Trump warned that if Canada retaliated then Trump will up the tariffs so 25% just became 50%.. Trumps issue is 1) Trade deficit. 2) NATO slackers ... Canada is only 1.8% then finally 3) Border issues

New construction is seen as one of the bell weathers of an economy and affects all sorts of other potential investment. Trump has now started a trade war with the major supplier of US lumber and has frightened many thousands of construction day laborers into hiding with his haphazard deportations.

There just needs to be a global trade hault to the USA until trump is removed and things put back into order.
2025-02-01 0
A long time ago, most of the world pivoted towards trade with China. Canada and Mexico have been the last holdouts.
2025-02-01 0
Epic fail to not work with the world’s biggest economy and your biggest trading partner. Can’t get rid of Trudeau fast enough.
2025-02-01 1
If you do the math and see who purchases what from who, this is heavily in favour of the US. Yes, both countries will hurt but it will hurt Canada a lot more - this is just going from national statistics for trade dependencies.

Canada will continue to trade with Mexico, the European Union, the UK, Australia, South Korea, India ( which is the worlds largest population) and the list goes on and on. Canada now has a new opportunity to create new trade relations, find trustworthy customers and build a stronger economy with diverse trading partners.

Tarriffs are irrelevant if other countries and individuals simply stop buying from or trading to the US. I can't buy US products now for ethical reasons. Trump being oblivious to his fan boy's ?? .

Waiting usa trade war with eu?

Canada and Mexico should seek opportunities beyond Asia and Europe to establish a significant trade agreement.

President Donald Trump has stated that he will improve the United States economy with massive deportation of undocumented migrants\n, layoffs of government workers , deep cuts in social security benefits for disabled citizens or the elderly , and reduction of medicaid . \n However , a significant number of Americans are unaware that Trump is also planning to reduce the taxes for the rich , and give billions of more money to Israel or engage in unwinnable wars in West Asia . It should also be noted that Trump's theories to make America great again will have a disastrous effect on the economy or on life in the United States, especially because he is also about to start a trade war by significantly increasing tarrifs or duties on imported goods and products from China, Canada and Mexico \nAs a result, the Trump plan for the next four years may simply make America poor again.

I’ll gladly trade places with one of them. This government takes so much money from me I won’t ever be able to escape this place. Might as well be a prisoner on house arrest ?

Use its economic leverage, trade relationship better access, they rely on indian talent if they are so talented then why not use it in their own country, doesnt she know why US wont answer because she cant handle the truth, choose visa friendly nations like thai, vietnam and sri lanka really, cant because she is hosting a show, need a bit of common sense

Oh look - Trump being a leader , getting the job done . Just imagine - Trump wins the 2020 election - a secure border , almost zero illegals. Trump tells Putin the way it’s going to be , bullying him or otherwise , who cares - no Ukraine conflict - no million dead - no ruin of large parts of Eastern Ukraine , and a lot of scared , undertrained young Russian conscripts still alive . Just think , in 2020, Trump bullies Iran , a terrorist rogue state - he DOES NOT end their trade embargoes like Biden did , he does not gift them billions of dollars like Biden did , and he does NOT turn a blind eye to them breaching the limits placed on their nuclear program. The result - a broke Iran , no WMD, NOT selling Trillions of dollars worth of oil to China - and in no position to attack Israel via its proxies. Imagine that . Imagine then , the previously vibrant U.S oil and gas industry , making the U.S self-sufficient , not in the current position where the U.S is on it’s knees , begging the Saudis to sell supplies the U.S. THAT , is about to change. Like him or not -Trump gets it done . He was brokering peace deals in Ukraine and Palestine - even as Biden was authorising the firing of U.S missiles into Russia - you know just provoking some crazy megalomaniac to start a nuclear exchange . Pitiful Biden , weak , demented , corrupt and criminally irresponsible.

Criminals? Hell yes send them home. Law abiding undocumented people? You are a fool to send back. We are going to need them to rebuild Southern California for example. Most undocumented workers are skilled at a trade. Roofing, agriculture, construction, etc. Why send them home? WHY WHY WHY?\nDo you think gang bangers in the hood are going to start picking crops, trimming trees and repairing roofs?

