This is heart breaking. Even though people are pointing out and focusing on religion, they need to understand the history of these symbols too. How cruel were those times and what kirpan symbolises.

This is the issue with religion.\nYou pass it on as belief and shit at the expense of others safety

We are in different world right now old religion doesn't fit in thos world. If you want to practice your religion, that's fine but do it within your community and leave others who don't believe in this.

I don't see an issue here as long as I can carry an ar15 as part of my religion ? but seriously at least he was calm and respectful... Sihks are the warriors yet every one I've ever met were the nicest most centered people you can imagine! I hope this is settled peacefully and responsibly, aka I hope the school doesn't kick him out or over exaggerate the punishment

Well... This one isn't as black and white. Religion needs to be left on the doorsteps of an institution, especially one that's meant for a vast and varied audience.

You cannot display and carry the weapon around like that. I understand it’s got a religious significance, but this keeps other people on the edge. Practice your religion freely until it doesn’t affect/interfere others.

He must be on a big city, a non texas or Florida city \n Somewhere they dont care about religion or rights

It is not Knife. It is religion simbol. Sikh wears it.

Show me one video or story of a Sikh being violent at a school/university/educational place!? It doesn’t exist! The religion is based on protecting the unprotected and they don’t weaponize there sacred religion. Educate yourself!

Well this was wrong. Religion n other stuffs keep it within ur limits where it is present not on an outside nation when things are actually against u at current ?\nRespect their way of living too, u can't justify by them carrying guns to ur religious thing.
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
Religion or not the guy brought a knife to a school. What did you think was going to happen? I get wanting to display something on you of your religion but you could have thought of something better then a decorative knife.

Blond gal: said why u carry a knife\nSarder ji it is our religion symbol\nBlond gal: offcourse u r not gonna use that that knife for cutting vegetables, it is fucking thread to everyone around u, who knows what sardar jee will do if get angry

These people are very stubborn. They cannot leave their religion and stupid practices back home. Why do they want to change north American way of life. Keep your extra baggage in your own house.
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
I think there are issues on both sides. The cop's mistake is obvious. That kid probably could have still be complying with his religion by either wearing it inside or use a knife with 2-4 inch blade (which a lot of other Sikhs do).
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
I wouldn’t feel safe if my classmates be carrying weapons like that if. If it’s religion. Imma switch my religious affiliation just to carry those around sheeesshh

USA is the Dumbest place on Earth. Why the hell they don’t know how to respect someone’s religion. He was not using that knife and first of all thats not a knife thats a Kripan which means something that’s only be used against bad things and to protect weaker not to threaten innocents.

Nation and national rules are above religion ....tumhare baap ka ghr nhi school hai vo bhi America ka
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
Just curious. Would it be alright to carry a kirpan in airplane will that be allowed? Respect your religion but also respect other religion, culture and other people concern for their safety
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
What if tomorrow Muslims carry AK47 with self in name of religion.? National security and safety should be above all...

The officer didn't know, he took action based on his assumption.\nthe college apologized for the incident\n\nNo assault, the student followed instruction, and was safe throughout. \n\nSomeone made a mistake and then fixed it.\n\n\nBut the comment are filled with opinions from biases to India pak to religion and what not\n\n\nfor onces, see the main facts and don't telecast it as a WWIII

This is wrong ,even thousands will support him for his culture ,but this isn't right .university and education institutions shouldn't be bound with any religion and faith.and even any sharp objects are obviously should not be allowed .

sikh students don't wear these in india...sikhs in us or west cannot get away with this....keep ur religion at home.
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
Sikhs can carry knives in india, its legal for them here, but not every country allows u to do that.. we must respect rules of every country. Religions come 2nd, 1st will always be the law of land.
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
Religion should not be prioritized, he should keep his kirpan at home and go to college,or go back to khalistan, dirty c unts
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
I mean.. it’s still a knife. What if my religion’s symbol was uranium 235? Would I be allowed to wear it around in university campus?
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
I get it its part of religion but its a school you are going into.. knives are simply not allowed. Regardless of religion you must follow the laws of the land.

Who the fuck brings knife into university. \nI'm also indian. Keep religion outside of educational hub's everyone is equal in university.
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
i wouldnt be comfortable around someone carrying a knife. Religion makes people stupid..if its your tradition practice it in your home..

I think we Indians must release educational videos about the Sikh religion!
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
i respect that police officer too...who did wat a police officer should do for safety of people....he is a sikh and he is in another country where not everyone know about the religion , culture and things that other religious people carry with them...so he did his duty....and thn after knowing everything about the kirpan they apologies...thats how a country should do and respect other culture and religion

I think we should separate education and religion (School or college have their own rules which we should follow )\nNow the dilemma is that what should we consider superior religion or education or humanity ?\nAnd if I choose humanity will others behave with me same attitude.
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
I understand it's ur religion but ur religion should not threaten others too.
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
We also have to see things from their perspective.... these things r alien to them...it will take time for them to understand Indian religions....\nHe stayed cool that's nice
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
Keep your religion in your area of worship not in where you go for studies and others are around
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
Religion isn't more important than people's lives. There's no use of a KNIFE in a COLLEGE CAMPUS.
| 2022-10-02 | 1 |
I am an Indian.. but certain things need to be followed on university campuses.. religion is supposed to be practiced in their private spaces and esp not at educational places..

Religion is Cancer. Whichever it is.
| 2022-10-02 | 0 |
That's the right thing to do, whatever religion you belong to you cannot wear a weapon.
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
im jutizican religion and it is customary for us to carry rpgs...
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
There is 2 types of Sikh..... one that are baptized and live that life and then that knife would actually be part of his religion and there is a few extra things..... and then there is Sikh that are not living that life and are more peaceful and would not have a knife like that unless they ( wanted to for fun) ....... if he lives his life as the type that always has that as a Sikh this was a violation of his wright to religion and is a serious lawsuit and also wrongful detaining .....

I think police was right, he would have killed something, that's the terrorist attack type of something, prevention is better than cure, u can now a day do anything in name of custom of religion, like it is the custom.
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
If others are not allowed to carry weapons in public then you also have no right to carry a weapon in public in the name of religion or tradition. Simple ✌️
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
So other students and parents should not object because he is practising his religion ..what if he gets pissed off..
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
If my Sikh brother had requested that policeman to not put handcuffs on him because he is a student and he will walk with him politely or the policeman had done his work more sincerely by understanding & listening to that kid what he was trying to say about his religion, this whole scenes will be different and could be resolved then 'n there.\nBut what's done is done can't undo it.

Carrying a live dagger in a country where thousands of kids lose there life due to mass shootings in the name of religion is utter nonsense n wrong.
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
The person who reported should be educated well about religions
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
Sikhs have a long history of militancy and violence. So what police did was right thing.\nKeep your religion when you are in India.
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
Maybe he has religious intentions but we need to understand its not India, its USA and they have their own laws + there are many many incidents where school shooting happens or people get killed by things so people are scared of anything that they think can harm them. I am not saying calling police on someone is right just bcz they are following religion but we need to know where to follow your religion. Applies for india too, we can't take kirpan in colleges in india, can we?
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
I mean. Then we’re gonna have a new random ass religion that believes in beheading chickens (which already exists = Santeria) and y’all gonna be cool about that? Y’all gotta use some common sense lol.
| 2022-10-01 | 0 |
You mean I could start a religion and then make it a law to carry knives and it would be considered legal?
