Never mind values, they have caused the rise in rent and home ownership. It’s ridiculous the way they keep coming to the country. There is comfortable living for immigrants. So many of them are homeless. And greed driven landlords, realtors and banks are feeding off the people because there is no longer a choice.

My oldest son lives in Cambridge and works at the Toyota assembly plant. His starting wage there a few years ago was LOWER than the starting wage when the plant opened in the 80's. Mass immigration is killing wages.

The small town I live in now has every fast food drive through, and grocery store staffed almost entirely with Indian students. None which live in the town, but commute in every day. No dislike of immigrants, but the last two years has seen a seismic shift!

$200 Billions spent on foreign war to protect their borders, but nothing done with our borders the past 3 years. Biden and the Dems really screw up Americans, they purposely allow millions of illegal immigrants into this country so they can get more future votes, while Americans are put in danger with futures terrorists, criminals, cell agents. Increase in crime, inflation, higher cost of living, higher taxes, higher insurance. The physical and financial burden we have to deal with. The current government needs to protect their country and the citizens, not just the party's selfish own interest.

Immigrants who are paying hefty tax but getting worse standard of living in return are going back. Soon Canada will a slum of unqualified leeches living on government benefits,and adding nothing to economy. It will be bankrupt.

I am in IT, immigrated to Canada from Punjab around 16 yrs ago. I never applied for any job since I landed and was never without a job too. Its actually recruiters who keep on contacting me by checking my LinkedIn profile or seeing my resume online. In recent 1-2 weeks too, I got 6-7 offers. I live in Manitoba with a decent affordable house and have a decent affordable life. \nI love Canada. Living here happily with no complains.

If you look at most walkable, well serviced cities in the world, it is clear that nothing that is good, is particularly affordable. It can be affordable *today* if you move there, but it is likely not affordable if you live there and make their wages.\n\nToronto has become more expensive as time passes. It was great value in the 1990s when things were cheaper, when Toronto's future was less solidified, and there were less immigrants. Now, it is keeping up in cost with other walkable, dense cities in North America.

I have lived in Quebec, Canada for more than 10 years. It is true that Canada is no longer as livable as it used to be. I feel that in addition to the increase in the cost of living in recent years, the overall social fragmentation has become greater, and many social conflicts have intensified. In short, you should be careful when immigrating to Canada.

Sadly, Canada is not longer the country it used to be! \nAffordability is a huge factor, plus the difficulty to enter the job force or find a good job (not only in academia in every field) which so necessary to pay for housing, food etc\nBut also the social and cultural changes has been huge in the past decade. \nAs we see the decline in USA, we can see Canada is following closely and in some areas, we are doing worse.\n20+ years ago Canada have quality of life, that has dropped drastically in every area health services, schools, security, transportation, housing, infrastructure etc. although we pay higher taxes than other countries we do not have the same services.\nLaws restricting liberties and going to the extreme on protecting and impossing other ideologes erosion of freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, freedom of religion etc. \nOn top all that is the huge public debt, lack of transparency, abuse in the spending of many politicians, and corruption.\nAll together has turned living in Canada less disarable for many immigrants and also nationals. Many Canadian are choosing to live abroad or retire abroad.

There is a whole other Canada outside Toronto, Brampton or Vancouver. Disgruntled, leave. No one is stopping you from leaving. Should have done more investigation on Canada instead of taking some hired foreign immigration official advice, whose job is to make money off your back, telling you mistruths and all you had to do was do your own investigation. This is on you. Complaining about shovelling snow in a country where it snows! Really! What a stupid comment. Unhappy? There is a plane leaving with your name on it. And no one owes you a living.

Those who have bought houses will have to pay the mortgage for a long time. Many homeowners are paying interest only, there is no reduction in the principal. \nBus service is so sparse that sometimes more than 100 passengers wait for a 38-seater bus. \nInternational students are in a very bad situation. Spend 25-30 lakhs, live 4-5 together in basements and do hard labor jobs (warehousing, retail cashier, security). Canada wants young qualified immigrants sho do small jobs and pay heavy taxes to pay for the sick and ageing Canadian population and themselves live in perpetual poverty without owning a house, or get caught in the merciless mortgage payment system. Some Canadians want to also leave…… taxes and quality of affordable living working and life balance…..spent early 20s to early 50s working 60-80 hrs per week and only now realized that all that hard work hasn’t paid off enough for early retirement or a wealthy retirement. Being a generational Canadian we often don’t see the struggle early enough and are told hard work pays off……..it does until you find yourself asking yourself what was all that for, worked and worked to give the government more than you give your family. I would not want to immigrate to Canada.