CNN jumped on the report. Things have changed already. Petro retreated and even offer his plane to bring back his Citizens. How out of touch he is with his reporting, he stated that we are at the verge of a “trade war” lol. People that do not inform themselves already told others people “we are at war with Colombia”.
2025-01-27 0
Trump's constant threat of tariffs only instills in our trading partner that they need to find someone new to trade with. Americans hear the word tariff out of Trump's mouth and they say yes, yes and they should be saying NO, NO. America is just not a reliable alli.
2025-01-27 0
This is just a nothing story, Trump loves to play the theatrics. Media played right into his hands, again. . No he cannot, we have a trade agreement with Columbia that eliminates tariffs between the 2 countries. Just more dog and pony show for his supporters. I'm not disputing deporting people who are here illegally. Just calling bs,
2025-01-27 0
There was no trade war with Columbia. Gustavo had a case of FAFO ?
2025-01-27 0
Very good? By that you mean we have the absolute worst trade deals. Our Representatives has let the whole planet walk all over us when it comes to trade deals or anything that involves other countries and money from the United States or any country using the United States to make money for themselves. That's all ending now in America will actually start making money instead of our debt Clock going in reverse faster than an F1 car
2025-01-27 0
Hmm no one will want to trade with america if he does this to others
2025-01-27 0
President Trump ended a trade war in 30 mins ???
2025-01-27 0
Amazing how these fine people who should remain in America (according to some) were not wanted back by their own country. When they were willing (for about an hour, LOL) to have a trade war because that's how badly they did not want them back, it goes a long way to prove that Trump is right.

You guys are incorrect on what happens when the US raises tariffs on certain items from Colombia. Do you think American importers will continue to import highly tariffed commodities like bananas and coffee?! No they find other countries and other sources because consumers won’t pay 50% more on coffee and bananas. Guess what what Russia and North Korea are doing? ISOLATED to death on their economy. Russia isn’t doing well unlike what others may be thinking. They’re only doing barely enough because of their oil and coals, yet their oils aren’t traded high enough and look at North Korea it’s segregated. I’ve been to North Korea actually by accident and they live like 100 years ago, in deluded made up world far from reality. Look at Cuba. They are sanctioned by the U.S. and the rest of the developed countries. Who is going to lose by being highly tariffed?? Columbia. Not the U.S. You guys need one on one basic education on trading commodities.

Howdy Trumpies? Prepare for inflation. I wonder if MAGA even understand how tariffs work? Tariffs are trade barriers, and they can be used to protect domestic industry. \nSuppose US imports a product 'A' for $100 from some country. Now, if 10% tariffs are imposed on that country then that product 'A' would be sold for $110. Enjoy!!! \nYes, a domestic company can produce that product A and sell it at low prices like say $90, since no import duties or stuff. However, that takes time and not all products can be produced domestically!

The two flights to Mexico that got turned away carried less than 100 migrants cost US taxpayers $900,000! CNN might want to mention that. Drumpf used expensive military jets because he just couldn't wait for CBP jets (because he wanted a photo shoot!). He should have to pay for the extra cost out of his pocket, not ours. What will it cost to take migrants back to China? Tax cuts for the billionaire broligarchs cost US money. Using C-130 aircraft is overkill and affects military readiness. Threatening tariffs on our allies is going to spark trade wars. He's a moron.
2025-01-26 0
What if all latin countries band together and reject all USA related , including dollar as trading currency. It feels good now but the rest of the world will and together
2025-01-26 0
It's not scary to have a trade embargo. Columbia? Idon't understand how they have a person on CNN trying to convince people that Latin American country is better than the United States. There is no Latin American country better than the United States.
2025-01-26 0
All countries besides the usa should not trade nothing with the usa...then watch trump give up and treat other countries better...
2025-01-26 0
The Orange Shitler has moved against a trading partner and ally. Most of the world now hates America.

BRICS countries with Canada, Mexico, and the EU should just boycott US Goods & Services and trade with each other! 80% of the US Economy is a SERVICE Economy that creates NOTHING!
2025-01-26 0
What in the sweet freshwater port is this Russian bots don’t understand how tariffs on goddamn Colombia is a stupid idea hell if then Colombia will just turn to trading it to other countries or joining brics if America is that unstable as a country why bother with them
2025-01-26 0
so why are they turning back their so-called migrants because they know they are criminals. CNN America does not have a trade war with a nation which has a GDP which is 1% of the US GDP America has been disrespected too much enough is enough. I dont care if my coffee and Bananas are expensive in the short run i care about Americans getting Jobs.

Trump's tariffs will hurt America. Columbia's will probably hurt Columbia, too. That's why it's called a trade war. It's a conflict of economic attrition. Who hurts the worst the longest usually folds; but a depression can also be triggered by such, as Herbert Hoover's tariff fought trade wars contributed to the Crash of 1929. So are we dancing toward catastrophe? Possibly. Go ahead and laugh. Personally I'll wait for my schadenfreude - it'll be delicious. ???
2025-01-26 0
Not a big trade issue, other coffee producers will be happy!
2025-01-26 0
I think its great , we may pay more for food but wait we have california who exports food . Maybe they should trade it for federal fire aid.

