We all have our destiny to experience and live out. Sometimes we think the decisions we make are in our control. After leaving Vietnam, I never would have expected the life I have lived so far. After living in LA for a very long time, I decided to move, and it was the perverbial question, where? Leave the States totally, return to Calgary, or else where. A former company was finishing building a new facility in Australia, which I thought would be ideal having been a manager there. In between I took a trip to Europe for the first time, which caused me to rethink my plans. Two years later I moved to Europe, hook, line and sinker, no job, no place to live, no nothing, just did it. I have no regrets after 30+ years living, working, enjoying my life here. It's not for everyone, but it was my destiny. I've lived on 4 continents, 7 countries and on an island.

I see lot of people are struggling and moving to Netherlands, Belgium and soon. Even with two income it's hard to survive in any EU countries. The main reason behind all this misery is lack of housing, tax, tax and more taxes. Netherland is also not a good at housing and taxes. European are not work hard becasue it will only result in more taxes and causes more misery. In EU majority of people choose to spent time with family and friends than earning more money. It is cultural difference between EU and rest of the world.\n\nImmigrants come to EU thinking of earning more fortune like Dubai or USA, so that they can send remittance back to home has just become a day dream. In reality these countries take half of your fortune in taxes and in return they give good water, clean air and almost peaceful life.

I agree with you leaving. I am a 3rd generation retired Canadian who used to be proud to be so. Now I am not, in fact I am embarrassed to say I am Canadian as it is nothing to be proud of. I think of how good things were in the 70's and 80's while I was young and now how bad things are today and it is truly depressing. Back then if you are willing to work, you could make a decent living, buy a car, a house and raise a family - today, good luck with that. I've lived in Canada since the late 1980's, starting in Quebec, then Ontario and since 2010 Alberta. I've seen the decline and really don't like where this has gone. However, there have always been ups and downs and the recent pandemic has caused problems for every country. I still like living here, but I love travel as well. So for now we're snowbirds, exploring different locations in South and Central America each winter. I also have ties to Germany, but so far life in Canada suits me more.
