In case anyone is wondering why so many Indians are trying to flee Canada here it is. Under Trudeau and the liberal government Canada was basically giving a free pass to anyone who wants to come to Canada through colleges and universities, if you get into a Canadian school, you can get a study permit (which also allows you to work for 20h a week). Additionally after the schooling you are given a guaranteed work permit for the same duration as the schooling (if you went to school 2 years you get a 2 year permit, 4 years you get a 4 year permit, ect.) A Canada and immigration agencies (for some reason) basically advertised this to India as a guaranteed way to get permanent residence in Canada. Canadians hated the massive flood of people coming into Canada (about a million a year at its peak, which for a smaller country like canada is equivalent to 10 million people coming into the USA every year). This is really unpopular with voters of course (in part because of the housing, food, and low skill work shortages it created), and the next Canadian election is this year. So the conservative government has vowed to massivly decrease the number of immigrants coming into Canada and the Liberal government knowing that this can be used against them in the next election is decreasing the amount of PR cards they are given (like a Canadian green card) as well as the people they are letting in in total. Now as the (mostly Indian) immigrants work permits expire and they will soon be kicked out of the country or no longer legally be allowed to work, they are fleeing to NYC to try to take advantage of the sanctuary city (something that does not exist in Canada).

People who came to the USA unlawfully will be deported. She followed the law and entered the country legally and is now an American citizen.

I sincerely don't understand why people have an issue with people who came here illegally getting deported. It's not at all racially motivated or discrimination. Whether they are serious criminals or just entered illegally - it is not right for them to be here, or be provided services paid for by tax paying Americans. As an educated American citizen, If I want to move to UK or European countries I have to jump through many hoops, prove I have my own money to support myself, and possibly meet a language requirement. Why is it that we just accommodate anyone who wants entry to USA? It baffles me. I have friends all upset about deportations and it's ridiculous. I can't understand why we bother to have any laws if we don't enforce them? I have 2 family members who immigrated here LEGALLY. That's the only way it should be allowed and we should up the requirements to gain entry as well.

This is really sad becuase life after deportations is tough for somebody who was raised in USA. I was taken to the U.S. as a baby and grew up there, but at 19, I was sent back to Mexico—a country I had no memory of, no connections in, and barely spoke the language. My entire family had migrated when I was little, so I was left to figure everything out on my own.\n\nComing back felt like being thrown into an unfamiliar world. Hi everyone, I'm just going to weigh in some experience here. These people have given up on their government to fix things. They had it good before when Venezuela was wealthy not so long ago. They want that back. Who wouldn't. They want a chance at a better life . They have in most cases already sold all possessions for traveling money and bribes or security.
