Yes there are a lot of issues that needs to be addressed. However, its immature to blame every problem onto immigration. Most of us dont know enough about how things really works. Its not like if we stop immigration then all these problems would be fixed, in fact i think we need this population growth due to low birth rates and lack of labor etc. In my personal experience i see in real life where immigrants are working and contributing in all kinds of fields, such as construction, health care and elderly care … instead of pointing fingers, first educated ourselves on this topic, and then think about how we can make this work, i think that would be more beneficial for everyone.

Canada can fix this with real estate investors help. The problem is supply and demand. If there are more rental units and homes to buy, renters win. Investors like me want to see renters win. People are supposed to rent save up money and then buy their own homes.

I don't know what's worse, in Canada they request masters and doctorates to emigrate and work in cleaning. Lately the so welcoming society started blaming immigrants for their problems instead of their government and companies dedicated to speculate with housing and real state.

The problem of housing crisis is Canadian government let multibillion foreigners to come to Canada to control Canadian real estate . I have a crazy idea. Why not train your population in the skills. Then in turn boost your economy and become a real super power.

Borders exist for a reason. It’s not fair to citizens of ANY country to dump hoards of unknown, unvetted people onto us and our cities AND expect us to support, educate, provide healthcare and pay for them. People from poor countries think westerners and Europeans are all rich. In our societies we work extremely hard and sacrifice our entire lives to have a good future and healthcare if we need it. We pay a lot of tax to have safe cities and towns. When you dump thousands and millions of people into our countries we all sacrifice even more and cannot access housing, healthcare or social programs because they are overwhelmed helping illegals. That is not fair to citizens of any nation. The real difference would be teaching poorer war torn countries how to build fair societies. How to build an economy. How to develop a democracy. How to root out government corruption. How to be tolerant of other religions. How to take care of your own citizens!!

The real issue is Canada is letting in the trash other nations that they no longer want. The people coming into Canada are the people who cant make it in their own countries. What makes you think they will stand any chance here? We need to let in skilled workers in industries that have demand instead of letting random non working people looking for hand outs because hey cannot make it in their country. The when they do come here, they cannot come to Toronto or Vancouver because they simply cannot afford it. Go where you are needed and stand a chance, the country is vast and in need of people outside of the metros

People, i moved here many years ago.... If you are not in real need don't do it... Salaries were not low but thanks to inflation you cannot afford that much anymore, plus is not a friendly culture and not an eas to learn language ( i speak it since before I came but i see how the others struggle a lot).

I moved to Munich from Warsaw 2 years ago. Munich is nice, safe and clean, but also a bit boring. The wages are high, but so are the rents and groceries (not mentioning services). Soo in my field of work Im not saving more money than back home (lower wages but also lower rents). And a huuuge downside here is - I will never be able to afford to buy real estate here. Back in Poland that's still accessible (even though less and less..). So all in all I think I will be moving back in a couple of years to settle down back in Poland, on my own piece of land, in my own house. Ideally, my german employer will allow my to still work for them, remotely. But if that's not the case, then I will look elsewhere.\nOne more thing - If the german gov. would subsidize langueage lessons, I would totally take advantage of that.. and maybe stayed here longer.

Being Canadian used to mean being English (British) or French. Nowadays it means nothing. Only Quebec has some semblance of a real identity. Most heritage Canadians barely know or care about being of English origin.

When you save money for retirement, the govt takes your pension. When you try to save money from each paycheque, the inflationary prices of groceries/gas/utilities takes it away. If you need to go to a hospital or doctor visit, you have to wait months or can only settle for the most basic of services. If you try to own real estate, there's always some scheme to steal your money either by jackal tenants or the new capital gains tax. The whole persona of the Western world being the land of milk and honey is gone and has become a dark money-sucking debacle that only feeds the corrupt running the Federal reserves or World Banks. Unless you're a country like Ukraine or Israel, you get nothing.

This is crazy. I work with many Indian people and i can honestly say the majority are respectful, courteous, educated and very friendly. They're absolutely no threat to anyone. Was there ever any verification of this story or anything she said? The answer is no. Because if there was; many half-truths, discrepancies and misrepresentations would have been discovered in her story. Canada is set to take 1 million immigrants per year and has only a total of 40 million citizens with a housing crisis. Canada’s population surpassed 41 million in April, just 10 months after it hit 40 million in June 2023. Nothing of it is due to birthrates, it's only immigration that makes the country grow. There's real issues coming with this much immigration ( housing market, stagnant wages, assimiliation of newcomers).

And while there are certainly main contributors, one cannot simply ignore the area of supply and demand. Too many people looking for too few locations to live. It doesn't get more basic than that.\n\nThe PROBLEM is our economic growth numbers are DEPENDANT on immigration, and if we just cut immigration the numbers will plummet and foreign investment will tank. The problem is the poor countries have and had so many children and now there is no real life posibilities so they just look for opportunities to move to the West.\nThese poor countries still a lot of newborns and this problem needs to stoped now limmit even turist visits yet alone give out visas to stay !

Please, blame the govt. I don’t think citizens or immigrants are to blame. Finding stable work in Canada is a challenge these days even for permanent residents/new citizens. No guarantee of work even after acing an interview and building skills as needed. At this point I feel like immigrants are just tax paying scapegoats, who are used by the government and hated by local people. This is not real inclusiveness. Govt must give priority to their citizens and encourage immigration if there are real opportunities to offer. Everyone needs work and stability inorder to live a civilized and stable life. Calling loads and loads here to benefit the economy and politicians just be called third world trash isn’t fair.

The problem is not just the tenants. Part of the problem is creation of a speculative housing market where housing a basic human need is primarily constructed for stock market like trading speculation rather than providing shelter for people. If you already own a house or condo that you are already living in why should you be allowed to personally buy multiple housing properties. My opinion is that if you are not a real estate developer or the government you should be limited to owning only one extra real estate property with the only extra exception being a recreational cottage
