The greedy Canadian grocery chains and housing market are slowly killing Canada's future, no wonder people want to leave. In other words, greedy Canadians are ruining their own future, what a shame...

My immigration process took 14 years in total until I could get here, it was a blessing and I had a lot of gratitude to be here after living in a warzone. Ive lived in Winnipeg for 10 years, a part of me was always happy and okay to deal with the cold because at least nobody would be killing you or attempting to on a daily basis, with rockets and bombs. 10 years later, I was wondering that the only reason we came here was to escape war, and not find a better quality of life. You can tell me “you don’t like it then leave” but i find it disturbing that many Canadians here don’t recognize how bad the situation gets, when governments don’t do anything to enhance quality of life and corporates take control everywhere and raise the costs to unbelievable numbers. Housing crisis, most can’t afford houses or even rent a nice apartment. Healthcare system is a complete dogshit mess, people here don’t recognize the importance of how much this industry needs to be supported by governments and citizens because EVERYONE benefits from it and stay alive longer. I don’t know man, I only see it collapsing going forward, especially when everyone is divided and the aboriginal issues are a constant trend.

canada is going downhill quickly with its economic crisis, housing crisis, marjwuana being legalized and homeless in the rise, the towns look like zombie town with the homeless everywhere and their left behind garbages , and on top of this the cold weather, -for sure immigrants will leave. Shame on the Canadian leaders to turn such a wonderful country into this. Canada used to be everybody's dream, once. Not anymore !

No wonder everything is getting so expensive and housing and rent is going through the roof. almost 1/2 million new residents a year? Where is all the infrastructure and housing for that coming from? The gov needs to put the brakes on immigration and lets things stabilize for a while jesus. Almost every Liberal policy is like a perfect storm for making this country unaffordable for the average Canadian. \nIf you're going to let people in let it be only in job markets we need like high skilled workers, and especially doctors and nurses. And dear god help those doctors and nurses get appropriately accredited before giving them citizenship. Our system needs people who can work in the system not people who got their degree or diploma in some flyby night school. I see way to many people at my workplace trying to get jobs with fake diplomas or degrees. Those people need to be deported ASAP! They lied to get here and they are lying to employers. Sorry no sympathy there.

but you're not counting the illegals. That's why there's no housing.....half a million immigrants per year, and hardly any housing being built. WHOA! i've seen some of the vets from 3rd world countries.....they're not very well educated. I can only wonder about Drs and nurses.

You mean that immigrants who are coming for a better life are disappointed with sky high taxes, increased housing prices, increasing crime rates, lower jobs and to add to this 6 months of frozen landscape. \n\n\nHmmm.. As an immigrant who is dying to get out of here, I wonder why?

Potential immigrants to Toronto may think it will be wonderful but you may want to think twice unless you can score at least a $120,000 job. Let's say you will clear $90,000 after taxes and deductions. A modest condo will cost you $600k and $600 per month fees. Figure on total housing costs' if you own, of $5000± per month. A detached house in Toronto starts at about $1.2 million. Lets say you have 10 percent to put down. Your mortgage at 7 percent will cost more than 75,000 per year. Then your annual costs for taxes, utilities, mtce, insurance will be close to 25k per year. Plan to buy groceries, have a car, eat out, have kids, travel? You'd better have a life partner who also makes six figures.

Unfortunately, jobs haven't risen in availability to match this rate, inflation almost matches the rate, and so do the numbers matching our urban housing crisis. Wondering how this is really a 'secret weapon'?...and more importantly...who is this 'weapon' intended to be used on?

I am Canadian, my husband is American. I moved to the USA 11 years ago. I live in a liberal state (by American standards) with little violence (by American standards). I like where we live and enjoy most of the people that I interact with. I would move back to Canada in a heartbeat. I must confess that I felt like I stepped back in time 20 years when I moved here - labor standards in the US are so behind the rest of the world (maternity leave, paid time off, job protections, etc). To a Canadian, US culture feels accepting of racism, violence, us vs them mentalities, gun culture, religious and political fanaticism. I still can’t get over how “normal” Americans think their healthcare system is…. most other countries think it is absolutely nuts! I have good insurance, but if I ever develop a serious illness….I will move back to Canada where I can attempt to keep my health AND still have a house to live in. On the surface, Americans and Canadians look alike - but I still feel the cultural differences every day. I’m sure that America feels safe and wonderful to Americans who grew up here - but it can be difficult for people who grew up with different values to agree that these things make America “great”.

