This story is very true. I came to Canada when i was 10. Was raised in Canada and life was great. All that changed in the last 10 years. Everything is sooo expensive you have to cut back on leisure activities that you need to keep your mind healthy after a long work week. All i did was work long hours for the necessities for me and my family. After a long conversation about a year ago with my wife, we decided to move back to Portugal (I have dual citizenship). We moved this past summer and couldnt be happier. Life here is much more laid back and you are not charged to do the simple leisure activities like going to a provincial park. Food is cheaper, housing is cheaper, insurance is cheaper and weather is 100x better. No more having to hibernate at home in the winters. Only thing i found more expensive here was electronics and fuel. Something needs to change in Canada.

Great video and very helpful indeed for new comers, but my personal experience is, you can do much better in Canada if you burn the boats, you can not give it your 100 % specially when you keep thinking that you can always go back to where you come from. Most of us are not used to live independent hard working life and that’s a bottle neck and culture shock for most immigrants.

Canada is cold and miserable most of the year as you need to stay indoors, Travelling to work when it’s dark in the morning and coming home when it’s dark, how can that be enjoyable. People who enjoy living in very dry warm climates should live there. Housing would be much cheaper in most Muslim countries and no need to have the heater on 24/7 just to stay warm . The sports is so different, Grid Iron in summer and Hockey in winter. Soccer is much easier and to play Cricket all you need is a bat, stumps and a ball and off you go all day.?

As a former international student (now citizen) I find it crazy that these diploma mills exist, I never understood how intl students can be so poor when I had to pay around $150k for my high school + university education. \n\nI'm shocked that the doors are so open that literally anybody can come in, that's not how it's supposed to work, going abroad to study is a privilege, Canada SHOULD be more selective about who comes through. \n\nAnd don't come at me about pulling the ladder up from behind me bullshit, I don't have a problem with intl students that go through the proper channels, but an intl student shouldn't have to work to survive, I worked because I needed experience on my resume ?. Yes, it's a privilege, AS IT SHOULD BE.

I am 70yo and catholic. I was privrleged to work in kuwait for a few years and hate having to come back. Crime, politics are all so heightrned now that being in the US is not safe for anyone. You will welcome and enjoy the change. I wish I was going as well. All my best. Take care and God bless.

I work at a manufacturing plant and we resentky laid off a bunch of elderly hard working Canadians and replaced them with Indian students working through agencies. They are not actually in schooll and work far more than the alotted hours. When reported the company simply pays a small fine and keeps going.

Many international students, mostly from India, don't come here to study, they come here to work and they have no intention of going back to India.

I was born here in canada but my mom immigrated. Took her 20 years almost to get full citizenship . \nThe cap is needed . These past 5 years has been honestly out of control . \nI've personally worked jobs where international students knew exactly how to work the system . \nEven working directly with employers to bank hours so that they can go full-time during summer yet still get paid for the whole year as part time so the government doesn't see that they pass there maximum hours worked . \nThe access to credit aswell is super scary .

as an international student myself, I do believe canada NEEDS to work on in this situation, International students pay 5x the tuition and get exploited by these agents they have back home. Simply put, shut down colleges for international students and if you want to study get into a university and ACTUALLY study something rather than going to some diploma mills.

International students ARE NOT driving up home prices or rent...that's a supply/demand issue (plus the lack of control government has on landlords and how much they can charge for a specific unit) and it's also a foreign buyer issue (yes Chinese foreign buyers, who buy homes in Canada but never move-in and use it as the home as a savings account). Not the international students problem, when the government of Canada DEMANDS THESE STUDENTS NOT WORK FOR MORE THAN 20 HOURS A WEEK and then watches them struggle to pay for rent (and therefore have to live 2 or 3 to a room)...yeah, don't blame the students. BLAME THE GOVERNMENT for bringing these students here, handicapping them by limiting their work hours (minimum wage at that) and then turning around and blaming them for why homes are ridiculously expensive and rent is unaffordable. Yeah, don't blame the government for it's inability to build homes...don't blame the government, instead, blame the minimum wage international student...it's going to be interesting if this actually brings DOWN rent prices and home costs. I personally know students who have been here in Canada for 3 weeks and they are already working 2 jobs and also going to the food bank for free food.

Post secondary institutions love foreign students. They charge waaaaay more and make that much more.\nThe response against more foreign students by liberal media is the threat that your tuition will go up with limits on foreign students.\nWhat about spaces? For every foreign student there's one less space for Canadian students.\nHousing is the biggest issue today.\nPrevious to Trudeau, the issue was the cost of detached homes in big cities going up but today it's insane rental costs across the board that no one can afford.\nI have been dumb founded as to why after decades of predictable increases and stock suddenly, year after year, cost went up dramatically as stock dwindled.\nI see the same places available, no one's tearing down masses of cheap 70s built rentals so what happened?\nThen I saw the immigration numbers. Canadians aren't having kids so who is taking all this housing? It has to be immigration.\nClearly, it's time to turn the taps down and allow housing stock to catch up.\nThe ripple effect is that no one can work an entry level job in the city. Is 900,000 the number for International Students only, or it includes those who go with them? E.g. Many come with a husband or wife which is granted an Open Work Permit, and many come with kids too. If 900,000 is for IS only, then multiply that by 2 or 3 to include those that go with them. So 2 to 3 Million? Come on, we gotta be kidding.

