Housing affordability sucks, gender education sucks, and mostly our health care system sucks. Man I love Canada, don't get me wrong. But people are ruining it.

You can't run a country where the cost of living is so high the an ordinary person cannot afford to live there.

I disagree with the cost of living part. Toronto and Ontario are not Canada . Most Canadian cities are affordable .

I wouldn't say my friends, but friend of friends also left Canada recently. Even earning 130k per year still left them a bit uncertain, having 2 kids, in the end of the month not so much is left, and when they looking on house prices they understand that they could afford one not even in foreseeable future

As Canadian born raised here we've tremdious growth over the decades specially inside areas outside the GTA. One the biggest issues facing everyone here besides immigrants is taxes / inflation. Our government only looks at those coming from India as cash cow to keep things rolling economically more people more taxes are paid. Canada needs to start being more economic minded by reducing all taxes abroad to make cost of living more affordable.

Canada is very expensive and its hard to find affordable housing, healthcare is slow, groceries are very expensive and services are very expensive, taxes are high, transit infrastructure in Toronto is ridiculously behind other world cities. You need a car to survive in Canada and gas and insurance is very expensive. Childcare is too expensive. Clothing is limited and expensive

As an immigrant who moved to Canada from India, just 3 yrs ago I can say India is affordable , medical services are also affordable and accessible, food is affordable accessible all through the night, transportation is cheaper and better. Weather is fantastic , except during the rainy season. \n\nCanada is not comparable to India, it is like ordering a plate of panipuri from a 7 * hotel and saying Bhayya pyas dhalo at the street vendor.

It's not that bad you work 80 hours a week so you can afford to live in your car while the government takes 40 percent of your pay to sell drugs on the street...

I work and live in canada and have no interest in living here in long term. Canadians born and brought up in canada struggle themselves cant afford to buy a house and live a comfortable life and invest in canada. More or less the same trends can be seen in the US as well. I am a US Citizen and have lived here for 25+ years. The Federal Interest is on high here in order not to make immigrants afford housing. At the same time letting the people enter illegally over the border. Jobs are insecure and questionable for reduced hours etc., make it more complicated to move back to India. Kids born here will face the trauma of culture and other aspects of work and lifestyles. Moving west for better prospects of life is not the norm anymore.,

I hope they pass the word around so we get fewer illegals and economic migrants. Canada has to get its house in order for its own people not for all the people coming without being properly vetted according to our “not so good” immigration Law. Our country has many serious problems to address and fix i.e., health care, military funding, police funding, housing, affordable food. We need our borders strengthened and we need a government that puts the citizens first, not a government leader who with his every off the wall action makes us look an easy touch for the criminal element roaming the world. An excellent example of that is the horror story that is New York City.

I feel sorry to see all these news about Canada. Canada is a beautiful country it values family. Instead of granting visa to high school graduates they should welcome more to family sponsorship, professional graduate students on the funded program. Canadian take student loan from government to fund thier undergraduate program. People chose to immigrate for quality of life and experience new things. It is very disappointed to mobe to that country where the housing is top challenges and affordability. The consutlant offices has to be penalized for selling canadian pr. The strong action from canadaim government is necessary. Punish those criminals who have ruined other life foe thier own earnigs.

Students arent the problem here though, the housing market is the issue across the entire western world. Something about it is broken, and the governments need to make housing more affordable - it’s ridiculous we have to work 10 years with no expenses just to pay for the house - in reality maybe we will get the house at 65, IF we even get the mortgage and can sustain paying it. This is ridiculous!

Canada is a big land. Why leaving the country? Government should do something more affordable to people.

In the 1960s Canada was building homes to accommodate the Boomer wave they saw coming. It was planned.\nToday Canada sets high immigration targets, planned. But does not build homes for those people.. failure to plan. Growing the nation is a great idea, but you have to plan. Fail to plan, plan to fail.\n\nCanada can improve very quickly, all the government has to do is pull it's boot up off the neck of business. Cut red tape, repeal bad laws, tell the cities to fix zoning and shrink their bureaucracy. Build cheaper homes and profit from scale. Build starter homes for the masses, not McMansions for the elite. Young people need a place they can afford, so they can feel secure and start a family.