Everything you mentioned is honest. Settling in another country totally depends on one’s perspective. I have been through this state so I know what you have witnessed and what other people would be thinking or saying. I am wondering how you packed your everything and moved? Like the house rent which you gave in advance? And all the stuff you bought? One thing more, totally agreed “paisa pani ki trha bah raha hay”

A rather old tradition inherited from the English parlement, to drag the Speaker to the chair.\nI wonder if the next Speaker of the US House will be dragged to the chair too. If so possible by his feet.

Yes actually I do have a comment or two. I think that Toronto has become the victim of either its own success as a multicultural, diverse and growing metropolis or the perceived idea that Toronto is the place to be. And what that brings with it? Yes, people who are interested in living the life and those who can afford it pay it. You said it very well, the city has become unaffordable to most people but the wealthy or at least those who are getting paid the best salaries and those who bank on real estate take advantage of this, be it the hype or reality since also, most job opportunities are still there. So to me the problem is with the lack of contro of the real estate market. And people who cant pay but for whatever reason live there just have to pay the price. The refugee situation is not surprising to me at all. We are struggling with affordable housing for crying out loud but we are also advertising to the world that we are that welcoming and peaceful society that those people can be part of. But at what cost. Toronto cannot continue like this if it will still be considered as a city for the people and not the wealthy and chronically increasing poor. No wonder they chose a progressive for a mayor and not a conservative or hard line liberal because people want change but not radically. People want to live in the best city they can having all necessary services and in peace and safety. So, there are so maby layers to pill here but again, the main reason why things have gotten the way they are is because they let real estate run unleashed. All the best, Alina.

Gee I wonder why no one can afford a house in the Toronto. Also, Sanjay should just walk across the Mexican border. Democrats will welcome him.

Just wonder, if the pay in Canada is so low and the housing is so expensive, then who's buying em houses and playing in the market?

Wow, they get $ 50.000 tax free dollars the first year…must be nice, I wish I made that much money. And the also get 25,000 tax free dollars to set up their house …I never got that! and they also get the child tax free benefit too…..if they have 8-10kids wow ..they are making over six figures tax free ..free dental, free RX….I have to work hard for that! No freebies for the hard working Canadian tax payers!
No wonder they all want to come to Canada …the land of milk and honey and easy money…why work?
She forgot to mention that a lot of refugees never pay back the money for their air fare costs to come here ..ever!
A lot of them complained when they had to go on welfare after a year…a drop on income…..oh no …maybe they have to go out in the cold to work everyday…..no , just have another kid or two…why work right.
No wonder we pay high taxes in Canada!

This is crazy , wonder why the drug problem is rampant in our country ? Wonder why there is a 300% increase in crime in the cities ? Wonder why there is a housing crisis ? Wonder why our country is falling apart at the seams ? HERE IS THE REASON ! Now ….HERE IS THE SOLUTION …#1 You want citizenship here ? You are immediately enlisted in the armed forces for a minimum of 4 years .#2 You are sent to school in the military to read and write english . #3 If you refuse to swear allegiance and enlist ( you are not given visa , green card status ) nothing …you go home . #4 if you have a felony criminal record …you go home ….#5 sex offender ? You go home . #6 No money made here in the US being deposited in oversea accounts . #7 There is a limit on how much $ can be sent to the family of recent US citizens , can be lifted after 2 years of living in US . #8 No recent US citizen can hold any political office , anywhere …#9 Failure to abide by the laws in this country be it state or federal , you go home citizenship revoked ( within reason ) #10 No flying your previous countries flag or colors on your car or home . What ? Sound communist ? It’s not , these are guidelines for several countries , Israel being one , there it’s 2 years military svc , women included . New Zealand , Australia , japan , etc …….

