I travelled a bit in New York state (upstate, near to the border), into Pennsylvania and the biggest difference I've found is the sheer level of dust/dirt on everything and how it looks like you've stepped about 20 years back in time if you are not near a major city centre. The datedness being present even at major border crossings. I recently drove from Niagara Falls, ON to Niagara Falls, NY and the difference was STAGGERING.

Ok, so I live near a border crossing so I’ve been over to shop on many occasions. (Never lived there though.) Here’s an example of a time I was over there, waiting in line at customer service at a store. There was a man in front of me. I patiently waited for him to finish and then went to step forward in his place. A woman behind me basically pushed me out of the way, literally cut me, and then started interacting with the employee like it was an everyday normal thing to do! I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. Manners are something you learn as a child. I had no idea how I’m inconsiderate and rude some people could be. (I have many other examples but of course when I see something like that, I really notice it.)\nNever mind the lack of respect for human life when you’re trying to drive on a Freeway with some. That’s actually terrifying.

I am Canadian, my husband is American. I moved to the USA 11 years ago. I live in a liberal state (by American standards) with little violence (by American standards). I like where we live and enjoy most of the people that I interact with. I would move back to Canada in a heartbeat. I must confess that I felt like I stepped back in time 20 years when I moved here - labor standards in the US are so behind the rest of the world (maternity leave, paid time off, job protections, etc). To a Canadian, US culture feels accepting of racism, violence, us vs them mentalities, gun culture, religious and political fanaticism. I still can’t get over how “normal” Americans think their healthcare system is…. most other countries think it is absolutely nuts! I have good insurance, but if I ever develop a serious illness….I will move back to Canada where I can attempt to keep my health AND still have a house to live in. On the surface, Americans and Canadians look alike - but I still feel the cultural differences every day. I’m sure that America feels safe and wonderful to Americans who grew up here - but it can be difficult for people who grew up with different values to agree that these things make America “great”.

Experience in canda was very real, but ur husband did very bold step to come back to india, no dought struggle n hard work part of life, u find same thing evry where in forign countries, I was there same time when u were there, one thing I observe there quality of life n dicipline is very good.

In my opinion if you move to Canada without taking the proper steps and expect everything to work out for you then you are very naive and cannot complain. First off a lot of Kenyans are applying for visitor visas instead of work visas which are harder to get and thinking once they are in Canada they can look for work. You are not allowed to work on a visitor visa and most employers will not even consider your applications if you do not have either a work permit, refugee status, or permanent residency/ citizenship. Work experience is also very important here and many employers will not consider someone even with canadian education that has no experience. Another thing is Canadian benefits such as subsidized health care etc is only available to people that are on long term work permits with no conditions, refugees, and permanent residency holders and government housing is only open to refugees and permanent residency holders/ citizens. So in short if you move there without a plan, the correct papers, and the willingness to work even lower income jobs until you get Canadian work experience and expect the government to help you just because you landed then you are sorely mistaken and will very easily end up on the streets. Another thing is just because you are granted refugee status does not guarantee you a home as we have seen, the government housing waitlist is very long and even Canadian citizens that cannot afford their rent end up on the streets because there are too many people applying for housing. So please do not think just because you were allowed to stay as a refugee life will be sweet. \nHowever if you do your research and take the right steps so you are fully prepared, put in the time and effort even though things may not be happening immediately then you can have a success story.

I currently reside in the USA, and I can confidently say that moving here has been the best decision I ever made. I managed to achieve in less than 5 years what might have taken me 15 years in Kenya. My perspective on living outside of Kenya has shifted significantly, and I believe it's time for us Africans to reconsider our perceptions. \n \nIt's worth noting that the requirements for moving to different countries can vary significantly. For instance, a Canadian government website has explicitly stated that you typically need to be a professional in your career to work in Canada, or else it might prove to be quite challenging. \n \nBefore you decide to make such a move, I strongly recommend conducting thorough research and understanding the specific requirements and opportunities in your chosen destination. Hello Dear; My fellow Kenyans do research and read a lot about the Laws and policies of that country before you make a step or move; Outside here; No short cart I am in one country in Europe I did my application for self-employment/ work permit/residence permit\nThen I was told to wait for 7 months - to 1 year for my application to be terminated not in Kenyan but in this county I am currently; After waiting for 1 year, I received an email from the embassy that my application was approved to apply again for a VISA to come and collect my ID = Now am legally in Europe I can move anywhere without fear and also can do any business in Schengen Area, I can go to Kenya anytime I want and come back anytime I want, This country is very rich and productive, peaceful, Clean, life affordable government regulates everything, the population is 8.9+, and the services are top class and are among the top in Europe map, however, you shall never here them shouting. Is about being wise and doing due diligence.. as well as calculating and taking your time. Good things don't come when you rush.

