I’ve read many comments urging Canada to reduce its exposure to the us. It’s reasonable but that doesn’t happen overnight. Refineries, for example, are custom built - they can’t process all crudes. They’d cost several billion to build and at least 3-5 years; plus, you need railways and port infrastructure to ship out oil or its byproducts. This should have been started in 2017 (trump’s 1st term). In the short term, free trade zones within Canada and Mexico may alleviate some of the tariffs.

well there is trade with Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and Mexico that could bypass it all. If USA were not busy being Israel's poodle and guard-dog trying to make an American empire all over the world, much of it to serve Israel, then they could deploy their troops all over the border with their ridiculously large amount of law enforcement agencies and personnel (ICE, FBI, ATF, State Troopers etc) and stop all drugs and criminal gangs flooding in.

I am an Indian in America and Indians need to develop India ??, 1) Ending the Caste System 2) Industrializing the country such as Manufacturing, Logistics and energy India has a lot of Natural Resources such as coal and Iron 3)Establish trading Partners with US, Germany and UK, Brazil. They are very strong and smart countries with a lot of great companies that could be advantageous. 4) India needs to be more capitalistic to avoid a brain drain. 5) Indians need to eat more meat and work out more, you look at the Brazilians and Nigerians they are great MMA fighters. It is unscientific and will harm those engaging in those fallacies - most likely with higher inflation in the US. Trump imposes 25% on his partners, neighbours and allies and only 10% on China. Haha tariffs against USA is like 1% of their gdp, where on the other hand trade with US is like more than 20% for those countries.

Dont blame Trump for all this. Blame President Lincoln, Wilson, Taft for creating taxes. Roosevelt for enacting a bill into law for charging taxes to the American people for social security, Reagan for shutting down factories in US & leaving US to foreign Countries for cheaper cost. Canada needs to get all new trading partners, they need to look to Europe, Asia, and other countries. There are other markets out there, especially in the EU, where they are no longer getting energy from Russia. If Canada shows any weakness Trump will hit Canada even harder, the only why Canada stays strong and comes out ahead, is to be strong. Canada will suffer for a while, but with new trade partners, Canada will be much better off.

In 2024, the trade deficit between the United States and Canada was $45 billion. According to recent data, Mexico's trade deficit in 2024 is reported to be around $8.2 billion. Let's fix that too.

I guess starting a trade war with America is preferred over securing the bloody border. They think their tariffs will do a thing? US is their largest trading partner not the other way around. It will harm them significantly more than it will harm us. Prices may go up a dollar here but an equivalent of 100 dollars there. Trudeau and the wicked witch of the south will back off and listen to their master soon enough just like Colombia.
