In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no culture, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, only modern slavery, worst healthcare system, unbearable political correctness, crime infested/drug infested, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become a North Korea style dictatorship in the western world.\n\nTheir are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. The government does not have the money to take care of old people and provide healthcare, pensions and the various other benefits, even with the astronomical taxation that burdens hard working Canucks. Well Canada, you had a good run. Time for Canucks to move to an emerging country. We welcome you here in Southeast Asia.

This is a very thoughtful and balanced review. As a retired Canadian who had a good job for most of my life, I'm saddened by the decline in almost all areas of life, lifestyle and and people's aspirations in this country. This decline actually seems quite rapid, I would say from 2015 onwards. Housing in major centres was expensive, but it has skyrocketed in the past decade. There has been a decline in many institutions: 1. health-care, especially noticeable since the pandemic that coincided with many boomer medical staff retiring, but also by our sclerotic institutions refusing to enable foreign-trained doctors to work here. Many foreign-trained doctors in the Vancouver area are doing jobs way below their qualifications while many people cannot even get a family doctor. Crazy. Econonically, there seems to have been no plan at all from the government as we exited the pandemic. At least the US had a plan, to 'build back better'. Our government just floats along as if everything is fine, when the decline is very visible especially to older Canadians. We have admitted 1/2 a million people a year from overseas, so our economy should reflect this and show an upswing. But no, we're in a 'technical recession' as of December and probably a real recession as of last week. I have never voted Conservative in my life, but Trudeau is a flaky dimwit with a famous name who has no clue what he is doing. A fool, in fact. He's mismanaged our foreign relations beyond belief, and nothing has improved domestically. When Pierre Poilievre says 'Canada is broken', I believe it. We deserve much better leadership; in Canada's case, the rot does come from the top. Justin the entitled idiot is much more like his mother than his father.\n\nLong rant. Anyway, I just wanted to praise your balance, and your decision to stay for now. Moving from one country to another is a huge life-change and you have worked hard to be here. I only hope conditions improve for you and your husband in the near future. Will look out for your future videos.

The biggest cause for the cost of living increase we've seen in Canada in the last decade can be largely attributed to government policy regarding immigration. Not the fault of anyone coming here. Foreign immigration agencies and the Canadian government are selling people false hopes. They are doing newcomers and Canadians a disservice. Unfortunately the government has no intention to put the brakes on the flow of new immigrants, even when there is not enough housing for everyone. We are at a breaking point in many cities and immigrants are being blamed, when the blame should be squarely on governments at all levels.

I’m sorry you chose to move to this dump. When Canadians are leaving Canada, you _know_ things are bad and you should avoid coming here. Think about how many people want to leave, but can’t.

I am saddend by the number of people who have chosen to leave Canada, although I realize that this is a good decision for you and many others. This country has changed, and not for the better. Greed has taken over with grocery conglomerates eliminating competition and raising prices for record profits. Buying a house now requires a lottery win, not just a mortgage. It seems that we are working to pay taxes and the banks and the insurance companies. And I have yet to hear anything meaninfull about this situation from the government on these issues. Canadian born here.. Yes, this country has become difficult for everyone except the Rich and the very Poor. Many of my Canadian born friends have nothing after years of work. Unless you've bought real estate 10 yrs ago, you're Fd.. No one can afford to live here.

Great video, candid and honest appraisal of the current situation in Canada. We moved to Canada from the UK 20 years ago and initially we loved every minute. But the slow spiral into the hell hole since Trudeau took power has totally changed our opinion of Canada. We have now retired and spend winter in the USA and considering leaving if Trudeau gets re-elected next time around. Also we have to say how Canadians are very disingenuous and can be two faced.\nWe do have many Canadian friends but in 20 years we are not that close to them.

Im a Canadian, currently living in Vancouver but I've lived in many countries and will expat again. What it boils down to is if you have a good professional job that pays well, quality of life here is fantastic (among the best). Great schools, clean, great for young kids, and unparalleled acces to the best nature in the world mintues from a world class city. But life gets difficult quick when you cant afford anything. All these other complaints are blown out of porpotion (politics, drugs, etc...) by many and mostly don't really impact most people. In my experience, most people really leave because of better pay in the US, or because Europe has more culture, or asia has many more contries to explore close, or has LATAM has better weather etc...

I am Mennonite (a pacifist denomination of anabaptist Christianity) Canadian, and our government’s support for the wars and human rights violations of the Military Industrial Complex and the American Financial System deeply sadden and anger me. I really dislike Canada now because it is so segregated and overly progressive. A large portion of Chinese and Indians are not a fabric of society and are outsiders in their own ethnic enclaves. I already left, and so are many fellow Canadians like me. If you want immigration you need a cood down period so that these immigrants learn to adapt to the culture first rather than allowing these communities to become the new Canada.

