I do not understand caring about the dollar value of a home unless one is planning on selling. The only value of my home that I care about is that it provides me with a rent-free place to live that I own outright. To me, increasing the value of my home just increases my property tax without providing me with any greater benefits. \n\nDoes everyone in Canada plan on selling their homes?

Maybe he should discuss the constant duty fees and border crossing fees for anything shipped from Canada to the USA that have been constantly rising for years; fees that his very own government sets. A license that no one actually needs considering other legal and ethical controls are in place to prevent unsafe foods from crossing the border, but Canada reserves the right to make us pay for one or we suffer consequences. Maybe he should discuss how they left their borders open to migrants, making it much easier for criminal migrants to get into the US. Maybe he should understand that the US has always been bleeding money to Canada on a trade level for about half a century with it getting much worse in the last decade because Canada's government are greedy. Before any of you come at me, keep in mind I work in the food ingredient industry as an order processing, logistics and customs & border crossing and have done so for 15 years. These tariffs were a long time coming and if any of you are on the inside of trade in the manner I am, then you know what I'm saying is true. The US is constantly paying additional tariffs by way of duty fees, customs fees, certain applied taxes (like there is literally a blueberry tax to ship US grown blueberries into Canada to prevent US blueberries from taking over the Canadian blueberry market). The blueberry tax is about 25cents per lb. which drives the price per lb. up for the seller and buyer. You wanna know why Food costs so much? All of the above with a huge side helping of GREED.

Recent military retiree here. I've had to endure quite some time of my military service walking on eggshells because one of these snowflakes might get offended. Wouldn't the fact that the city council, allocated that money AFTER the ice raids took place. Lets be real here the northern border is also an American responsibility....especially when they are the ones offering the cheese to the mice in the first place attracting these people. Then once the money incentives are in place it's turns into a runaway process that results in 20k Haitians living in small towns like Springfield OH. Which could've handled 1k at best. These students can't complain about the student fee, Housing , food and living cost .\n\nU can blame trudue for lowering the standards for student visa. \n\nTo my knowledge from friends i know as students durring high-school vs students coming to study at college. \n\nPrior to this issue these a few mandatory requirements \n\n- parents most make over 200 k usd , and assets .\n\n- you must have xxx amount in usd dollars equivalent in your bank account and open a HSBC bank account with xxx amount \n\n - u must show you can afford for your child to stay at a mandatory homestay , all the associated cost staying and studying in canada for min 3 years \n\nJust passing the first 3 requirements, most ppl get rejected. \n\n- most leave the home stay due to culture differences and end up renting a 1 bed room condo. \nThat alone back in harper days was 20 k a year.\n\nMind you these students i met are from Vietnam, a 3rd world country where a university graduate with 2 degree will make only $500 usd which is consider a very good job . Its equivalent to5 k / month . \n\nSo thier dollar isn't worth much , for their parents to have that much money to send a 15 year old to study hs in a foreign country is a luxury only a selected few can dream of\n\nAlso none of them worked and work permit wasn't allowed. Even they were allow why would u when ur parents give u their debit card ~ visa card with allowance of 2- 3k to spend .\n\nInwould say 25% of these rich students go home within a year as they get home sick.\n\nToday standards\n\n- not many come as high school students as it's alot harder and still up hold strict standards as their still a minor. \n\n- college is easier route\nOnly have to prove u can afford the 1st. Year of study \n- a place to live\n- your parents can support you while ur here \n\nSo some one in India is faking the documents so they can come over strictly to work and pay for school and living cost. \n\nThis is why we have this problem. Even Vietnamese students doing this but alot work save all their money and go back home after their visa end. \n\nWhat ever they save in 3 years is like 10-20 years plus of saving working in Vietnam as these students are from.poor families barly getting by\n\nWith that being said, studying aboard is a luxury no matter what country ur from.\n\nImaginenthe cost of sending ur kids to the usa for school, most of will have to take. I am Québécois, and things here are quite different from the rest of Canada. For example, we have a law here that clearly forbids wearing religious signs when in a position of authority. Even a teacher, because they are a figure of authority for their students, could not wear the Roman collar, a cassock, a hijab, a niqab or anything else of the sort while in school. In the streets or any other public place, there is no problem at all. Everyone is welcomed to express their difference of culture or religion in the way they dress or in whatever other way. They are treated with the same respect and kindness as anywhere else in Canada. It is only that the separation of religion and state, and religion and authority is paramount here. Everybody is free and can express themsleves freely. But don't use that freedom to impose your views onto others. \nSo, when American judges are chosen for the federal court specifically because of their christian fundamentalist biases, it doesn't resonate well at all for me or the majority of Québécois. When the rights of the LGBTQ+ community are being questioned or jeopardised. Or a previous federal judgement like Roe v Wade is being overturned for religious reasons... it is a definite turn off for all of the Québec people to even remotely consider the United States as a destination to emigrate to (supposing that one would want to leave our beautiful country).\nMore and more, America, that used to be recognized as the land of the free, appears to be retrograde and restrictive and definitely not so free.

These people are desperate, can you imagine things being so bad in your own country that you travel thousands of miles to try to get into another one that promises a better life? It truly is sad for those who have empathy. Perhaps the United States should tackle the immigration problem by trying to make things better in other countries so those folks don't feel in need to cross over into America. Instead of stopping us aid helping other countries, and waging and supporting wars in other countries, the USA could take a different approach and actually help the world become a better place. It's crazy I know, but it just might help.

I get it they need a place but do you think Canadians born here deserve better?\nWhen a homeless Canadian with mental illness needs a shelter they shouldn't be turned down, sadly not enough room is right but someone who is born and native to Canada should get dibs on tons of stuff, I heard canada will turn down new ones but if a refugee wants to travel back home please stay back home.

This is really sad becuase life after deportations is tough for somebody who was raised in USA. I was taken to the U.S. as a baby and grew up there, but at 19, I was sent back to Mexico—a country I had no memory of, no connections in, and barely spoke the language. My entire family had migrated when I was little, so I was left to figure everything out on my own.\n\nComing back felt like being thrown into an unfamiliar world. I wasn’t fluent in Spanish, had a weird accent, and my mindset was completely different from those who grew up in Mexico. I used to be outgoing and got along with everyone, but now I’ve become more introverted. I struggle to relate to people, have trouble socializing, and often feel like I don’t belong. I feel completely alone, with no one to talk to in person because everyone sees me as an outsider. Many even think I’m a terrible person for coming back after being raised in the very place they dream of moving to.\n\nMaking friends has been challenging too. Many assume that because I grew up in the U.S., I have more money, and friendships often come with the expectation that I’ll pay for everything.\n\nOn top of that, daily life is a struggle. Renting a place is extremely difficult because I don’t have a co-signer from Mexico, and they won’t accept one from the U.S. Getting legal documents like a passport is nearly impossible because my parents haven’t been in the Mexican system for over 19 years, and officials tell me they have no way to prove who I am. Unlike in the U.S., where there are laws against discrimination, I face rejection at every turn here.\n\nThis life is hard. I wish my family had never migrated—or at least had done so after I was old enough to understand the risks and what could happen in the future.

One in-service transition surgery is 150k. The monthly wage of a fresh boot marine earns is just under 1.8k a month. A Navy commander ears 6.75k per month just to put that into prespective. Without taking the 36 months of follow up treatment into account in the cost you could have 2 Navy Commanders educated and put into service for the same money as just one transition surgery. Or have a squad of Marines paid for a whole year.