I have lived in different parts of Canada my whole life, but always seem to end up in majority conservative areas. I do not consider myself a conservative. Even though I don't agree with everyone's politics, I can still live here feeling relatively safe and accepted.\nWhen things get a bit much and I feel like maybe home doesn't feel safe or match my values, I never look at the USA as my exit plan. I have considered Sweden, and Finland before anywhere else. I also wonder if it's just the sheer volume of people that Canadians aren't used to when they visit the states. Your population is massive compared to ours, and it's hard to imagine the quality of life that I have here being easy to emulate down there without drastic changes.\nThen there's my vacation and sick time at work. Maternity leaves etc... so many quality of life things to consider. I look at the housing prices and really wish I could get over the other things. But as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, I could never work in your fee for service word. I know what hospital CEOs are doing to your healthcare from the diagnostic side - the shortcuts that are being made to make more money - and I could never do that with my ethics.\nI hope Canada wasn't too rough on you - we can be pretty shitty some times lol... and not even be sorry about it.

From my childhood it was my dream to love in USA or Canada but now I realized money and materialistic pleasure can't bring you true happiness in life \nWhat these countries lack is engaging in social circle and generally theres feeling of loneliness and depression in the suburban areas.\nI would never want to live like that no matter how many cars and luxury houses you give me.\nIt's no wonder despite being the richest country in the world , depression and mental health issue is so much high in United States

Tab berrr knack!\nShort for Tabernacle, it's a common term used in frustration in Quebec.\nIt insults the Catholic church, yet I found most of the French speaking people that I spoke to and asked about this were actually Catholic. It puzzled me. Like being frustrated and insulting their own beliefs. \nNo, sorry, I am happy to live in Canada and visit my friends and family there. \nYou have so many fabulous things to be proud of as an American. I have seen most of the states and would love to do it over again. I have met many, many wonderful and warm decent people there.\nBUT irresponsible gun ownership, mass shooting increasing to the point that other countries are recommending that people not visit the US!!A country divided politically and violently by ignorance of the minority, and allowing people to lose their houses when they lose their health? And women dying from poor pregnancy outcomes although predicted by their doctors....And the gay right thing, and school curriculum foolishness going on in Florida? I'm glad I visited Florida so many times before that craziness. Yey more people keep moving there. 31 million now! Why? I hate the heat an hour and a half above the border! And hurricanes! And massive tornadoes. And Malaria now!\nCome up to Canada. Bring your family too. It's safer. Less people equals less danger.\n\nKeep on keeping on! ❤

Sad, really. I well remember driving down SR 63 between Batavia and Geneseo NY back in the day, bound for the wonderful Geneseo airshow. Even pre-9/11 half the houses in the little towns along 63 had Old Glory on the porch or on a pole in the yard. I used to admire that. Now it would smack of neofascism. I haven't been to the US since a car club event in March 2011, and have no particular plans ever to return. I live about an hour from Buffalo...

And you wonder why the house prices are skyrocketing in Canada?
|
| 2023-05-18 | 0 |
Unfortunately we can thank Biden for this! When most of us can't even find affordable housing I wonder where all of these people are actually going to sleep? People are out in their cars their campers their vans and some are on bicycles sleeping under the stars. So I wish the migrants good luck most Americans are not happy about the situation we will see what kind of reception they get.
|
| 2023-05-16 | 0 |
Yup. The Biden admin told Venezuelans and Cubans that they are not welcomed here. Meanwhile, cartels are... I wonder why...\n\nAnd in the meantime, veterans are left without homes to allow illegal immigrants space in hotels, Americans can't afford higher education, let alone a house in many instances, and property is being bought En masse by people like Gates and companies like Blackrock...\n\nDo we even matter? Do we, the people that live here, legal immigrants, born in America, matter? Do we? CNN why don't you make that question for us?