Read this American Trump is destroying your Contry if not he gets remove\n\nExplanation of Article 5\nArticle 5 of the NATO treaty is the cornerstone of the alliance's collective defense principle. It states that an attack on one NATO member is considered an attack on all members. This mutual defense clause has been invoked only once—after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.\n\nThe United States is bound by Article 5, meaning it cannot disregard its obligations to other NATO members, such as Denmark. The principle ensures that all members protect and support each other, creating collective security.\n\nWho Pays for Tariffs?\nA tariff is a tax or duty imposed on imported goods. There’s often confusion about who ultimately pays for tariffs. Here are the key points:\n\nImporters Pay Tariffs: When goods cross a border, the importer in the receiving country is charged the tariff.\nHigher Prices for Consumers: Importers typically pass these costs to consumers, making goods more expensive in the country imposing the tariffs.\nImpact on Competitiveness: While tariffs can make domestic goods more competitive, they often harm the economy by reducing trade and innovation.\nFor example, if the U.S. imposes high tariffs on European goods, American consumers and businesses bear the cost through higher prices, not European producers.\n\nTrade and Alliances\nThe text highlights the interconnectedness of trade policy and diplomacy. Harmful trade policies, such as aggressive tariffs, can damage relationships with long-standing allies like Denmark and the EU. If the U.S. alienates its allies, it risks losing the strategic partnerships and security benefits provided by NATO and other agreements.\n\nDenmark and other EU countries offer trade opportunities but expect respect and cooperation in return. Breaking ties with the EU or NATO could leave the U.S. isolated and weaken its global influence.\n\nConclusion\nArticle 5 ensures mutual security within NATO, including for the U.S.\nTariffs often hurt the country imposing them, as costs are passed to domestic consumers.\nStrong alliances are critical for both trade and security. Conflicts with EU or NATO countries could isolate the U.S. and undermine its global partnerships.

Trump doesn't care about no trade wars the us produces food and they can just get the food from other countries like they already do
2025-01-26 0
Columbia is matching those tariffs. USA thinks they can bully other countries. You cannot, bit nobody has to accept it. USA will lose a tariff / trade war as other countries will fill those trade gaps like human beings and not dollar store dictators
2025-01-26 0
We don’t need food and who cares that we have a trade surplus with Columbia. You’re just gonna have to pay more money for your bananas and your other tropical fruits or start eating American fruits.
2025-01-26 0
CNN always reports pro trump now. You are disgusting. \nReport the truth \nWe stand with Columbia\nWe will all trade with Columbia . USA makes nothing we don’t make. USA has voted to kill their own country. FAFO is going to be wild and funny AF
2025-01-26 0
Columbia could just as well call to arms against the US. How do they think they could win thus trade war? The only war they win is the drug war. The cartels that is.
2025-01-26 0
Do any of you geniuses here realize who pays for tariffs? Your supporting higher prices on imported goods!\nGo from trade free relationship.. to 25% tariffs?\nWhy?\nSo boner boy keeps his ego stoked?
2025-01-26 0
Thank you DTJ. I just made $42K on downfall BTC trade‼️??????????????????????
2025-01-26 0
Fun fact: Columbia is where we get a major chunk of our coffee from, so now our coffee, our fuel for working Americans will get more expensive if this is a prolonged tariff! We're just hurting ourselves with these outrageous tariffs because all of these countries (even Columbia) can just sell the supply of whatever the US is putting a tariff on to other countries like in Europe or Asia, or could just put retaliatory tariffs on us, leading to a possible trade war over FUCKING COFFEE. Our 2 party political system sucks harder than the jet engines of those planes that got denied.
2025-01-26 0
THE REASON THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO LAND IS BECAUSE THOSE PEOPLE ARE TIED UP LIKE PRISONERS. THE COLOMBIAN PRESIDENT SENT TWO PLANES HIMSELF TO GO PICK THEM UP UNTIED AND BROUGHT THEM BACK TO COLUMBIA ON A PLEASANT FLIGHT ALSO Columbia hit TRUMP right back with their own tariffs and now our coffee prices are going up AT LEAST 50% We’re in a trade war with one of our closest allies or used to be. We don’t have any allies left in the world thanks to Donald Trump. I mean, even the roses for people’s weddings are gonna be a 50% Donald Trump is a f’ing idiot.
2025-01-26 0
The US is not Columbia's major trading partner
2025-01-26 0
