Canada is not against legal immigration! It's a lie.Agains't all the criminals, those who come with all their demandings for housing, food,medicine, monthly financial support and they don't want to assimilate.

Because mass migration is a negative for the country and its culture. Public services quality goes down, security decreases, housing gets more expensive for the locals. Btw the same can be said about mass tourism, don't know if Canada also suffers from that. Me being Portuguese and having family also in Spain, both countries are suffering from both problems. Some migration and tourism may be a positive factor, but not massive and uncontrolled ones.\nIt wasn't a choice by citizens of any country, but by the transnational elite and its bureaucrats. That the Guardian and all the media promotes.\nAlso lets not forget that covid policies are responsible in no small part for a big bump in these problems. First with inflation, and then with the accelerated increase by Central Banks on interest rates, creating devaluations and economic problems in developing countries.

I’m immigrant from Iraq. Came in 2009 and I can say Canada has immigration problem. There’s no way you are getting these students back to India. When I came to Canada I came because I wanted to make it my second home. A country that I’m willing to actually fight for. These guys are here just to make money and send it back to India. They don’t like Canada they don’t like Canadians they don’t care about the country and the land. They are here to milk Canada and it’s effecting Canadians. When a store whole operation is run by Indians do you think a Canadian will get hired?

The final scene at the new Canadians rally is nice to see. But what you’re not seeing are the THOUSANDS of people who aren’t success stories. People who bring nothing to the party but still need a place to live. I’m fine with immigration, I think Canada is a better place for being diverse. But you can’t just keep the tap on when the glass is already full. We need to turn off the immigration spigot for a while, catch up to get our services and housing to a level that is workable, then look at turning it back on with a smarter outlook on the numbers to bring in.

While I can't speak for Canada, I will say that in the U.S. the issue with immigration has been the insistence from immigrants that we accept their culture while ours is ignored.

As an immigrant who grew up here, I am always judged because I say Canada should limit the number of immigrants coming in the country not because I am egoistic or what but because I think that Canada is selling a dream to people who sell their houses and everything to come to a place where the system has lost its structure. ? Zero-net population growth or very slow growth is desirable for a host of reasons. Immigration is not inherently a virtue. Not inherently a vice either. Here are some reasons why Canada should reduce immigration to achieve eventual zero-net population growth.\n\n(1) The ecology: Canada is possibly the world's worst country per capita in producing waste – certainly among the worst. Immigrants to Canada want to live like Canadians, as Canadians. The problem here is not that they will not assimilate to Canadian ways, but that they will. \n\n(2) Housing: with 500,000 new immigrants a year, housing starts cannot keep pace. The result: ever-inflating housing costs. Rich immigrants compound the problem. \n\n(3) Suburbanization: most of the new housing in Canada is in highway suburbs (over 80%), with their car-driven way of life. Once again, this is bad for the country’s ecological health. In addition, the result will be ever-growing geographies of nowhere. We will not be creating more Victorias or Quebec Cities. We will be creating more Surreys. \n\n(4) Downward pressure on the incomes of most people: the law of supply and demand is very simple: when there is a surplus of any commodity, that commodity becomes cheaper. When a commodity is scarce, its value rises. Labor is a commodity. Workers rightly do not want there to be a surplus of labor. Their livelihoods are threatened. \n\n(5) Future care of the old: the more people we add now, the more people we will have to take care of later, when their working lives are done. Adding immigrants now to pay for the care of the old is therefore a pyramid scheme. Eventually, in a generation or two, the population of the world is set to decline, and the well of immigrants will run dry. Canada should aim for fewer, rather than more, retirees – as preparation for that coming moment.

Canada has a massive immigration problem right now. There is a student visa loop hole thats just been fixed where people would get a student visa at some 3rd party “institution” then bring their entire family along with them on open work permits.

This is SUCH a puff piece completely one sided that dismisses legitimate concerns as the only reason being xenophobic......Canada has always welcomed people but it was done at a lot slower pace where people had a chance to assimilate and build a life. You can't add over a million people a year with different cultures and pretend it's going to be ok. Ignoring the massive housing crisis, it's a culture crisis. A lot of the people coming do not share Canadian values, period. Canadians are noticing a massive change in the country they love seemingly overnight. You go out in any city and you barely see white people anymore. It's jarring. It was made into an amazing country by certain people and now it seems new immigrants are treated better than citizens. Everyone is in favor of immigration done the right way, but that isn't what's happening and natural born Canadians have every right to be upset that the country is being ruined in a way they don't want.

If you travel through Indian villages mainly in Punjab, Mumbai, Delhi and Southern states every KM you will see study/immigrate to Canada. They will tell you it is very easy as you need to spend only INR2.0Million( CAD 35K) to get there and balance you can work there as part time. Majority of Indians coming to Canada is from low income families who want to become middle class in India . High time Canada regulate its student intake and restrict only to selected universities and courses and stop allowing part time work. High skill immigration is still ok as they are coming based on their merit and point threshold and definitely contributing for Canadas economic growth. Student intake must be controlled .

There are very few normal people except the dredges of society who migrate to western countries and maybe a few super super rich. The west made it so hard to jump through all the hoops that normal middle class would not want to put in the effort to degrade themselves and go west. The result is Canada and most of the west get the worst type of migrants and yet the west makes it even harder paradoxically and ends up with even more boat people!

My understanding is that people are being played upon again, in-fact the real threat is de-dollorization, about which nobody talks much. As noticed recently through the news, manufacturing is returning back to West from China which obviously will demand skilled labour. Dollar loosing it's value (due to de-dollarization) and once immigrants starts leaving Canada, this will add on to the trouble exponentially, leaving Canada unattractive....When I say, skilled labour, then I mean the real working guys, not the cozy European immigrants. These are my understandings...Lets see how it goes, I am eager to see.
