I don't blame the people leaving Canada especially the ones who were smart with their money and saved enough in thier younger years. They probably have the freedom to live comfortably in warmer and much more affordable countries.

Canada is awful. Since I moved here 1,5 years ago I’m just struggling with the depression all this time. There is no joy in this country, no feeling of safety. Crime is happening all the time. I don’t feel safe walking on the streets. My salary is low bcz no employer is willing to pay good money to an immigrant. I’m not able to afford a car but the public transport is just terrible! I can barely afford to split the rent with my partner. Barely can save any money. As an immigrant I will never be able to buy a property here. I lived and worked in another country and I was able to save so much money and have a great life, travel, buy food, have fun. Here I am not able to do this.

How much will I be able to save yearly with 50k dollar salary.

the freezing of bank accounts is a bigger issue than just the Trucker rally freezing. To anyone who owns a business in Canada that has ever been through an Audit with the CRA, you know these kids have no idea what they are doing and and way too much power. In my case they actually said they wont accept half my receipts because of the format they were saved in. I had two formats, and they said I could only pick 1 format for them to work with- so immediately from the start the AUDIT would be incorrect, I called it out and refused to pay the fake amount and they froze my bank account--with employees not getting paid. It is clearly irresponsible to operate a business in Canada under that kind of behaviour. Keeping a business in Canada is dangerous. I left. Dont even get me started on what my Doctor said about not treating my low functioning kidneys until they fail!

I think the system was designed intentionally to empty immigrants pockets and then push them out. Sell Canadian Dream, bring as much immigrants as possible. Make them pay crazy rents and keep them in never attainable certification limbo. By the time they realize they are already exploited by the system. They will end up spending all their life savings and youth in Canada doing odd low skill jobs. Cruel system for taking advantage over naive immigrants. I hope soon more and more immigrants will understand this and make wise decision of not coming to Canada at least for now.

You have tried to explain very well the initial struggle faced by new immigrants. This does take years and sometimes decades to settle down properly in a new country for first generation. First generation Indians try to save as much as they can while cutting corners. Things have relatively become much easier as there are plenty of jobs for those who have professional degrees and substantial experience. I personally found Canadian bachelor of engineering was far superior than masters of computer science in USA. I enjoyed spending four years in downtown Toronto while full time studying in late 80’s before moving back to USA. Someone else mentioned here in previous thread that all of their friends are much better off in India. I feel more or less the same way in spite of having three engineering degrees and 40 years experience. I am strong believer in Karmas, your destiny will take you where you’re supposed to be. It’s too expensive. It’s hard to buy a house. Even if immigrant s today work hard save money, it’s not like it was in old days, where it was reasonable to buy a house. And many did. But house prices ten times higher then old days. The cold weather’. Maybe. Probably some rascism. Maybe discrimination. America and Canada you pretty much have to be wealthy to live on these countries.

Canada should be considered as bypass country, get Citizenship and leave to USA. Canada is third world country in hide of First world country. Living there since 2013, moving out of here as soon as I get chance. No savings, high expenses, low salary standards, less opportunities, very few corporate culture & few big firms, highest depression in developed world, worst weather, poor government, less progress & development. Been 10 years, still don’t see much new thing there, even same cloths & design can be found in stores which I bought 10 years back. Literally, living in Canada is monotonous.

Its funny when people talk about the quality of Canadian health care. For example, BC Cancer is one of the best in the world. Canada is on the cutting edge of many health care procedures. Yes, its hard to get a primary care physician but that is because the US is throwing enormous amounts of cash at Canadian doctors and nurses. Canada still keeps up pretty darn well especially when considering Canada has only a FRACTION of the US population and much fewer resources and funds available. My family has never suffered from our health care system in the past 60 years. 1 family member had a quadruple bypass - no bills 2) cancer - no bills 3) emergency c-section w air transport to city 400 mils away - $360 for air ambulance 4) emergency appendectomy - no bills 5) Heart atttack w stint - no bill 6) MRI and CATscans - No bills 6) 3 ADHD diagnosis w mental health care support - no bills 7) industrial accident with crushed hand - no bills 8) Electrical accident with burns throughout body - no bills 9) burns from an oil fire - no bills 10) fall into fire pit w subsequent 3rd degree burns on leg - no bills 11) leg amputation from type 1 diabetes - no bills. And then there are all the little things that happen day to day. In each event, we received top notch care and services. So, you might earn more in the US but we save more in Canada and very few suffer from it. A lot of complaints? Most bad experiences are shared whereas positive ones are not. I think if people on both sides really looked, the US health care fails many more people per capital on a daily basis than in Canada. US insurers are known to abandoned people when they become overly expensive and its not unusual to not have choices in drugs or care options.

