There's many reasons not to like Trudeau up here in Canada, many of which are the reason he'll (rightfully) no longer be the PM next week. As a conservative I hated him for SNC-Lavalin (among other scandals), and the fact that his inexperience with the economy Harper left him is probably part of why this trade war is going to hurt more than it could have, and the fact that he's often been kind of a phony more concerned with looking and sounding good for the press cameras. Not this time. Nothing phony here; I've got to give credit to him for capturing the national mood pretty much perfectly with this speech. Good on him. \n\nAnd congratulations as well to Donald for pretty much handing the Liberals their best shot at a fourth term, too. What an absolute idiot. Normally I'd turn my nose up at having to vote Liberal, but I am so, so sick of the brand of empty populism Trump stands for that it looks like that's what I'm gonna be doing come election time.

Putin wants democracy to suffer and be weakened everywhere in the world. . his bootlicker in the presidency judges loyalty as a primary value, and knows full well how Russia helped him get elected the first time and then again. combine that with a love for dictators, and I fear America will never have another free and fair election.

As a South African, I want to say that this trade war, as well as the hostile approach of Trump towards Canada, is devastating. If one were not experiencing it directly, it would be almost impossible to believe. This is such a remarkable speech that it will go down in history as one of the truly great speeches in times of crisis. It is entirely correct to address the American and Canadian peoples directly, as the Prime Minister has done. They are both clear victims of this madness, Americans misled, and Canadians the target, of this senseless trade war. If one reads History, there is another dimension to this, and I hate to say it. Canadians have to prepare themselves for worse. These types of antics by the aggressor usually involve, finger pointing, contrived border incidents, plausibly deniable incursions and other actions, by the aggressor, which one can find if the preludes to the WW1 and WW2 are studied. I am not sure if you have porcupines in Canada, but you need to rapidly become one.

I am a true Patriot of Canada, but we have been living on boral time when it comes to our defense systems, including the borders. And we have depended on the U S far too long, and for that I blame the Canadian government. The Trudeau/liberals said they were going to fix it well here we are unprepared now here we are 10 years later. We need an election right now. Let me explain the trading relationship briefly that occurs between Canada and the US for context. \n \nCanada Has a LOT of natural resources, more than our domestic manufacturing base needs (Uranium fuel, Lumber/paper products, Steel and other metals, Fertilizer for farms...etc). Therefore we sell those raw materials to the states where they are manufactured into goods, which we then buy back. a LOT of American service companies like tech, media (And yes, even banks)...etc also operates in Canada as well. (For the auto sector the parts flip back and forth across the border like 8 times) \n \nThis relationship alone has the American economy see a large trade surplus with Canada, however there is another element to it: Energy. \n \nCanada is also home to a LARGE amount of really cheap renewable hydro power in the east, and a LOT of oil in the west, due to a lack of infrastructure we really can only sell that oil to the states and therefore it is done at a discount. America refines this cheap oil into gas and is a large part of the reason why American gas is so cheap. They use this energy to power the same factories mentioned above. (Oh and also the NE states import a lot of that clean hydro electricity for the same reasons) \n \nThe US Buys SO MUCH of that cheap energy from us to power your industrial base, that it swings the numbers on the trade balance into a small deficit for the USA. (41 billion out of a TRILLION dollars total trade, or about -4.1% of total trade so literally a pretty small deficit) It also swing back and forth every year so \n \nThen comes Trump. He wants Canada as a 51st state and own the entire continent, therefore he manufactures an excurse that our border is leaky and that migrants and fentanyl are flowing over. (In actual case migrants and the flow of Fent is about 1% the amount that's crossing at the Mexico border but he needs an excuse) \n \nHe therefore puts 25% tariffs on us. Those tariffs will hit Canada harder than the 2008 financial crisis just for scale. \n \nOh and also for the most part American Refineries literally cant process any other oil than ours or Venezuela's because its thicker so tariffs on our oil will also really increase the priced of energy in the states by a huge amount just for the LOLs. As we've seen during the post covid recovery, since gas is priced in to the supply chain at every step (Manufacturing, transportation...etc), any increase at the pump will snowball into higher costs for everything at the store, on top of the extra cost of the tariffs on consumers. (Since every step will need to add it into their markup.)

People in Canada just have to do what they have to do. But there are ways to carry on without 100% of the US business and hospitality. We never had to look far for things as American companies had offered to deal with Canada of course to their profit as well. So now we have to look around for new customers, start new ventures. It doesn't have to be this way. Things were great for both of us the way it was. And it can be that way again once Trump is gone. This will be temporary. Trump is not forever. As for the booing seen at most recent sports events in Canada, that is directed at the President, not the average American. I myself would never boo a national anthem, an anthem that millions have sacrificed to protect and defend. But I understand the pain and anger that is coming from my country. We have always been allies, friends, and to most even family. I do hope that in the future our relationship can heal and move forward but the current actions being taken by the American admistration are horrendus and upsetting to most of the world outside of the US. Well, POTUS Trump is going to have to have a sit down with his cabinet in regards to Article II, Section 2, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution. I am talking about declaring MARTIAL LAW in New York. tyler i don't think u realize how bad the usa education system really is. i'm canadian but have lost count of the number of usa teachers who have complained about how bad they are held back from teaching kids properly, how kids can't be failed or held back, how kids graduating gr 12 can't read or write past gr 6 level. in fact recently there was a statistic put out that something like 60% of ALL americans cant read or write past gr 6. considering all your universities that is terrifying. not to mention with gun violence, straight up violence among kids and at teachers, the disrespect and the severe lack of good parenting, kids are not being educated at all. u yourself have done videos on where someone interviews americans and asked them questions about canada and they haven't got a clue. not one clue. yet canadian kids are regularly taught all about their american neighbours. are kids know more about america then american kids do and thats shameful. u need to do some research on this because unless u live in a rich gated elite community and go to private school the public education system in the usa is very dismal and woefully inadequate. \nalso he's right about politics. here we can discuss it rationally and then move on to other topics. in the states ppl are shooting ppl over differences in politics. beating ppl up trashing their cars and property etc. and many police are definitely not presenting themselves with professionalism tons of racism going on. and so many police because everyone is armed. here in canada we are not allowed handguns and pretty much ppl only have hunting rifles. it takes a lot of work and clearance not to mention time and money to take the necessary classes and get the necessary permits to even own a hunting rifle. in the usa show a drivers license and wait 10 days u have a handgun no matter how mental u are. therefore u need way more police than here in canada. i think u have a well to do upbringing so u have not and do not see the true picture of the america u live in. \nalso i have talked to many american friends who had insurance and still cost them about $5000 per birth of a child. with good insurance and working full time. so thats about average. here in canada u pay nothing except maybe parking for hubby while he visits.

Well maybe it's time for America to use the same rule Poland, and Korea use. And that is cross that line if you dare but do know when you do you're going to be greeted with a lot of fire power. If they act like that on the otherside towards officers how do you expect they going to act once here the law don't mean ? to these people and they show it.