I guess because Toronto is so huge and because I stayed in the main touristy areas I only noticed a few homeless people during my trip. They were more noticeable to me in Calgary in the spring. But the worst I've seen is Portland, Oregon and Seattle, WA and in 2021 Washington DC was pretty bad off...though the encampments I saw then had been cleared out by DC when I returned in 2023.\n\nI really really enjoyed my stay in Toronto over Labor Day weekend, my first time ever to visit. But just looking around me I got the same sense I did in NYC...it's a beautiful place to visit but living here would be ungodly expensive. The luxury apartments across the street from my hotel seemed to have rather low occupancy, from what I could see from my hotel room window at night. A lot of rental real-estate are speculative investments and any thought of addressing housing needs, keeping occupancy rates high, etc. are purely secondary concerns...zombie buildings with unaffordable rents that remain sparsely occupied while the need(s) are so dire is morally offensive and government should step in with rent controls and occupancy requirements and tax those owners more heavily who have occupancy below a minimum threshold. The increase in crime is a completely expected outcome of economic desperation. The US answer is usually more police & harsher penalties but I hope Canada is more rational and humane in addressing these societal ills.

The last time I drove down Young St, I was stopped in traffic waiting for it to move, when a homeless man stepped out from the side of a building and started peeing on the sidewalk, right in front of people who were walking by. Of course they side stepped him, some gave him a dirty look, others just didn't care and continued walking around him. Toronto is fast becoming a dirty, violent city.

At 65, I have managed to visit 35 of the US states. Each time I returned to Canada, I got down on my hands & knees to kiss the ground of this country. I felt instant stress relief as soon as I did return safely. These days, I never want to step foot there again. To make life more interesting, I have a brother in Chicago. There’s an oxymoron. He is a trucker that likes Nascar, has no children of his own & married a lovely American girl who already had children (now grown). He sees the variations between counties - he stays for the $$. He comes home for huge doses of Canada & family.

That’s a hard no. Not even maybe. Having travelled to the US many times, I always felt like I was stepping back into the 1960’s. They have fallen so far behind, they think they’re in front. Culturally, Canada is much more similar to Europe than our geographically closest neighbour. Several of my friends have lived in the US, but all moved back because they felt their children were not being educated to a standard they would have been in Canada.

The french hospitals in Canada such as Hôpital Montfort here in Ottawa Ontario treats people based on severity. Not first come first served. When i had my surgery i was taken in right away because i had a serious guts infection that would've killed me without the surgery. But when my mom stepped on a nail and had a surgery to get it removed, it took 2 months because its simply not as severe as my case was. Sure its painful, but a nail in the foot wont kill you. Plus it wasn't infected. Montfort also has a wait time of like 24 hours or so but thats just the maximum wait time, usually wont be that long. In my experience you divide the wait time by 3 or 4 and thats how long it'll take. if you need to wauit months that because what you have is not setious and they scheduled a meeting for you at a specific date.

I will say I have been lucky in Calgary (moved to Alberta in 2011; became perm res in 2018) with my healthcare. I have a great liver specialist and family doctor as well as a backup. I just fell and cut the back of my head Monday (2 staples but nicely done; I do not feel any pain). I know that is not common for people. I think some of it is timing based on the comments. It will only get better if we quit USing it (i.e. politicizing it). As an ex-pat watching that dumpster fire, moving to Canada in 2010 (first year in YVR) was the right step for me (however, that said, being that I am plain white looking male, I know that made it so easy at least until I applied for Perm Res. Yes and if these people truly believed in God and Jesus they wouldn't run from their countries but actually stay on the ground and stand strong in their faith that God and Jesus are going to help them persevere through all this. As a fully disabled American citizen with a child that doesn't even get $1,000 a month and there's no available housing at all where I live no waiting list to go on people on SSI disability don't get any extra housing help we're not offered separate housing are put on separate lists and low-income Able Body people or the migrants jumping the Border but I was born and raised here paid taxes and worked until my body literally couldn't anymore but I don't hear anybody bitching and screaming and crying about the fact that my son and I would be on the streets if it hadn't been for one of my family members stepping up and giving his housing after a lifetime restraining order issued during my pregnancy on my son's biological do do with domestic abuse situation. I'm also US citizen that spent time in the Wards in Houston and projects and other cities and if you don't think that we don't have the same gun violence drug trafficking human trafficking gangs take it over cartels taking over neighborhoods and communities than you're freaking lying to yourself and everybody else. The same s*** that's taken over these countries is taking over the inner cities have been for decades and these are the same communities that most of these people will end up in. Send them back. I came to canada in 2017 as an international student, paid shit tons of money for housing, tuition fees. Worked full time after graduation,yet my immigration process is taking long. Evey step I took went through proper screening, and yet it's taking forever. Send them back. At this point theres no gurantee for people like me to get permanent residence over here. With all the back logs etc. So why should they be granted status, while my work permit expires in 6 months and immigration officers wont bother to answer my phone calls for extension. I have paid my taxes, I have obeyed the law. I'm a law abiding citizen. At this point, I'm even thinking of going back. This country wants new talents and more people to add to their workforce. But if they treat people like me like this. Then we might as well go back.

