Canada has long been oversold. My parents emigrated to Toronto in the mid-50s but returned to the UK in 1970. Back in Britain, they were quickly able to enjoy a much higher standard of living than they could in Canada.

Why dont they go to a muslim country if they want sharia law, there are plenty of muslim countries that they could go to, but of course they do not have a decent benefit system. It's bizzare how people think of housing as a right like water. Have they ever done the work of building a house? Could they? It's quite the ask of other people to call it your right.

I am an immigrant myself and could not agree more with it. The government is bringing in people blindly at the cost of jacking up prices to unbelievable levels for shelter, food and so on. Jobs are taken away from locals and has been handed over to new immigrants, our students are struggling to find jobs. Crime is on the rise . It almost seems like the they gave up the immigration vetting system and are bringing in people without due delegence. This is NOT the Canada I came to more than a decade ago. It has changed and continues to change for worse unfortunately. My vote is never going to a liberal ever again. They failed this country big time

What are all these immigrants expected to work at? Where are the new steel mills and coal mines and auto plants employing hundreds of thousands of people? Oh wait there arent any. There isnt a new industrial revolution around the corner, if anything AI could mean there might be less jobs then ever. It is a shitshow on so many levels

As a former Liberal Party of Canada member they knowingly did this because of the overwhelming influence of property developers and landlords on the party as well as openly discussing changing the demographics of the country to insure they could never lose any future elections. \n\nIs this also why they push Medical Assistance in Dying against older Canadians who can no longer afford the cost of living and are more likely to vote Conservative?

Large scale rorting of the visa system by international students has been occurring for over a decade.

Why don't the president of Mexico stop this??? I'll tell you why, or what Mexicans man told me. He said, Biden ask him to stop these people from coming to Mexico then coming here. He said he could, but would not until Americans agreed to give each Latin country in the world 2 million dollars every year or every year. He said if not he was going to let them flood America until they take it. He goes back and forth from Mexico to America. I don't know how true this, but this is what he told me. Stem the flow and our government could do that but they won't. They want everyone to fight and Canadians don't want to fight, we want to live, just like the immigrants. This isn't fair to either side and it's the federal government's fault its their responsibility.

I live in BC, have lived in my community and owned a home here for 47 years. At my local Walmart I rarely hear English spoken, even by employees. One time, the cashier held up an item to the white woman in front of me, and asked her in broken English, “what is this called” to which she replied “celery” and he asks “how to spell?” so he could key it in. He did that with several items. While serving me, another Walmart employee comes over and speaks to him NOT in English, for 3 min, while I’m waiting to be served. I calmly said “excuse me, this is Canada and we speak English in Canada.” This happens all the time. Very annoying.

Gee, could it be because Canadians have been exposed to unrestrained immigration too quickly for the immigrants to assimilate? Because of the pressure on public services? Because a lot of the immigrants don't share the same cultural values? When you live and work in a little cultural bubble you won't understand any of this.

Canada's system is at fault too. Too much regulations and taxes to create new residential zones, buildings and houses. You could easily approve pre-manufactured standard houses (3d printed houses, container houses, etc) that could be mounted in a few days and create whole new neighborhoods in a few months. That technology is already here for decades. That would bring the housing prices down. But of course, landlords and realters would hate that.

They say imigration of wealthly individuals curved a recession. First off it was like 0.2 an 0.1 in two quarters so dont act like it wasnt that bad. The woman talking about public housing programs has no idea whats going on. There are a million various immigrants a year coming in through all the various programs. There is no public housing program that could handle that. a decade of output from a housing program wouldn't handle a single year of this immigration. The private sector building housing is the only way to proceed, but immigration is too high to ever catch up.

I can't help but think that the phrase 'a country of immigrants' is just a sneaky way of saying 'a country of colonialism'. I dont know that much accountability or reconciliation has happened in Canada over the last 300 years. It began with governments and corporations doing whatever they wanted and could do to make money and extract resources off of this land (regardless of whom it affected), and continues to be just that. The increase of immigrants is largely, as far as I know, being used to a) bring in more revenue and economic stimulus (which is more and more ending up in the hands of a few very wealthy families) and b) fuel the labour force of large corporations that would rather soak the profits up themselves, hire low-wage PR or temporary foreign worker labour, than pay Canadian residents properly to work those jobs. I love immigrants, have many 1st gen immigrants friends, and think they do bring a lot to Canada. We all do, as we were all immigrants at some point. At the same time, the immigration system is very complicit in looking at immigration as a resource in aiding those rich families/ corporations in colonialism, and you could argue that this overreliance is abuse of the immigration system. Certainly, we have seen this with colleges. This feels especially true over the last several years with huge jumps in immigration numbers with growing inequality for long term residents. So the result is a very quickly changing world that is not helping many Canadians feel more secure about their future, which is a recipe for unrest. Am I wrong? Genuinely I am looking to have an open discussion here!

Why? Because immigration is unchecked and unbalanced. If you want a prosperous multicultural society everyone has to be on board with that and it has to be fair for everyone. In the West that balance is not there. If you think for one moment you could go to an Asian or Arabic country and have a 'Canada Town' or a 'Little Britain' you are delusional.\n\nYears ago, my father who was an army officer went to Oman to help train their soldiers. On arrival he was given a list 5 A4 pages long of things he COULD NOT DO in that country. He didn't complain and abided by that. One Westerner broke one of the rules accidentally and literally had to leave the country taking nothing with him. Why is ok to enforce culture one way, but not the other? That's your problem. My wife and I used to visit the US and found it enjoyable. Since Trump the attitude has changed and we no longer visit. It used to be friendly and good food with interesting places to visit. New Orleans, Sedona AZ for example. We could never consider moving to the US due to the medical system and gun culture which are black holes that destroy life. Most other civilized countries have health care and gun control.
