Why the census census states Punjabi and not Indian is that we have a distinct cultural difference. Sadly a lot of the deterioration Brampton is going through is probably what is atypical of Punjab in Pakistan and India. It's the norm to be commit to a time and not show up, commit to work and not complete it, filling out incomplete forms, not being truly honest on your taxes, etc. It's just cultural - no one challenge me on this as I'm ethnically Punjabi from all 4 grandparents!\n\nAlso Canada isn't multicultural as it has an overwhelming amount of Indians, Pakistanis, Philippinos, and Chinese. We lack representation from southeast Asia, Africa, and the most important one - central and south America.

I’ve said that many times in Ontario , I don’t feel I’m in my own country , when you go in stores many working there aren’t friendly , don’t acknowledge you speak over the PA. Well, I have seen most of hatred comment towards International student. Meanwhile, it was government who allowed us to enter. I am not from India but hate for Indian people is real. Idk who should we blame. As being outsider, i believe we should be humble to this country and their people.\nPs: i came to Canada in September 2022, and i used to be surprised seeing people minding their own business. Trust me Canada is the land of scams not milk and honey where you come here earn pennies and pay in thousands then go in debt and depression and that’s if you find a decent job. No matter where you work and what you do, you are not going to be able to afford life here. Rent is extremely high and it’s everywhere around the nation not in a particular spot or city. Buying a house became a dream. People are living on top of eachother like pickles in houses or apartments due to high housing prices. And what make it worse are the wages. It is pathetic that the average income here is roughly 3,000 dollars where most of money is going to rent. The only people that are living high quality life here are people who are living on child benefits plus welfare and cash money. My recommendation is move out of the country ASAP before it is too late. It’s a trap..

It is horrible that we are seeing an increase in homelessness, drugs, and declone of heslthcare system. The rich don’t pay their fair share in taxes just loop hole tax invasion with charities. People go in debt for an education. People on single parent Disabikity or Welfsre incomes besides minimum wage are closer to the poverty line since the Inflationery hike’s incline to decline. Doctors and teachers don’t make enough to keep up with inflstion. There are family doctor shortsges. We have a heslthcare crisis but not like the Ststes, we have long wsiting hours for nurses and doctors, rent is too high and enpensive, petro might go back to $2 per litre like 2022 following the initiation of the Russo-Ukrainian war, housing is $20000 more expensive in Canada than the USA, immigrsnts and permanent residences are leaving, we almost had a housing bubble like 2007(USA), we spend too much in taxes, our social net isn’t working, we have low production compared to to the USA, we have a population pocket, we have increase rent cities, we have an incompetent PM, we have carbon taxes that cost more on utilities and petro with rebates thst only gives us Pennies or jnickled to the kids these days, and we have over spending in foreign conflicts like Ukraine when fuck Ukraine and Israel/Palestone they can fight their own shitty battles than having Fold War II.

Is there a smart they won’t come to Canada because even right now Canadians are on the street. It’s just not a good time. Canadians are good people it’s not their fault. And then no one‘s offering the immigrants jobs because there is no jobs but that’s not again the Canadians fault they can’t afford to put food on their own table. Canadians are hard-working and I know lotta immigrants are hard-working in regards to the students don’t come here maybe the United States will be best for you they offer lotta countries. I am Canadian and I feel like that the only way is to leave Canada and go for Europe. At least there I know that my work would help make my life better than Canada where I feel that no matter how much work is done, Canada will stay the same

Many of these places I go to require security clearance to get inside , and once you are in these places you are not getting any help. Rain, snow, blizzard. The work has to be done. If you damage anything your contract will be cancelled and they will most likely come after you. On the flip side, I make $720K a year. When I go back to my Kenya ??, I become a King. If you are to still go to Canada, for the love of god and your wallet dont go to Quebec\n\nIts actually one of the worst in terms of taxes.\n\nTo give yall an idea, I make 34 an hour where I work, and out of about 1.3k per week I get, I get... 800. A whopping 1/3 of my income is eaten by taxes, because we are the only province to have 2 taxes : provincial taxes and federal taxes.\n\nThe economy here is horrid.

I moved to Canada as a child with my parents 41 years ago. It isn't just inflation and cost of living that is the problem. It's the dramatically increasing racism and discrimination, even against people who have been living in this country longer than the racists discriminating against them. Seriously? This is not the Canada that I came to as a child, grew up in, or have lived and worked in for many decades. I made the mistake of working around the world for a short time and picking up an accent that wasn't even mine originally. I had a Canadian accent before finishing elementary school. My kids and grandchildren have Canadian accents and were Canadians from birth. But should they leave and return to the same crap??? Under the law, refugees are temporary migrants and usually nothing more. Most homeless Canadians today are veterans, elderly, disabled, mentally ill, poor, and professionals and trades people, yet Canada brings in countless professionals, claiming that their education and experience will get them into the professions that they are coming from. Canadian education is not the best and yet people with better educations and job experience are being forced to spend all their money to go back to university or college to get jobs that they rarely will be hired for. I understand that it's difficult but to complain about paying high taxes to help others, don't forget that others may feel the same way about having to pay taxes for immigrants from Africa. I have had relatives and acquaintances who moved to the USA. They had a visas to work in Maine in the sixties and seventies. They got drafted during the Vietnam era. One did not go back and they other did two years in the US army during the Vietnam war. They moved back to Canada, after he finished his 2 years, he moved back to Canada. The one who did not report for service to the army, moved to,Ontario, and the guy who served two years moved back for Canada, and his wife needs health care that they couldn't afford in the USA..