I had to leave Vancouver 10 years ago literally because I couldn't afford to live there anymore. The cost of living was too high even then, and the job prospects simply weren't there. I have a BA and was an ESL teacher with 20 years experience. Tried changing careers as there were no stable jobs in ESL. I wasted 5 years struggling to find new work and in the end had to leave.

India is way more ahead of Canada, India has advance medical services that is fast and affordable, better food , better infrastructure, affordable internet, less expensive life style, more varieties of cuisine, more transportation options , better education- but not better education system, etc no country is perfect Canada needs to work a lot to improve itself.

Lady, don’t talk about housing crisis. At least Canadian politicians ( irrespective of liberals or democrats) debate on affordable housing in parliaments. Where as Indian politicians don’t have the guts to speak about high cost of living.. Check for cost of living in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad. Indians have to shell crores of money to buy their dream homes, some of which they don’t know if the project or property has any litigations.

Perhaps I will not name the most popular destination for relocation, but I suggest coming to Russia, there are many positive reasons for this (I take Moscow as an example):\n1) Affordable housing with reasonable prices. And I still remembered! Summer holidays for children are 3 months, so where should they go? Summer camp, give mom and dad a break from your nasty whims))\nIf you want to send them to the Black Sea, if you want to send them to Altai to a health center, you can send them to a city camp (They brought the child in the morning and took them away in the evening). Previously, I was constantly sent to the black sea on a permit that was given to my father at work (Shipyard). Now this is only possible in special cases.\n\n7) Vacations. I think if you want to succeed then you will succeed anywhere. I love my country India. But I don’t like the pollution and the rat race children go through . You cannot afford a decent place to stay in big cities if you are not earning really really well. Yes, loneliness is there in Canada but you can make friends , join extracurricular activities. I do hate the health system but also I know that God forbid if I ever have a serious disease , I don’t have to pay for it through my nose like India. This lady is cribbing for nothing at all. I don’t think she wanted to stay. She must have thought here roads are paved with gold. In India also you have to struggle . Go in a packed train to work, come late and cook. You don’t learn any life skills because maid is there.

Any other country in the world would limit the number of international students coming into their own countries. Why shouldn't Canada limit our own borders and allow Canadians to afford and have housing at home? We are already accepting +1 million immigrants and refugees. We Canadians hope that common sense would prevail.

Partner was an assistant professor at UT, after five years we decided the city was completely unaffordable and we would never be able to afford to buy our own house, so we packed and left the country. As an American, I was unprepared for the social decay, human plight, and crumbling infrastructure of TO, the city and roads are literally disintegrating whilst obscene skyscrapers for the wealthy are being built. The further lack of competition in the economy is extraordinary and adds significantly to the inflation of retail prices, especially in food. Legally, the country is the wild west in terms of consumer protection and street crime runs rampant. The city is a farce.

In Canada, when someone can't find an affordable place to rent, they apply for medically assisted death. Better to die in a nice warm hospital bed than over some radiator vent on the street. Temperatures get very cold in Canada. Death on the street in Canada, if you are homeless, could be very slow and painful!

I’m Canadian, my parents didn’t have $28k to give me to go to university. So I’m sorry these ppl think that going to school in Canada is some magic ticket to a successful career making great money, but why should Canadians feel bad for these ppl? Yes u were sold a lie, that North America is some magical land of hope, it’s not, there are millions of ppl in the west who can’t afford university, and have to work their entire lives as janitors and labourers with no savings for retirement, nothing to offer their children, I don’t feel bad thst these ppl are being mislead by Canadian universities, so are we, so many college and university programs are a scam,

Canada has always been expensive. I moved here from Texas for my wife. This isn't the same Canada I moved to though. It's far worse. The job market is crap. It's difficult to get a job in your field. It's easy to get useless jobs that have no long term career opportunities. Real estate is atrocious. Ninety year mortgages? That's just crazy. I don't foresee owning a home in Canada. Rent has gotten so high we refuse to move. We need a bigger place, but we can't afford it. The healthcare is not good, and the wait times are ridiculous. I got better healthcare when I paid out of pocket, but under provincial insurance it's pretty bad. It also doesn't have full healthcare like the UK. At least paying for insurance in the States, everything was covered. Wages suck, benefits are generally bad or nonexistent. My wife is finally about ready to get the hell out.