Australia has never been an easy country to live freely as an immigrant at all

Immigrants aren't stupid. Anyone with grade 1 math can quickly figure out the cost of living far out weight your income. People get citizenship and leave and if they are rich enough they'll buy a place on their way out further exacerbating life for those who stay.

I'm one of them.\n\nI landed in October of 2022 as a skilled immigrant, and stayed for a month before returning home to finish off some work commitments.\n\nI haven't returned since, and I don't think I will. I have a decent house, good career prospects/business opportunities back home, and I can take a vacation abroad or travel domestically for fairly cheap multiple times a year. \n\nFree/subsidised government healthcare isn't the best (not the worst either) but we also have private hospitals/clinics that are relatively affordable and fairly quick to access. \n\nFurthermore many other immigrants I know living there are telling me that they are planning on leaving as well.\n\nThe cost of living in major Canadian cities is no joke. I feel for the people born there who don't have other options.

In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Dumb question. Why are immigrants leaving Canada. Number one, we're full. There's no housing for our own, let alone them. Number two, its too expensive to live here. Number three, the growing resentment among actual Canadians that were born here is being felt by them. Simple as that.

You haven't mentioned enormous bureaucratic apparatus of the government which costs a lot to run being extremely inefficient at the same time. Canadian immigration program is just a cheap labor scam and Ponzie scheme. My wife works in retail. Earns minimum wage plus commission from sales. She made almost 25% less in 2023 compared to 2022. If adjusted for inflation that would be closer to 30%. My salary was ok in 2018 but became stagnant. Both incomes combined barely make us through the month. The fact that I have to work two weeks in a month just to pay rent is very depressing. Having lived in Canada for almost 6 years I seriously regret decision to move here.

Fake visitors from sh!thole countries are dropping in Canada and seeking asylum and then lead to taxpayers' welfare handouts. Our immigration system is totally broken. We need quality migrants who can contribute to the Canadaian economy, not the quantity who comes here to live off our taxpayers. Send those back as fast as they came. As someone who lived in Quebec for 8 years, I can say that Canada has an undeservedly good image abroad. It's a trap for immigrants, where they suck out all their savings and energy. In reality, it's not even a state, it's a corporation where monopolies and associated corrupt politicians rule the roost. Lack of preventive healthcare, huge taxes, unbelievably high prices compared to incomes for everything from food to housing, outdated infrastructure... I hope to find the ways to leave here soon.

The government should be very clear to immigrants. Canada doesn't need workers in the Professions. Canada needs janitors and donut servers willing to live with two other families in a 2 bedroom condo or we need the rich to fleece off of. Just go onto indeed leave the key word blank and set the location as Vancouver. Most jobs you'll find pay 45-50 k or demand experience so specific no immigrant and most residents can't hope to qualify. Canada has a labour shortage the same way it has a shortage of 40k Porches.

Sorry but a lot of people use their children as leverage for pitty, trust me a lot of them arent coming to make a better life for their kids. They want to come and wire money back to all their friends and family back home especially if its for illegal business. They will do anything for money even if its illegal their raised JUST to make money no matter what. Right now is probably the worst time to come here. With global recession and post-pandemic hardship, everyone is feeling the pinch. Small businesses are closing down as they could not repay back the relief loans given by the government during the pandemic. Trudeau’s policy of immigration through the educational stream and admitting so many refugees from Syria and Ukraine have caused massive rent increase - too many people chasing after lower real estate supply. Because people are feeling the pinch, crimes are up and homelessness has become a serious issue. But, here are the (long-term) advantages of living here, vs. The Philippines:\n- free healthcare - no matter how rich you are back home, wealth can be depleted if a major illness strikes;\n- free education for your kids up to highschool and opportunity for your kids to enter worldclass universities after highschool;\n- government programs that actually work - Worker rights are upheld, doleouts when you lose your job, 12-month mat/paternity leave, doleout/govt match when you save for yr kid’s university educ, tax rebates for whatever you save for retirement, retirement income even if you never held a job, infrastructures are maintained, transparency and stability of political system; \n- safer environment - yes, greater crimes lately, but still one of the safest places to live. I live in greater Toronto, and sometimes we forget to lock our door at night or leave a bicycle outside and nothing happens;\n- commitment to the environment - the country adheres to protecting the envt. You can drink water from the faucet. Strict laws on recycling and waste disposal. Greenbelt protection on forest and conservation park areas, even in the cities. Canada also has the world’s biggest water supply...in today’s global climate change, were decades away from water wars;\n- a beautiful country with friendly, humble and relaxed people who observe work-life balance

Too many immigrants and refugees are let into Canada and they expect a golden hand without realizing that Canada is a very large cold country for 6 months of the year, therefore everyone wants to live and work close too USA boarder which become so populated that the infrastructure can't keep up with the demands of the new immigrants and refugees.