I think part of the issue is the type of immigration. We only go for high skilled immigrants who study medicine, law, engineering, etc. It should be expanded to allow more labourers to come and work here to get that housing built.

The govt knows that 95% of the international students are here for the PR and no shame on that… but the govt have to keep up with housing and other requirements that students going to need… you let students comes to Canada and they only can work for 30 hours week minimum wage. No one can survive with that… I don’t blame the kids I only blame this govt.

Most people are not saying no to immigration. We do need some level of immigration. \n\nHowever, we need to slow way down to catch up and make up for the massive immigration of the past 6 to 8 years. Bringing more and more people, when we don't have the infrastructure or the economy to support them, is doing no one a favor (except big companies and landlords). Immigrants come here with the promise of a better life but end up stuck paying 2700$ per month for a closet in Toronto, working three jobs and 55 hours a week where they make 3400$ a month. The housing situation is the worst it has ever been. Rates are high, average cost of house in Canada is now above 750k CAD while the average salary is around 54k. Those are not sustainable figures. We cannot keep accepting 500k people a year, with hundreds of thousands of international students on top of it. \n\nI'm sorry if it ruffles the feathers of some liberal thinkers, CEOs, big slumlords and university boards but this is not a sustainable model. We've been going down in standards of living, despite paying heavy taxes. Something needs to change.

There are many international students who are not going to school or studying. They are taking advantage of loop holes in the Foreign Students Act that lets them take on jobs and work towards getting permanent residence. Some are using the educational system, but not all. They are taking advantage of our legislation to jump the que in obtaining permanent residence in Canada.

I agree with what was stated in this.\n\nI would be interested in hearing how Canadian students compare to international students grade wise.\n\n There's a disturbing trend of expectations on Canadian standards being lowered and lowered, teachers being unable to fail students, and covid made it so much worse. Reading levels for middle school have been adjusted to be that of fifth grade or lower.\n\n There are so many students GRADUATING from high school who can't read at a sixth grade level. They haven't seen the inside of a classroom except to socialize with friends. \n\n Why would universities want these students? So their failure or drop out rate can go through the roof? So they can show employment after graduation being low as these students have little to no motivation to work?

Listened to your vlog and I want to suggest few things as an immigrant myself... I am not sure of your detials but seems like your husband came back after 2 months leaving you there with family.. I have rarely seen any family settling abroad unless they have seriously burnt all there bridges back home.. if you start with a mindset that let's go and see and if doesn't work out we will come back 90% odds are you will go back.. firstly come with absolutely clear mind that no matter what happens you are not going back.. and you will make it here no matter what. The journey will become much easier and one directional.. Secondly you do not have to rely on any family abroad to move.. this is an other mistake people make.. they think they will have support but this support is actually a limiting option ... it doesn't let you get on feet quicker. Nobody can support you for long abroad and sooner than later you have to get on your feet. once you over stay your welcome you can start getting some unwelcoming vibes and then you get depressed thinking there is no one genuinely yours in this country.. you waste your initial time relying on your family.. better start without them in the first place and get going from day one.. and lastly 2 3 months is nothing to settle any where let alone in Canada.. you have to be patient, persistent and focused and after 2 years and after seeing all the calendar and religious seasons twice, you finally start to think of new place as your home.. its hard but in the end it's truly worth it and then you can never go back to India or Pakistan

Some of them come , right after grade 12 only one thing in their mind to get immigration! Most of them come to get same degree management or hospitality managing hotels ! These degrees don’t get them anywhere ! They all want live Vancouver Toronto no one wants to go to Manitoba Saskatchewan and up North ! People open up private colleges,have little room to teach them on line classes ! Money grab ! No one give them right information before they leave their country! We got not many skill student only business digress! Student from Indian love to get their PAR ! It cost them too much money to get here, but then they have to work hard to pay for their fees , or they have to buy work permit , it cost 35 to 50 thouesd to buy work permit as long as they work for same people for two year, not making that much money ! Life becomes hard !

many new immigrants who rushed in thinking canada was some honeypot are now leaving for good which is the most compelling reason why canada is not a destination to immigrate! unlike US there are no mechanisms in place for new immigrants to succeed with higher costs, unaffordable housing and taxes jobs are difficult to find and on top it to adjust as new migrants it’s very difficult so yes the canadian dream is very much over for most immigrants, international students can go anywhere for education it’s not a canadian specialty as such but most students came to canada because it allows them to do work after graduation but other countries are also catching up with attractive schemes to attract these students so it does look like lesser students are expected in canada from now on…