I only left at 51 and wished I'd hv started 3 decades earlier ? Hv been on the road for 9 yrs, covered more than 30 countries where I get to work & enjoying literary every corner of the beautiful planet instead of paying up to my nose for nothing in Vancouver, tho I used to love my city to the moon... not to mention months of wet & miserable winter & how cold & edgy people are these days and don't even talk to me about the evil woke culture where our PM along with all the elites are secretly trying to imprison all Canadians where these blood suckers will drain u high & dry whereby they live in cloud nine themselves! Since moving away I've decided to live only a few months in each country I visit but in spite of moving around once every few months yet I managed to save 2-3x more in comparison to when I was working just to pay all the bills where I could never earn enough to own a home in Vancouver, ever! I still hope for massive turn around for the country I love yet I'll encourage anyone to get out of your comfort zone and u shall be surprised by all the experiences money can never buy u! The USA has common gun ownership, almost no social programs, and you would not have to rely on police to save you from scum. Canada has social programs, but too much gun control. The best type of country would have social programs along with every citizen having their own armory. ?

Once u start living here u wil know ur capacity and be proud of urself like u can do all ur works by urself. Missing family members and loneliness is definitely true. Education is much matter in india that is also true. And last wt u said was 100% true if ur earning good in india no need to move to other countries u can hardly save 50k to 1 lakh compare to india . Not health car so much.\nThat said it is common for Alaska couples with no health insurance to come to the whitehorse yukon hospital to have their babies. They pay for the services but save a lot compared to the cost in Alaska.

I blame the agencies, I blame the people themselves who go just crazy when they are told how much they will earn, I blame to our people for not getting the right information that they end up being refugees, I also blame people of lack of honesty, integrity and openess...others are cheated just like: just come as a visitor halafu uishie...which is not good at all. You must have earned enough to put your kids in extra carricuLar activities . Thats a huge expense. And you were lucky you got a good starting job im a school system which is hard to get. Canada is going down.The government build that economy around housing. Most people from China bought so much of those houses.They don't live in those houses,it's a way of most Chinese millionaires hid their cash because the government in China can confiscate your money and property at any time if you get on the wrong side of the government. I am a resident of Toronto for the past 11 years now. I moved here from Calgary because back then I had a better opportunity. I was an aspiring pastry chef. I landed in pretty stable and well paid job. I've already noticed the changes in city a few years before the pandemic. The drug addiction and mental health problem were already quite evident as injection sites were popping up around the cities including public parks. Then the pademic happened, it exposes the cracks in our society, some people are becoming selfish and intolerant. I lost my job due to the pandemic, it was very traumatic, I developed severe anxiety/depression. Luckily, i had some savings when it all happened. Fastforward, I've been working in the last 2 years now but I can no longer find the same job and pay I used to have. Most companies are now more ruthless. They let go employees any minute as soon as they felt the business is slow. There's no more job security. The only reason why I am surviving is because I am living in the same apartment since i moved here. However, my new neighbours who just moved in are paying twice as much. I've been attempting to leave the city but that would mean that i would be paying at least twice of my current rent and there aren't much opportunities elesewhere. I honestly felt trapped in my current situation but I am still grateful that I am still better off than many people who are already living on the edge. Sadly, the situation is only getting worst according to many analysts. I think the country is at a breaking point in many aspects.

I'm a permanent resident in Canada, and I'm on track to become a citizen in a couple years. My sister is a head doctor at one of the biggest and most well known and well respected hospitals in the US. She's saved countless children. And it took her 10 years to get her green card and additional years to become a citizen. It took me 3+ years to get my permanent residence and it'll have taken me 6-7 years to become a citizen. And I'm just an animator. \n\nCanada's immigration system is expensive and time consuming, but it's fair, has a reasonable time frame, and it's much less arbitrary than the systems in the USA. I have my fair share of complaints but I feel exceptionally lucky that the system doesn't feel like it's actively working against me.

But where are the money and jobs in Africa? The money you make in Canada can pay your monthly bills and still have to save. Let's stop lying and complaining too much.

I think Canada is a major disappointment for many immigrants that land here. It's not so much the cold, but rather the cost of living. It's about survival rather than living. It's also true that many people do not receive benefits, and are unable to accumulate any savings from their income.

It is complete madness to sell everything you have if you’re established. Moving back to Nigeria has been the best decision of my life, the money I earn here can’t be compared to when I was still in cooperate America. And I have so much left to save.

