So Canadian citizens can’t afford to live anymore yet we continue to allow refugees in to the country? Who is the priority? I always thought government was to take care of its own people first. Times have changed

Unfortunately I was born there and wasted 23 years of my life there...but I made up for it spending the last 24 in Japan. God works in mysterious ways. :D It's just fucked up that I own 13 homes in Japan and even if I sold ALL of them, I could probably barely afford a DUMP in Vancouver...or maybe just an old condo. But yet somehow propaganda says how expensive Japan is..and how great Canada is. Fuck that shit. The West's propaganda is just messed. Thank God I broke free from that. I can barely handle a 2 week vacation when I go back to visit family. :(

Our government is in the immigration business. They know computers and robots are replacing workers but robots don't pay taxes (yet). They need to grow the population to keep the GDP up. Women entered the job market which raised the economy but lowered the quality of life and the number of babies born. No one is winning The only reason to come here is to make a better life for your kids and that's a maybe.

I have lived in many different countries as a Muslim. I have found the perfect balance of Islam, freedom in my day to day life to do things, finding halal, masjids 10-15mins within where I live with programs for my kids and social/educational events. I homeschool my kids and the laws for it are very easy. I absolutely abhor the government though and your no. 1 reason would be mine to leave. However as I explore other options I don’t see options for Muslim country that is easy to naturalize into. \n\nI have joined groups to make future changes through congress and government and trying to learn how I can help with these efforts. I try to imagine what would happen if all the Muslims left these colonizing countries. Boy do they need us yet make us feel like we are powerless. I try to imagine well what if we unified more and kept working for change? While being able to live and practice e Islam how we want. Anyways. Just mumbling some of my own thoughts. Good answer. Remove the weight. When I worked in Saudi it always amused me that if you bought a globe or a map anywhere in the country, “Israel” simply didn’t show up on them. Only Palestine. Yet I never heard a harsh word directed at Israel or Israelis. Simply a refusal to accept the existence of a country that exists by apartheid and now genocide. (And of course Saudi has no business judging anyone on human rights (ahem… it’s true) but they are at least slowly improving some things.) He didn’t address even the existence of Israel. Simply pointed out the truth, which is that it’s Palestinian land, and “the weight” (Israel) of oppression simply needs to be removed from where it’s digging in it’s heels. Israel needs to take their boot off the necks of their victims and learn to get along WITHOUT open air prisons they insist aren’t ghettos.

I was born in Canada, yet even I am tempted to leave it. Trudeau's both Jr & Sr have certainly ruined it (and probably forever). I would also like to add that I wish you and your family all the best, but it's too bad things have deteriorated as they have for all of us, whatever religious or political beliefs to the point that we just don't like it here anymore. When I moved from Canada, back in 2002, I couldn't believe how Canada was talked about. People spoke as if Canada was some dreamy, perfect world. It didn't resemble the truth in any way, even then. People of other nationalities believed such outlandish things about Canada. I realized, suddenly, that very little truth was reported about the country. For me, once I reached adulthood (1990s), I knew I wasn't living in the country I had thought Canada was. Even then, it just seemed that whichever province I moved to, people were just barely getting by, yet were strangely content or complacent in life. It was generational, social conditioning. Many can't see beyond it.

if not for covid I would likely have left myself by now. Trudeau has made living here unbearable, I never seen a PM hate his own people as much as this clown. I'm born Canadian and at least from my mom's side at least 5 generation. Dad was immigrant from Barbados. Somehow Trudeau has been able to triple our debt owed yet everything has gotten worse in this country. I am saddend by the number of people who have chosen to leave Canada, although I realize that this is a good decision for you and many others. This country has changed, and not for the better. Greed has taken over with grocery conglomerates eliminating competition and raising prices for record profits. Buying a house now requires a lottery win, not just a mortgage. It seems that we are working to pay taxes and the banks and the insurance companies. And I have yet to hear anything meaninfull about this situation from the government on these issues. Or that our parents were able to afford university with zero debt afterwards now you leave with $100k+ in debt and the classrooms are 80% foreigner. If you can get a good job outside of Toronto or Vancouver it is one of the best places on earth. Unfortunately most of the economic activity is in these places so all of the population is funneled there which creates extreme competition for jobs and housing. Our salaries are lower than the USA yet housing is higher in these two places.

If you immigrate to Canada, you might wanna start picking a area or city that isn’t the most expensive ones in the nation, what would you expect, many of us fellow Canadians would never even dream of moving to Toronto in the first place.