You explained this so well!! My partner and I moved to Canada 3 years ago just as we got approved for H1B. We had to chose between moving to CA or staying there in an uncertain limbo for 2 decades waiting for a greencard. You did a good job talking about the downsides of moving such as a lower salary and higher home prices. We bought a small townhouse for the price we could have paid in the US for a detached house. Many people I know in similar situations leave CA and move back to the US once they get their Canadian citizenship. However, I do think that there are many reasons to stay such as the political climate. The US has become very regressive banning abortions, making gun laws more lenient and it’s not as accepting when it comes to diversity and inclusion (be it POC community or Lgbtqia+) unless you live in a big city which is expensive. These are the reasons we chose to stay, especially if we have kids as school shootings are getting more and more common there.

It's a disgrace how Canada has been governed the last 8 years. Government debt is through the roof and that burden has been passed directly to the once so called middle class now the working poor. I am leaving Canada as I can only see life and standard of living dropping considerably. If they stop the idiot policies now, it will take a generation to recover, but i hardly see that happening. The climate activists, gender activists and health fear mongering is controlling policy and brainwashing children. Canadians will accpet things. They will suffer and just accept what leadership is lying about. it is sad. once a great country and a beacon of hope for many around the world, that has been corrupted.

I had 2 men on go to Toronto try and steal my bag ,off duty officer from uk said he saw it I moved so fast he didn’t get my bag and police officer tried to grab him white guy and black guy 29’s working together ,sit in handicap section safer ,I’m born in Toronto ,it’s the worst mess ever ,nothing like home ,Canadians born in Canada are just staying home ,look at union station dec 31 ,we were all scared \nWho are all these. Men ?\nWhat have we done crime is high I’m 70 getting picked in on a transit train at 2 om ,well I carry tasers now ,crime is out of control ,I know ,no where have I been more attacked since 10 yrs old ,all by immigrants strangely enough but union shows how many. I'm amazed by how many immigrants are surprised at the cost of living in Canada. Don't they do research before moving here? Before i would move anywhere, I would research rent / food costs etc. The other stuff like making friends is harder to research...I am Canadian that has lived in a few other countries and I'm planning to leave at some point, mainly due to cost of living. I will take Greece, Italy, Spain, SE Asia or a few South American countries any day over Canada. Shame as Canada used to be such a good place to live.

For the point where companies asking for Canadian experience only for a job requirement is totally dependent on job type and roles. For banking and insurance domain its valid to ask for local experience or equivalent experience through internships if studied in Canada. But if you are applying for IT jobs, I think this requirement is baseless can be dropped. For example, banking in middle east is totally different from many other countries same like insurance domain varies by country or region as well. Medical professionals need to clear country specific requirements if they have degree from their home country. And in Ontario, recently provincial govt has announced to drop this requirement from job requirement. So, hopefully other provinces also do the same.

Good luck to you because, obviously, you don't belong to Canada, a country founded on Christianity! Also, there are many Jewish people here, and there are many Canadians who support the Jews who have contributed to the world!

It is amazing how we muslims think alike. I have spoken to so many young canadian muslims and especially the new immigrants and they have the same top5 concerns.

What is missing is that many leave after getting Canadian citizenship. So it is a two edge sword...stay in Canada for the prized citizenship. I think those who leave with that are just using the system...short term pain, long term gain...also these issues about Canada are not new...anyone thinking the streets are paved with gold are not paying attention. Also much immigration is family reunification. Also, when one leaves were are they going to go...not the US these days...

If you immigrate to Canada, you might wanna start picking a area or city that isn’t the most expensive ones in the nation, what would you expect, many of us fellow Canadians would never even dream of moving to Toronto in the first place. Yet immigrants for some strange reason expect to move to the largest areas and by far the most expensive and have a wonderful life there. Life doesn’t work that way Unfortunately.

I'm Canadian born and raised.The main problem is too many people are left leaning so we have the same problems as California,to much bureaucracy,high taxes,crime,homelessness,drugs etc that's all a biproduct of liberalism.High taxes are needed to fund left wing policies like the climate scam,giving billions to ukraine,womens groups,gay groups etc the useless bureaucrats have to justify their position so millions of unnecessary and pointless policies are imposed.I'm a welder and the bs you have to go through is so extream many just give up and do something else.As for immigrants it effects them too so we have doctors driving cabs or nurses working at mcdonalds etc these problems really started to be an issue when Canada got progressive in the mid 90s and never recovered.I heard 50k of born and raised Canadians have been leaving every year for the last 3 years with no end in sight.My countrymen need to wake up and dump left wing thinking and bring back the conservatism from the past that built this country or there won't be a Canada.