I’ve watched the video and I’ve read many comments. My message it’s to immigrants, Canadians & everyone. Just be some patient to read for you to think reasonable after this. I’m sure you’ll start to be reasonable regarding Canada. I had a good life good job & a nice home in Ukraine. Due to the barbarian russian invasion my family & I fled the horrific situation in Kharkiv city. I was driving a mini bus of 4 families! Most are children. We’ve arrived to Europe. Crossing many countries (Poland, Czechia & Austria) we’ve arrived to the country leading the EU. In Poland & Czechia, we’re treat very good by the people. In Austria we got hardly a payed hotel where children could get a rest!!! We still didn’t understand why they don’t want to give us rooms despite we’re paying for our staying!!! In Germany, I believe that the government did its best. But the number of comers is huge! Of course many they got disappointed as happened with me! But I still understand and believe that really the government & people did theirs best. So fast I got a job! The social connection helped to introduce me to the company! But i was not hired, I still to express myself & my qualifications. The manager was understanding, so he accepted to communicate in English and to offer me the job in case if I am successful doing the job during the first week at the site. I had to change the machines menu into English. So the manager was very satisfied with my job and I got that job. The rent! You’ll get it only if you receive the blessing of each member of the county and a very strong social connections! The doctors! To make just a blood work for my son it took 45 days of waiting! To get the doctor appointment, you need that a German guy call and get you the appointment! Because when my wife called, the secretary said: we don’t speak English! But when my wife went for her visit she figured out they’re speaking English better than her!!! My son has an issue of hyperactivity, so they refused to accept him at school more than 3 hours a day! And he was excluded from the birthday parties of his colleagues aswell other events! Other Ukrainian children, they were just attending classes! Just a show! No body cares how help their integration! About, the taxes! The half of my income was going to the government! The money back?! Only 200 euros/ month for my kid. And nothing else. Nothing! To get a neurologist appointment for my son it was necessary to wait 3 months! Prices?! Everything expensive! Technology?! Not better than Canada at all. Bureaucracy, Canada is much less. Banking system, Canada much better. Where in Germany?! The best province in Germany “Munich”. Where people stoped long ago dreaming to purchase a home. Guys, Canada doesn’t through broken people as we were in camps! Where nothing is human there! Canada doesn’t enter you in cercle of hell bureaucracy just to get your kid into school! And if he needs a support he get it right away without any background that he’s not our!!! I got a good job in Canada; so fast. Without any social connections because simply I do not have any. I rent an apartment for my family, without to proof to the landlord that I’m the best guy in the world with a witnessed county about that!!! I want you to be sure, that I am not the lonely case. Just ask Ukrainians stied in Europe for a while before they move recently. Just ask them. I am not saying it’s a paradise or cons don’t exist. Just paradise doesn’t exist! And cons are everywhere. Just I want you to be fair about Canada. Please, be reasonable! The cons in Canada are not catastrophic, and it’s not difficult to fix them. It may take some time, but not difficult. Believe me it’s not about only Canada. The whole world is going a step back! I wish that my experience, helps to understand appropriately.