As a Venezuelan who migrated and still travels in the proper ways I can surely say many there want true help. Venezuela is insane compared to what you people even live whit, best work you can get there will make you up to 90-120 bucks a month, no food in supermarkets, some insanely expensive which will make you choose between buy bread or tuna and rice for a whole month ( imagine not being able to eat your favorite meats or prefered food FOR MONTHS, EVEN SOME YEARS) , if you are a professional or educated of course the opportunity grows up but not in a socialist country. as we know you can be a socialist in a capitalist system but not the opposite and this is a fact. Those people are genuinely scared with no home back in their country as for many houses and private properties have been removed with force, some of you sure will be wondering how or why not to follow the main curse to migrate? I had to spend 3 days sleeping on a huge queue with many other people also sleeping in the streets to get our passport(that's was the easy part, 4 years to get the date to finally get that fucker passport.), something so simply done in other countries which such ease, not to mention the whole cost for a passport (I knew people who paid aroundn 700usd to get it asap). \n\nPlease don't pitty these people nor hate on any inmigrants, some families there really wish for a future, and again as someone who had the opportunity to do my papers. We do not wish this upon no body. The pain in the hunger, the fact the money from your country is so little valued that even video game money has way more worth.\n\nIt's a very scary place which we are trying to genuinely scape from.\n\nHopefully for my brothers and sisters from the states try to understand, hopefully these people at some point will need to understand that doing things out of fear will not get them far. Again a very very scary situation.

I wonder how much room the white house has? I'm sure that we can make room for the border crossers. Joe can you please help out?
|
| 2023-05-10 | 0 |
I wonder how much of this could be resolved if we decided to pull back senseless embargoes that aren’t achieving policy objectives. Let Venezuelans and Cubans, for example, rule their nations as they wish and stop punishing them for regimes not politically aligned with the USA. It’s this bs that people like Putin use to justify their injustices abroad given that the USA insistes on a global rules-based order in which she alone sets the rules. Many, not all of, these people wanting to cross the border are coming to people who can house them. Many have family already in the USA. Besides, we are seeing the chickens coming home to roost after years of failed US intervention in Central and South America. Smell the historical facts; wake up America.

My neighbors are illegal immigrants with 7 cars. I wonder how many Americans can’t find housing because of them. They need to go back.
|
| 2023-04-09 | 0 |
And people wonder why rent prices have skyrocketed under Biden. Lots less housing available all of the sudden.
|
| 2023-04-07 | 0 |
The US can barely take care of it’s own people must less more from other countries. And most wanna come here to reap the benefits the state provides like free housing, food stamps, medical benefits, which is why we’re facing a financial collapse as it is. What happens then I wonder??
|
| 2023-04-05 | 0 |
I wonder if the Democrats will treat this like the mass entry of the White house.
|
| 2023-04-03 | 0 |
It only seems fair that the USA has all the Mexicans and Canada because of Justin Trudeau. we have almost a million Afghanistan people in CANADA. Yes, we have housing problems n now welfare income though the roof.\nI wonder what year was Desert Storm.??\nAnd I wonder who these Afghanistan people are going to vote for...lets all guess?, Justin Trudeau 2025
|
| 2023-04-01 | 0 |
Then they want to wonder why people want to send illegal Mexicans back when we can barely even house people as is and especially with our economy right now ridiculous tbh
|
| 2023-03-30 | 0 |
This is disrespectful to this country. Y is this so easy. And then America wonders why there's no housing.
|
| 2023-03-29 | 0 |
This is pure disrespect, committing crimes already and we are just gonna house them, give them food, Healthcare and education. No wonder they keep coming like this. No repercussions, nothing. We are doomed!
|
| 2023-03-26 | 0 |
Stop all immigration for the next 5 years. Send them all Back.\n First we need to fix this country, people living on the streets, people living in poverty, lack of affordable housing and food. Then overhaul our social safety net programs from coast to coast to coast and get all the free loaders off it and back to work. Then we need to take a look at all the Indigenous communities living in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, except wonder if there going to go hunting fishing or collect fire wood for the day living off government checks! Then once all that crap is fixed let's see how many legal immigrants and only legal immigrants we need to let into this country.
|
| 2023-03-26 | 0 |
No wonder theirs like 4 families living in one house hold we're over populated
|
| 2023-03-26 | 0 |
Our politicians have allowed Canada to become a default destination for so called refugees who are more often economic migrants looking to benefit from Canada's largesse. With such massive numbers of immigrants and refugees entering the country, we should not wonder why affordable housing and rental units are increasingly difficult to find for the existing population and why our social and health systems are overwhelmed.
|
| 2023-03-21 | 0 |
So about 5000 people are crossing a month, now find housing for all these people, no wonder rent is insane for everybody, there is no way lower income people can keep pace with this influx creating a massive shortage of basic places to live at reasonable prices. Sharing is great, but once you can't handle your own homeless people, then something else needs to happen.