Our company moved to Canada and tried for >2 years and spent several millions Canadian dollars and got nothing in Canada. So many approvals and also there’s a horrible carbon tax! However when we moved to Texas, we finished the first project in 5 months and start to earn money! Now we are expending our business to other states. And there’re quite a few projects are working as cash cow. Crazy and sad expensive!

I can understand why people want to leave or not come to Canada, weather, cold weather can last up to six months and the summer isn’t always that great. Another reason, taxes…. Canadians are taxed to death here, you are taxed on everything here and if you make good money and aren’t paying enough taxes, you could pay a good chunk come tax time. Job market sucks, there are lots of jobs but these jobs don’t pay the greatest. Cost of living has skyrocketed over the years and in my personal opinion, since Justin Trudeau has been PM, everything has doubled in cost, so many people are struggling, many young couples can’t afford a house, rent has been on the rise over the years and so many people rely on the food banks, the highest it’s ever been in Canadian history, crime has gone up and drug use has also gone up and oddly enough, ever since Trudeau has been in charge and I’m sure some will disagree with this but Canada was never like this before Trudeau.

For Canadians over the age of 65, the lack of health care in Canada is turning deadly. More and more of them are dying while waiting for treatments. Many of them are now deciding that it is better to emmigrate to some other country that has a functioning health care system before they get seriously sick and die in Canada waiting for treatment.

No thoughts on how to sustainably grow a country foster growth and development of the economy. Providing needed housing development and health care to match population growth. The chasing of woke attitudes obstructing the development of resource industries that could provide much economic wealth has led to destruction of our once great country and making us an international joke. Many Filipino,indian,pakistani engineers, whom I knew, spent many thousand us dollars went to Canada with their families to improve their lives.but, when they arrived in Canada, they worked not as an engineer, but worked in a position below engineers, like skilled workers.so, salary is low,everything expensive. Almost ni savings and you feel racism.so, almost these engineers with their families went back to their native countries.their credentials accepted and worked as engineers with good savings.canadian government and most white Canadians think they are superhuman.so, I never think to go to canada.see the results, many Canadians homeless and the Canadian government doesn't care.if gov cares, where is the program for the homeless ?

As a born and raised Canadian of immigrant parents, i have definitely noticed the increasing influx of people leaving this country in recent months. This issue has popping up more in the news, just around this year. Canada needs immigrants, thats true for the long term it will benefit the country, but right now its more of the drawbacks that are manifesting. Accepting More immigrants means that more resources are needed, that means and so many tax paid social services and benefits like housing, healthcare, welfare, citizenship applications, waitlists, wait times, lineups, everything is getting longer and pushed back. I get what everyone feels.

No the cost of living was not always this high! Since the massive spike in a certain population moving here steadily since expo 86 & then another massive spike in 2010 (& so on), rent has quadrupled (possibly more) & not kept up with min wage & born Canadians have had enough. Which might have something to do with why they’re not as friendly, anymore. We can’t afford to buy our own home in the place we are born, when also MANY homes sit empty that owned by mainly corrupt brokers working with overseas Asian’s. It’s a sad truth with stats & articles to back this all up. Many people have simply had enough & I don’t blame anyone for feeling that way.

