix this housing problem and fix its immigration policy. It’s insane to see people paying for 900$ for shared bedroom, this is crazy. Fix it first then later you’ll scale up the immigration process again.

If you have a Canadian passport you’re Canadian that’s it.\n\nThe issue lies in continuing to bring in large amount of people with no skills the country needs. I'm 27 and I have 35k saved. I've made so much money over the years that has been spent on rent, paying back student debt, braces, food, taxes, my business expenses, and life in general. I'm hoping my business will continue to grow to the point where I don't need to be worried about retiring... but honestly, Canada is making it really hard. Family immigrated there in 85. Back then my parents needed to prove and bring certain assets as part of the requirements. \n\nNow it seems they don’t really care, just come in with nothing, and the first thing to figure out is how to get the gov to pay out to sustain.\n\nHow this change came about… got no idea. \n\nAnd when looking at it culturally, that has changed as well. Being Chinese, we brought along our traditions. Those were celebrated and introduced to other Canadians, and it was a joyous thing. That being said, Canadian culture should come first and foremost. That should be understood. You are living underneath someone else’s roof, you should learn their culture and accept it. If not, why are you there.\n\nNowadays, it feels like it is a right to alter, and place your original culture above that of Canada’s. That’s just weird. All the activity and jobs are concentrated within 3-4 cities in Canada. Majority of these immigrants end up in these cities and with the population exploding the infrastructure/facilities are not able to accommodate this sudden exponential growth... Government needs to develop and improve the Tier2 cities so people spread out...