Oh this is how every Indian official gov workers behaves, at least 90% of them. While we don't know the full version here, I'll share mine.\nI've waited for hour outside the entrance door along with others where we don't have waiting chairs so had to sit on steps where people pass by even though we all came at the right time that was written on our papers. Then I had to wait about 3 more hours for my appointment chance and then they checked my docs and decided that I don't have two particular doc which isn't even that important these days, but he didn't say that at once, we got first doc and then he said I need another doc. so I had to wait for 3 more hours to get mine as (we had to go to school and get that doc) while all other people like those grandparents, job applicants and farmers got their passports and visas. *sighing*\nI still remember the attitude of that officer, It's like he was just there and I was just waiting his time, and he was just reminding me that his work time was about to be done and that he needs to go. \nI don't understand how the gov offices works, we have tons of population and of course tons of applications that needs to be done for work, yet the gov office working hours just 6-6.5 hours? And they work at sloth speed as well. Software workers have it way hard *taking deep breaths*\nNo use in ranting about how it works in our country

Taking a step backwards in your career, or new studies, new interests ... is the way to approach any new country. If you want to be heralded for coming from somewhere else you need to cluster in ex-Pat retirement communities. Yikes! I am about to emigrate to Ecuador. I was going to pursue the same things, and then I thought about it and ... That is a way to easily find defeat, re-learning, re .... So now I am looking forward to learning something new that I have no past experience of. I have moved to other countries before, this is not my first time emigrating. I am Canadian. It will always be my home, but ... it can be a bit boring. LOL \nThis is a really good video for people thinking of immigrating anywhere.

I totally agree with your video.\n\nI am European, and l have been living in Canada for 7 years, including 4 years in Toronto 2 years Ottawa and now In Montreal.\n\nWhen l arrived in Canada l started from the scratch in order to get Canadian experiences and improve my Eng, undestanble and l accept as new comer.\n\nI come back to college in order to get Canadian Educatiom post graduate program. \n\nI got my Canadian Citizenship, l am improving my French, as we know its important to be Bilingual in Canada.\n\nSo far after all this steps l didn't find my perfect and dreaming job, harder to find well paid job and stable.\n\nSometime l feel l loose my time here. I learned the well paid job need strong connection, no well paid or low income for new comers. That why Canadian Gov. need new immigrant .\n\nCanada its not country for opportunity for every one, and it is not well being city, cost the life its extremely hight, renting in Toronto and Vancouver are impossible to manage specially like me single, social life a little boring and trashy compare Europe.\nHigh cost to travel domestically and internationally are crazy, compare euro and USA, so sometime l feel stocks here.\n\nProbaly someone after read my comments, they think why you here? Great video! Reminded me of when I immigrated to Canada 21 years ago with 8 years of back home experience, still I had to wait for 5 long years during which I went to school twice to get into my field here, and countless times thought about moving back, but once stepped into my field here those thoughts went away. Speaking of taxes, I don't read my pay stubs in much detail, I'm happy as long as I'm able to pay my bills. Canadian Healthcare system doesn't pamper too much, but it's a great blessing in serious emergencies, I and my family experienced several times getting health services worth of several thousands of dollars and ending up paying nothing, so can't complain. At the end Canada is a great country and a great place to live!

Canada indeed has systemic racism for sure. It's not same type of country has origin linear ethnicity such as Korea or Japan. It was built on first nation land in better way than USA. If Canada the county needs immigrants to keep the system and economy works, they start sharing major sectors with proper communities that absolutely respect Canada system their daily life rely on. It takes time, but over 100 years of immigrant culture now should take step properly.

Of course theres racism here.\nOf course police act in terrible ways.\nOf course no one wants to talk about it... \n\nAnd no, its not as bad as it is in the states... but it exists.\nWe militarize our police.. mostly from fear.. but also because its “good politics” to say “we increased policing”\n\nNo, its not right.\n\nCall it out.\nNot sometimes..every time. Not if its your race being afflicted.. for any race. Every time.\n\nIt DOES take time... it will not happen overnight. Especially if we want it to not come BACK.. which it seems to.\n\nTeach your kids. To stand up for themselves.. and for others.\nEspecially for others. Education starts at home. Dont trust schools or others to do what’s right... not until YOU do it too.\n\nSmall, steady steps will get us there faster than huge, resisted ones.\nRemember that.\nWhen a small step is taken, doesnt matter by who.. support it. Make the ones who took it feel it was WORTH TAKING... then watch how eager they are to take the next one.\n\nTrain them like a dog. One step at a time, with constant “atta boy”’s and treats.. and one day, they will just do as they should.. because its right? Racism does NOT surround us. Racism, by definition requires more than one Race to be involved in order for discrimination based on Race to happen. Discrimination CAN happen based on skin color, cultural background, language spoken, country of origin, heritage of ancestors. That is true. None of that however indicates a different Race of people, it only highlights superficial differences in appearance. It is time to end the idea that Racism based on race exists, because claiming discrimination based on Race is the first step to basic Human Rights violations. The Human Race is the only Race of people on the planet.