As a 25 year old woman living in one of the most expensive cities in Canada, i thankfully have affordable rent and a job with good work life balance and zero debts, but I find saving and getting into the housing market a task more difficult than climbing Mount Everest. This Canadian lived in Orange County CA for 10 years. I took my the 12 year old with me. I had been offered my dream job and was paid enough to have a good standard of living. However, I lived in an immigrant community to save money as I found many of the high schools were horrid compared to Canada. I had not realized the school to school inequality to be so extreme and my kid changed to independent study at home. So with a Canadian elememtary education, they graduated high school a year only while skipping no courses..\n\nMy kid had medical issues and even with good HMO insurance, we could never get a decent diagnosis until it had gotten so bad that their digestive system was so wrecked. I finally sent them back to Canada for the surgery that we could not get in the USA. It seemed the insurance companies kept getting in the way. And in one case a doctor went all religious on us. After 6 years of almost continuous pain they finally got relief for a decade until the prior damage came back to haunt them However, after a year of university ib Canada my kid went to a private university in the eastern USA. They have decided to remain in the USA and now in their mid 30s, they make really good money anf have top line medical insurance which pays for the ongoing care they need because of the damage caused by delays when a teenager. \n\nI found life in the suburbs of Orange County nice but the OC is not a good place to meet people. When after 10 years there, in 2010 I returned to Vancouver to care for my elderly mother. I had been living alone for 6 years by then and was offered the first job in Vancouver anything close to me dream job there. and I returned to Canada at age 59. I had been approved for a green card in 2008 but there was a 6 year wait for it to come through. But I noticed the racism in the USA start breaking out all over the place when Obama got elected. And it has gotten worse and worse every year. Except one who thinks 45 was the greatest. Politically, the USA is on the path that Germany was on in 1933 and I fear for the US Democracy if the Orange One gets in again. Even my kid and their spouse have bug out plans to head to Canada just in case. This is why my kid, while having a green card has never taken US citizenship. Besides, being a Canadian has not affected things the two times they got security clearances \n\nWhile most Americans are good people, it seems that about 25% have gone just plain loco and care nothing about democracy. And appear to prefer the USA to be a totalitarian theocracy \n\nI was there long enough, paying the maximum FICA taxes for 10 years to get a small pension from Social Security and I have Medicare Part A. I can afford to buy parts B and D but I see no reason. I have even better coverage in Canada for way less cost. The USA has a nice warm climate in many places and I just loved that. But otherwise y'all have too many people who want to turn the place into an intolerant police state and to return the country to 1950s levels of intolerance, So in my retirement, I will stay here in Canada. Even though I could go and move in with my kid in the USA and get onto US Medicare.

The single issue I would have would be the healthcare one. But as of now, this year of our lord 2023, Canada is on a slip-n-slip straight to socialist hell. And I would have a difficult time finding any other reason not to choose the US. Even with the health care, since the pandemic - and possibly because of mass firings - our system has been so stressed it's now actually as dire as Americans have always believed it was. On top of that, people in need of life saving surgery's are being refused if they haven't been jabbed, people are literally bring left to die. We have a housing crisis and a homelessness crisis, so what does our government do? Brings in a bunch of economic migrants to further stress our system. All in all, the US would be a much better option today.

I’m 52 years old and have never witnessed outright racism against blacks. Yesterday I went to see a doctor. I have fibromyalgia and can barely walk but I had to cause I don’t have a car atm. The waiting room was PACKED. I asked about seeing a doctor and was told “ he’s not seeing patients today”. I asked “what about all of these people”? She said “they’re all immigrants and he is seeing them”. I’ve lived here my entire life but I guess he wasn’t seeing Canadians. I find the black people that complain and cry racism haven’t done much with their life. I have friends that are VERY SUCCESSFUL black people and they never talk like this. You just wouldn’t not hear it out of their mouths. And they live in Edmonton . Hard working, decent people they are. I’m facing homelessness come July 1. Ain’t nobody coming to save me. Rent increase of $430 dollars will do that tho. Everyone is struggling to some degree. Instead of further dividing us, we should be coming together to come up with solutions to help each other. Friends against friends, family members squawbling, it's quite insane. WEF experiments have had a major focus on Canada, and it has degraded our society immensely. Water wasn't lonely like that here in the states. When I was a kid we turned right out the box, shit we used to drink right out the garden hose outside when I was a kid back in the 80s. Then at some point the government decided to not clean the water as much and the money that the taxpayer would save by not having that service they could use to buy clean bottled water. Government workers get paid way to much in Canada and have to much power.. teachers and fire fighter make 100K with amazing pensions and it’s way harder to do in the private sector.. Canada is a super expensive country, I've been here for 30 years and still renting houses, unable to save for a downpayment to buy my own house, paying rent forever with my husband and not being able to afford to have kids either. This country is depressing, you go to college and then work and have nothing. Canada is not a happy country, people are broke, paying too many taxes and not getting the proper services, there is a shortage of family doctors in Canada. Also paying too much for rent and gas. The socialist government makes things harder year by year, they don't develop the economy to keep up with the times, the liberal government has a lot to do with the crappy economy here. They create policies to make everything extremely hard for Canadians to succeed. If you are thinking of coming to Canada, think twice, it's a trap, it will take you years to be able to afford anything, you will struggle most of your life.

Not only that but because we have immigrants we would have stronger ties to those immigrant countries which can come in handy later.