It has nothing to do with tolerance but making big money! Sell drugs , keep them on it! So many industries are making business with this disgusting situation, others payed to look away. Taxpayers are the idiots paying for this tragic . They should stop legalize hard drugs so people don’t end up on the street . Laws made for criminals to thrive. They don’t control the Crimes but make of gang of so supposed 40 criminals and the drug lords are making big business that’s all. City hall is so called “ Helpless “ instead of cleaning up this growing area of half dead and naked screaming people. The shops in the are under massiv attack, brake in after brake in causing massiv damage ! Broken Windows on a regular basis, cause no one in position created &well pated will take action to stops this ! Damages are payed by the shop owner , so who cares . Vancouver drug area in the middle of the Tourist area is the richest district because so many are making money with this terrible situation! Police does not even bother anymore because theses criminals on drug are protected. Maybe one night in jail and then go back to hurting the taxpayers who pays for this madness. Even the 5 star hotels near the area experienced brake ins and robbers. All of this is well supported and grows like cancer. Many young are in danger to take something while having a party because it’s easy and legal to get wasted and loose your brain, then to sit on the street or get sent back home in a black bag! and put the needle in your arm while we got work to pay for this. The fire alarm is used many times mostly just for fun from zombies in the drug houses placed absolutely wrong in the middle of a expansive shopping street by the city to good ! To whom I am wondering. A disgrace inhuman disgusting how this is handeld! Shane on you all who keep this situation I alive ! Pray to God this find an End !

As a Canadian majority of us don’t want illegal immigrants. Why do we the tax payers have to dish billions upon billions every year to throw these broke people in a nice house while we have homeless, veterans and troubled youth. No wonder our country is a shit show.
|
| 2023-03-08 | 0 |
So the joke was that people in the US keep their shoes on in the house and even in bed! Lol I wonder whose house you’ve visited—not my house (nor any of my friends)?
|
| 2023-01-17 | 0 |
As native of Mobile, Al. (thanks for the shoutout preach). Y'all are pretty spot on with your list, but it really does depend on what part of the country you're talking about. America is big. I've been to all the major cities and even I wonder how people survive on low paying jobs, what some people pay for a Studio in a major city could afford a house elsewhere. It also seems the bigger the city, the more segregated it is, I mean you have a Chinatown in almost every metropolis I've been to. NYC Public Transportation was disgusting...Tokyo was immaculate. America is a car country, and most city planning was done with the car in mind. Roll Tide.

I think that's one of the largest problems in the United States. To be a real estate developer or landlord, I want to make good money.\n\nIf the cost of the 20 building complex costs me $125 million, I will set the majority of those to elegance and people willing to pay for that. But it seems quite greedy to charge exorbant rents and continue having that cost go up every year.\n\nIf mortgages in a median area are $2500, let me set the rent to maybe $1500 to $1800. But that's not the case!\n\nRenting, the cost of the apartment NEVER caps off! To think that I'm renting a 1 or 2-bedroom apartment at $1875, but no in-house laundry, no dishwasher, but I'm paying for water, gas, extra fees is insane! \n\nAnd these owners wonder why people try to kill them.