As a native Canadian I totally understand your stand on winter and inflation. As a native Canadian I think we don't inform immigrants and outsiders that winter climate does to alot of people. There is a seasonal affective disorder (very prevelent) in my father's family and even my mother unfailing optimism get's like you fatigue at the very least. Kids love winter but yes as a adult or even a teen many people retreat and feel isolated. As for inflation, I do hope you find a country where the gouvernement(s) aren't denying the insanity that is going on. To be honest, after centuries of being a Quebec native, I have fantasized very heavily about moving myself because even with a good salary things each year since Covid-19 have become just terribly expensive and it affect primarily basic shelter and food needs. Canada is becoming worse every day anyway!!! Salary are low (while cost of living is skyrocketing), which is why we have so many Canadians and immigrants who are becoming so anxious, depressed and facing all sorts of mental problems), people are moody, quality of life is decreasing and transport is trash compared to France and the lack for doctors is making this country look like a third world\nEconomy!!! Even Canadians are happy to leave this place and honestly, we think of leaving it too for another country.. that you can trust me! (My 2 younger sisters are actually leaving and makes plans to leave Canada behind for good to immigrate elsewhere and my older brother plans to relocate to a warmer country.\n.. and NO!! Sorry guys, all of the reasons that you mentioned except maybe the inflation (which I think is temporary and happening around the world), are the reasons that you SHOULD STAY in Canada. If you leave then you are giving up challenges and trying to find an easy way out. Please remember nothing comes easy and if you leave Canada then you are not going to be part of the struggle to change the mindsets of Canadian society that Muslims can be also accepted in Canada as they are, which may not come during your or your children's lifetime but it will come eventually maybe during your grandchildren or great grandchildren's lifetime and you need plant the seed for that now otherwise there will be no fruitful outcome. It needs lots of patience and initial suffering for a group of minority or downtrodden people to be accepted within the mainstream societly. If the Muslim people start leaving Canada just like you guys then there will be fewer Muslims for this struggle to bring changes in Canadian society. I think you are escapign the struggle and suffering and you guys can affford that but you are leaving many of them behind who cannod afford to leave Canada and it will make their lives even worse and the future generation. Allowing foreign buyers to purchase houses while NOT living in Canada was the trigger that started all this. Canada receives WAY TOO MANY immigrants per year. The system cant adjusts fast enough. This drive the demand for housing and for rents. \nCanada needs to close access to land/house to foreign buyers, stop investment visa, and cease immigration for a few years until the system catches up to the demand.\nY'all leave Canada and won't ever give up your Canadian passport in case things go south in your new country (also visa privilege).

I cant blame you for the cold. I dont love the winter either. I moved back to the cold winter from the coast and boy do you get spoiled on either coast of canada for weather! I just dont like to be cold. If I could move to the USA, preferably texas. I would go. In terms of living costs, its sad how many canadians dont understand that places like BC and ON have been pricey for a long time. Its new in other provinces to be this expensive and AB, SK, MB, QC. While some of those provinces are more expensive than others, they're new to the super high prices and many refuse to recognize how ON and BC have been paying these prices far longer then inflation right now, which isn't new either. While I'm not muslim, I am LDS and we are not a favourite religion in society either. We get chastised all the time and nobody bats an eye. I've been insulted by employers, our church buildings have been set on fire. I still have to explain why my faith doesn't believe in working on sundays (as employers want that these days). I think some religions or non religious dont want to recognize what we get put through too. Even though we can relate to muslims in our own way. My faith enjoys serving communities with the muslims, I have worked with muslims and many are just the kindest people! The first president of our church got murdered and our people got chased within the USA and americans seem to believe that this doesn't happen in their own country but the same hate has and continues to happen in my faith. So I can understand, we face a lot of rejection when we speak about our faith. I can understand in my own way how you feel.

Immigrants have contributed to making Canadian products and real estate expensive and have changed the image and carbon footprint of Canada to be what they want it to be. Thus, I as a natural born Canadian cannot relate to this country anymore. Too many corrupt politicians \ntoo much BS and no more democracy as we are now a totalitarian country. We subsidize immigrants at the expense of natural Canadians and deprive true Canadians from working by giving jobs to immigrants at a discounted rates for employers. Can anyone say job discrimination. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...i did not pay taxes all my life for immigrants to benefit from our system.

We've had a 300% increase in Canadians interested in moving to the U.S.! Many feel they have hit a peak in their career in Canada.

It's so sad, because it is such a huge, beautiful country. And you know, in the USA, we grew up watching things, and reading things, etc that weren't even Amercian, but Canadian, and mostly not knowing it. So many beloved things from Canada. We did also feel like they were happier, and more pleasant than we were. But I have many friends up there, from all Provinces, and they all have the same complaints. Thing is, they are the same complaints about the USA also, but just things like crime in the USA is notably worse....I used to live in the UK also, and that was better, but still not brilliant. The west as a whole is falling apart, and there are reasons for that, reasons that are being mostly ignored, so it will only get worse I'm afraid, unless we start demanding that they know longer be countries that cater to only the rich. Where only the rich can thrive.

Is there ANYTHING in Canada that isn't broken right now ? I feel for the Police and Immigration officials trying to process so many people, but the tide of negativity from so many Canadians on YT is incredible. We are faced with many of the same problems here in Australia, particularly on our East Coast, but I don't see the exodus of people who were born here. Interesting times ahead.

Canadian here. Allowed me to work hard, fully pay off my house and have a good life. It's not perfect here but many exotic places are shiny on the outside but rotten on the inside.

This is very old news. Living in Canada has always been expensive and that is way many Canadians come to USA to work. But Chinese who have immigrated to Canada are leaving Canada, because realizing the economic reality is not in their favor.
