This is so sad that these people are going through so much in there country that they have to leave. God says love our neighbors. I just pray they will get help an come in legally. We have problems taking care of our own people that are out on the streets. Lord help us all.

That is where most of oil prices are determined also since our refineries are not setup to refine domestically produced oil (it is the wrong type) and it would take decades and billions to convert. Not to mention costly and owned by multi-national corporations. And forcing them do so amounts to semi state-control and is a communist ideal. They are capitalist institutions and are only beholden to shareholders. And those shareholders are not voting to take a loss.

I always thought we should pay Mexicans to stay in Mexico and make Mexico great. Instead of us paying for everything under the sun for them in dollars, we could have paid them in pesos to build housing, rec centers, community centers, churches, hospitals, roads, etc .. .. I'm all for helping people, and being charitable. I don't mind helping people but for God's sake we don't spend 80 million on a city budget for helping the homeless. *shrugs* Canadian here. No interest in leaving, especially to the US of all places.\n\nI mean think that through. My income tax is around 17% of my income. My capital gains on investments is around 15%. I get free health care (which while obviously not free - is paid out of my taxes, yet isn't rationed or in-network restrictions, doesn't have copays and cover 90% of my medical needs). I have a government that even at its worst, is orders of magnitude more rational and public serving than the US (and god help you if Trump gets back in). Not to mention a country that doesn't literally have a major gun violence/mass shooting even EVERY FRICKING WEEK, unlike the US.\n\nAnd yes, I live in Metro Van and I have an 850 sq ft two bedroom apt I'm renting for $1250/mo - so maybe the problem isn't simply that the housing market is too tight (which it is), but that you've picked a city in high demand that's boxed in on four sides - ocean to the west, mountains to the north, US border to the south and what little farmland the lower mainland can sustain to the east. I came to Canada 20 years ago from East Europe to embrace the Western culture. It's all gone now. I'm back in Europe now, I left everything behind, great achivements and a great career because I don't want to live in Asia, Romania is more democratic and Weatern culture than Canada by far. Oh, and less communist too. Shame, I love Canada and I was greatful for everything it gave me. God help us all.

I think it’s just the normal thing, questions are asked in every port of entry, I came into Canada about a week ago and was asked exactly same questions in Toronto airport all you need is have all your documents handy and be bold in answering all the questions you are asked and be genuine.
