Capitalist greed is making life tough for everyone. Immigration is not to problem. If you think new comers to Canada are the cause of your economic woes then the billionaire class has won yet again.

Perhaps if we werent all complacent in causing instability everywhere, we wouldn't have to deal with influx of people fleeing their homes. The amount of immigrants flowing in is too much to handle for most countries. Especially when you have an already strained housing availability. All resources are strained. And the migrants don't get a fair chance at assimilation. It is a lose lose situation.

Maybe people should start looking at the military industrial complex Eisenhower mentioned at the end of his presidency. Causing wars all over the world and then everyone wants to come to the west. Maybe stop wars in other countries so they can develop. Also have countries invest in their own education systems so they don’t have to come to the west and change the concept that western countries is where you can make it. Also, those who do come have to integrate, however, if you come from a country where there isn’t plurality and coming to a democratic society, you’re eventually going to have problems.

The idea that government is going to fix this (or anything really) is copium of the strongest kind. \nGovernment _caused_ this.

How can people afford 3k+ a month rent when most unskilled jobs barely pay 2k. Wages can't rise to cost of living levels if Walmart and every fast food joint can have all their staffing needs met by exclusively hiring international students and TFW's

As an Australian watching this putting the cause of housing affordability and homelessness on immigration is BS. Our country has a major housing crisis and homelessness situation and lack in housing and governments not investing in development is key. If there is further truth to Diana McNally saying the housing development sector in Canada is privatised, that's where one of your issues lies.\n\nMy bottom line: if you think immigration is the cause of lack in housing affordability, go try living in the country those immigrants came from. Canada needs people for low end/tough jobs, but also high end jobs. The problem is importing a bunch of people into a broken system is not going to do anything but cause problems for the most part. Canada should have invested in the people already here, change the laws and policies, get rid of the red tape and have common sense legislation.

How do you call it scapegoating immigration for the housing shortage? Is it the biggest issue? Yes. You can't increase the population by 8 million people in a decade and not expect it to stretch not only housing but Healthcare as well. It doesn't make you a racist to be upset about that. Sure the infrastructure needed to be increased but that has to be paid for in advance of immigrants coming and with so many people on the poverty line who should pay for that? You make it seem like it's our duty to take in and provide all the services necessary, it's not. If the immigration wasn't so out of control the systems would be able to keep pace and people wouldn't be so upset. The problem is the type of people the government is bringing in. I'm an immigrant myself, living here for 20 years, and I remember the ton of paperwork I had to submit to prove I'm worth contributing to Canada's growth and economy. Today the government is only interested in bringing in criminals, refugees, low quality - low wage workers who won't contribute a dime to Canada's economy but become a burden on taxpayers. This mindless immigration has now caused exponential increase in crime, and poor productivity in Canada's economy. Canada under JT is not the Canada I came for, and the Canada I knew when I first landed here.

He's right about the tap water. My mom lives in Jackson, Mississippi and when I was living down there we were getting boil advisories every other day. No standards in terms of who we bring into the country, it's mostly people who are here to exploit the system or don't contribute in any way. It's just the government doing this unchecked and banks and others lobbying for it because it's just untapped source of victims they can exploit as well. Then there just isn't enough housing available, that's no secret. So for people like this Daniel Bernhard guy to say it isn't the massive influx of people causing any issues is incredibly disingenuous. \nIf you increase immigration, be more selective and not all from the same country. There needs to be more control over the entire immigration system so it doesn't spiral out of control and now everyone is suffering, not just those coming to this country.

Too much immigration causes inflation of all goods. Food/housing etc. Simple math.

The bottom line is, Canada _is_ an immigrant country: we will keep accepting immigrants and international students and refugees and asylum seekers in the years to come, that’s just what Canada is about, but I do believe the government needs to manage the flow in a _smarter_ way - policies and regulations that both fulfill Canada’s labor needs, but also obviously do NOT cause the rest of the population to struggle to literally just survive.

Teenagers can’t even get a fast food job anymore cause there are whole families of immigrants taking over everything. Not one subway, Burger King or McDonald’s has any youth anymore here, in Sudbury ON anyway. It’s pretty ridiculous.

They mention it in passing but fail to really hit the nail on the head in this video... The biggest issue is the lack of funding going into infrastructure and public housing. With limited resources causing rising costs, you either need to limit the number of people competing for resources or build more resources. We need immigrants in this country, especially with this huge aging population. This means we have to reinvest in public programs in a real way. The costs up front seem huge but the payoff is immeasurable, everyone's quality of life will go up.

Banks benefit by having more deposits from newcomers. Corporations benefit cause people from over seas will Work for less. Government benefits cause every newcomer needs to pay 1000s of dollars for different fees like drivers licence and health cards you name it. Schools benefit by the fact they can take an entire Indian families life savings in a single tuition payment. \n\nto claim that this insane immigration we have here is to the benefit of the average Canadian is psychotic and cynical.

Canadas natural immigration rate is about 350k/yr. At the same time we were facing a housing crisis caused mainly (at the time) by oppressive and inefficient regulatory systems. That was before Trudeau, without explanation, increased immigration to 1.5 Million per year. Canada used to immigrate primary families with a 50:50 male female ratio. Now we primarily import single military aged males resulting in the current near-70:30 male female ratio. This is a massive concern.

Canada was not anti immigration when the people coming were needed, they wanted to contribute, and they understood and assimilated into Canadian culture. Now they come, contributing nothing, straining our health care system, causing a housing crisis, and most importantly, bringing their culture and beliefs, displacing ours. Our veterans that fought for Canada and what being Canadian meant fought for nothing as too many of this current generation has no patriotism and cares nothing about Canadian culture. Thus, we lost our country without a fight.

Talk about the 'Elephant in the room.' Canadian government ought to invest in the infrastructures but that is never seen in practice for uncertain reasons. The government is one of the wealthiest in the globe. Proof is the recent military aid money given to the Ukrainian cause which could have been diverted to investing in commodities to afford the influx of immigrants. So, stop the cap and go to the root cause that has brought this imbalance in the system.?

I support immigration but there are issues and we need to be able to discuss it without assumptions or name calling. \n\nYes, housing, rentals, and houselessness are all issues as are lack of doctors. That said, we never discuss the million little things. There's more litter. It takes longer to order fast food. Our winters are lonelier as people hibernate. 4am phone calls home disrupt sleep and cause stress and tension. General language barriers. Cultural barriers, I personally love referencing movies. The prejudice migrants bring. Is our National IQ increasing or decreasing. These are legit issues and questions, I could name 1000 more.

Too many immigrants into a country can cause problems for the native born population. Immigrants can put a strain on the resources and reduce the quality of life that citizens were accustomed to.

Immigration has become infestation in both the US and Canada. Our ?? Prime Minister is instrumental in causing the problem on our side of the border. I apologize to all my American family and friends. Since Justin Castro took office in 2015 we’ve gone from 36 million to 41 million in population.
