A rental property isn’t a GIC itts not guaranteed money it’s a investment and some investments go down. But we have a serious problem where someone can live for more then a couple months with out paying rent

I've never been conservative or anti-immigration, but the situation is getting out of control. Canada has always been a country of immigrants, but in my country, Poland, that hasn't traditionally been the case. In recent years, the demographic landscape has changed significantly, and it's not just about our Ukrainian neighbors—over a million have arrived since the war. We're also seeing an influx of people from developing countries, many of whom come under false pretenses, enroll in private universities, or attempt to cross our borders illegally to reach Germany. Right now, we're at a loss, and the most frustrating part is that while we need skilled immigrants, we're instead getting unskilled individuals who don't even make an effort to learn the language. This isn't sustainable.

Solving the housing crisis by stacking the rules against landlords isn't the smartest move for this province. This is why some landlords quit and sell their rentals which likely does not help with the housing crisis. This is whst is called a negative feed back loop. It makes the situation worse.

I'm sorry, but if a tennant hasnt paid in 3 months, landlords should be allowed to evict and remove the persons belongings from their property. The fact that this isn't considered theft blows my mind.

Canada isn't a nation of immigrants at all. Canadians are the descendants of immigrants the same as everyone else on the planet, including the indigenous. That is, unless your family has never left the place where humans first evolved.\n\nUnlike modern immigrants, the first white settlers in north America did not sail into an established society with power stations, health care, water and power distribution networks etc., to get the benefit of other people's hard work and investment. They started from scratch.

I'm an immigrant. Do you guys know how much I paid for my wife's college? 40k dollars. Do you guys know how much Imy wife and I pay in taxes? Almost 3k a month to the government. When the reality is there's more than enough to go around - enough resources for citizens, legal residents and additional immigrant influx - new faces are welcomed by all. \n\nWhen the _perception_ is that there's enough to go around but the reality doesn't reflect this, mostly conservative and certain liberal types start raising question, doubts and concerns. \n\nWhen the reality is that resources and infrastructure are strained, along with unrestrained ever rising COL, everyone regardless of political alignment starts raising questions doubts and concerns regarding the feasibility of such policies. \n\nIt isn't necessarily against those immigrating as long as they're earnest but rather, having to do with budgets and budget cut allocations seemingly favoring others when the priority is usually one's own initially. \n\nTl;dr : It's money. No other way to slice it when examined analytically. The economy, national debt, budget and budget cut allocations.

Why isn't anyone talking about the money these immigrants brought in paying 3 times more than locals for tuition , working minimum wage jobs that profited Canadian business owners ?

A lot of the sentiment in citizens complaint you left out is abuse that is common knowledge among common folk of abuses of foreign worker programs, and accepting tons of immigrants that have no marketable skills. Also for this year still aiming for high immigration targets when the jobs data shows the private sector isn't hiring for full time jobs and unemployment is rising, meaning by far we are accepting people when our citizens don't even have any job opportunities themselves if they find themselves unemployed.

Tell us again how this isn't an invasion!

The Middle East problems aren't Europe's problem. It isn't Europe's Fault that people are homeless in war-torn countries. I wish all countries had the same immigration policy as Poland.

First question I have is why their true destination is Germany? Why isn't it UAE or Qatar or Saudi Arabia or Bahrain or Kuwait? Being Muslims they will surely be easily assimilated in those countries. Why take a more dangerous and longer route to Europe?

Problem isn’t immigration it’s who we immigrate. We don’t need all university students, we need people who come from similar countries who can use their hands and can build things and have clean backgrounds.

A country goes through ups and downs all the time. We are in a bad place, but scapegoating immigrants isn't the solution. Isn't everyone an immigrant in Canada??

I'm Canadian. Canada isn't the same anymore. Everyone is basically broke right now, no onr can find work, and if you can, you still won't be making enough to keep up with inflation. Mortages and rent have doubled, food prices are robbing us, and we are taxed significantly only for our tax dollars to be wasted. \n\nAnother issue is Crime. \nCrime has gone up, Especially in the past few years. Not only car thefts and scams, but violent crime too. Every week, an international student, or immigrant is charged with the murder of someone in my city. \n\nMy biggest issue is that they can't find drive very well either.\n\nI'm not racist. Its important to have an open mind and be accepting towards other cultures. However, our country has fallen. I mostly blame Trudeau, his government is very incompetent. He has ruined our country

This is SUCH a puff piece completely one sided that dismisses legitimate concerns as the only reason being xenophobic......Canada has always welcomed people but it was done at a lot slower pace where people had a chance to assimilate and build a life. You can't add over a million people a year with different cultures and pretend it's going to be ok. Ignoring the massive housing crisis, it's a culture crisis. A lot of the people coming do not share Canadian values, period. Canadians are noticing a massive change in the country they love seemingly overnight. You go out in any city and you barely see white people anymore. It's jarring. It was made into an amazing country by certain people and now it seems new immigrants are treated better than citizens. Everyone is in favor of immigration done the right way, but that isn't what's happening and natural born Canadians have every right to be upset that the country is being ruined in a way they don't want.

Dumping Trudeau and Labor isn't the sole solution to the problem, but is going to be a necessary first step.

Gee idk, maybe it's because immigration has spiked by 400% in the last 5 years and it's gotten so unregulated that we now have convicted terrorists slipping through the cracks? Maybe people should start looking at the military industrial complex Eisenhower mentioned at the end of his presidency. Causing wars all over the world and then everyone wants to come to the west. Maybe stop wars in other countries so they can develop. Also have countries invest in their own education systems so they don’t have to come to the west and change the concept that western countries is where you can make it. Also, those who do come have to integrate, however, if you come from a country where there isn’t plurality and coming to a democratic society, you’re eventually going to have problems.

As an immigrant to Canada myself, I have to state the obvious, the problem isn't just about immigration as it is about the total lack of discernment. Unlike what this government seems to believe, not all cultures are the same. Canada can and should give preference to immigrants from other democratic countries. When you import the third world, you import its problems. It's commendable to try to save everybody, but your existing citizens have to come first. Canada can't save the third world by becoming a part of it...

I'm an immigrant to Canada. I've been here for 35 years (came here when I was 6). The current immigration/migration/ayslum seeker rates have gone completely insane. It isn't racist to think it's gone overboard. I went to very very multicultural schools. I grew up in Toronto and have lived downtown for 20 years now. I love our multiculturalism but there are limits to immigration if there simply isn't an infrastructure to support countless hundreds of thousands of people trying to move into the city each year. It's not sustainable at all. The roads aren't getting bigger, the housing zoning isn't getting easier, new hospitals aren't being built. You cannot try and cram 4 million people in a city built for like 2 million people. People moving to Canada simply do not realize just how absurdly expensive this place has become. What's the better alternative being poor in India or being poor in Canada? Because unless you are making 100k a year you are going to basically be poor in Toronto.\n\nThe big big difference as someone who has lived downtown Toronto for 20 years is now the homeless are very multicultural. 10 years ago it wasn't like that as much. Now people from every race and every background are at risk of homelessness. It's a rate race, it's a very competitive city for housing and jobs and as soon as you aren't in making $$$$$ you will fall behind.