Not only are they entering illegally, many that are in the U.S. illegally or legal are just looking at there phones and not even attempting to assimilate and learn English. I have noticed that almost every foreign speaking person is just looking at their phones and listening to media in their own language. If I was seeing some watching English media or at least trying to learn the language it would at least be a step in the right direction, but they ignore everything in English! Social media has a stranglehold on American culture!! There are several Spanish speaking groups being brought in to work in retail and grocery stores and it's just the same thing, they don't know hardly a word of English. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I immigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 2022 and have since been living and working in Winnipeg. This country has offered me numerous opportunities, even though I do not hold high-ranking positions. My wife and I are able to save a bit of money for unforeseen expenses. Just when I started to feel settled and thought that things were going quite well, I encountered numerous videos claiming the opposite, particularly highlighting the scarcity of affordable housing. \n \nDespite the prevalence of such content, my personal experience differs. I pay $725 for housing with a salary of $2.3K, which I find to be a reasonable balance. Some might say I was fortunate, but affordable housing ranging from $800 to $1000 is readily available in Winnipeg, and this is just one city's example; there are many other cities across Canada. \nFrom my perspective, the issue of housing affordability is overstated and not solely attributable to the country's policies. Such scenarios can occur in any nation if half the population desires to reside within 4% of its land area (namely, Toronto and its vicinity), leading inevitably to soaring prices – that's simply economics. \n \nIt's not my place to dictate how Canadians should live, but it appears to me that the crux of the problem lies in the uneven distribution of the population. As the second-largest country globally, Canada can comfortably accommodate 40 million people or even significantly more. However, this necessitates a collective understanding that concentrating the population in a single city may not be the most prudent approach.

I was born in Canada to a Polish immigrant mother. My mothers family came to Canada to escape the tail end of communism and seek better opportunities. I’m 22, I have a degree from a good university and I’m now living with my mother working part time at a liquor store. I was told as a teenager as long as I got a degree I’d have a job and have enough to live on my own. I was lied to. I’m currently working on getting my dual Polish-Canadian citizenship and doing a certification to go teach English in Europe. I can’t have a good life here the way prices are and the stress being in this country brings. There’s homeless encampments everywhere, even in front of my city hall. There’s a couple homeless people who sit outside the store I work at and it’s a heavy reminder I’m one argument with my mother from sitting where they are. I am constantly worried I will become homeless.

Here are the ways I feel I you can improve:\n\nYou don't have to own a car, I think that a choice that isn't necessary, instead invest in good quality winter wears - might be expensive but it will be very worth it. A famous brand is the North face.\nAlso finding an area that matches one's pocket is crucial, never go with the bandwagon. Nigerians don't have to live close to you for you to be okay. Mingle and learn new cultures and ways after all you immigrated. Go to developing areas that won't be too far from work. I completely agree w this man. Ive worked my ass off for 30 yrs already & even w my private health insurance thru my FT job Its still gonna cost me between 12& 15 grand to get my teeth fixed. Its life threatening & caused by a bone disease that I have no control over but the Gov't wont help pay a damn cent. (Btw I drive 2hrs a day & sometimes sleep in my car overnight & shower at work cuz I cant afford the cost of gas to drive home every day.) \n@ 45 Ive been forced 2 deplete my retirement savings & move in w my Godparents cuz I can't afford rent anymore.\nI drive an 06 Honda Odyssey which is hangin by a thread & Im grateful AF for it.\nBoth my parents served in the military. A combined 30 yrs in the infantry. I did 7 yrs in Army Cadets & was going 2 join the army after high school but I was diagnosed w a bone disease & couldn't pass the health & fitness screening.\nMy point is that Im a hard working, tax paying, polite & damn good citizen. I take care of my neighbours. I come from a family where we were taught 2 be of service 2 my country BUT WTF HAS MY COUNTRY DONE FOR ME?\nThey let in millions of people who cant/dont/wont contribute a damn thing 2 this country & the gov't gives them special PRIVILEGES that CANADIAN CITIZENS will NEVER GET!!\nIt's infuriating & only fuels racism. It's not the fault of the refugees but its gotta stop. \nIts fucking bullsh*t!

There is no career progress and it is so expensive for everyone, they want you to work low level jobs, because a weird rite of passage like if speaking English was unique to Canada or the world is not trading with each other for the last 20 to 30 years . Complete stagnation in terms of economy, inflated house prices compared to similar markets like Texas, the country has been so reliant on natural resources that the job market is not competitive and an island. If you want to do trades go ahead if you want to work in finance, tech or anything white collar do not go to Canada. If hard working Canadians don't have money to afford groceries and are using their credit card for everything believe me as an immigrant you'll have less than that you'll be an economic slave.

About the chicken and egg situation. It's not just immigrants who have this problem. I was born in Canada, lived here my whole life and I have had difficulty getting work. Even after going to college and applying to several jobs in that field, it seems no one wants to hire you unless you know someone in that job or you have 2-3 years experience in that field already.
