Borders exist for a reason. It’s not fair to citizens of ANY country to dump hoards of unknown, unvetted people onto us and our cities AND expect us to support, educate, provide healthcare and pay for them. People from poor countries think westerners and Europeans are all rich. In our societies we work extremely hard and sacrifice our entire lives to have a good future and healthcare if we need it. We pay a lot of tax to have safe cities and towns. When you dump thousands and millions of people into our countries we all sacrifice even more and cannot access housing, healthcare or social programs because they are overwhelmed helping illegals. That is not fair to citizens of any nation. The real difference would be teaching poorer war torn countries how to build fair societies. How to build an economy. How to develop a democracy. How to root out government corruption. How to be tolerant of other religions. How to take care of your own citizens!!

It’s not about immigration, it’s about integration. Certain people take advantage of liberal democracies, live off social welfare, don’t t contribute and want separate laws for themselves. This is what the average European is against but the politicians and media are tone deaf. The consequences are there for all to see in the UK. Even Tommy Robinson for example welcomes Indian (legal) immigrants who assimilate and contribute.

The outlook is not bad. The problem is that the solution will NOT come from the hands of politicians, not even those who today use discontent to win votes. I bet ten years' salary that people like Poilievre will only do, as conservative governments do, cutting budgets immigrants´ aids , BUT HE WILL NOT GIVE UP CONTINUING TO ALLOW AND PROMOTE the indiscriminate arrival of these immigrants. Immigration is the big business that Canadian politicians and big businessmen have learned to exploit for their own benefit.

The problem with all these anti immigration movements is that sometimes they label ALL immigrants the same. Some people go here because their education is wasted in their home country, some people even prepare to avoid the culture shocks, or already have family living there. Filter out the bad ones, don’t close entirely.

This should not be legal. That's messed up. They're taking those jobs from people that actually need those jobs. It's not easy for people in South Asian middle class families to get these jobs as their English is not fluent so these jobs go to privileged and educated families. Never voted right but there's a kind of immigration that is happening now in the West that is simply tearing at the stability of things. Even here in Portugal, it's getting out of hand. The lobbygroups of hyperwealthy landlords that despice immigrants but are even more addicted to extreme housing prices and grazy demand will use their phone numbers in the Government to keep the gates open. Many immigrants have to bring alot of money and skills just to enter the rat race on the lowest level and be ripped off in pay dumping and rent hiking schemes. In the end everyone depending on income and on housing on rent or credit is put against each other while some make a awful lot of money doing nothing.\nAt least it would help if the create a sheme where people have to sign up to staying in places in the West for a couple of years where hands are needed.

I wished to move to Canada 12 years ago. I am American. I was told that I needed a job and that job NEEDED to be filled. This would allow me to move there. I didn't move. Now with the migration crisis, too many immigrants at one time will overload the system and overpopulate a country. I fear with the climate crisis constantly reshaping our futures, that immigration will be an ongoing problem for the entire world. I believe countries must plan for even more immigration waves due to climate change. The Earth is changing...people will be moving to save their lives, to have a future. As human beings we must adapt to these pressures and changes in our planet. Make it livable, or else face the consequences of seeing millions of people die because you were unwilling to open your borders. There is room, just get rid of the greed. This planet , its peoples,must find ways to live together. Education, to keep the planet healthy, stop overpopulation, keep the air and water clean...stop the greed are the goals we must strive to follow.

Its NOT Anti Immigration. Its the rise of unwanted people. totally different. A lot is out fault, Because if the potential immigrants were told, You need a skill, You need proof you can support yourself, If you commit ANY crime, your out. Plus you get Zero benefits, Till you pay UK Tax, for ten years, And even then No Dole payments, Most people would go with this. And Canada is way larger than the UK. Unchecked immigration and immigration in general is not ok, especially where infrastructure has not developed enough to cope with even reasonable immigration. I am from India and want to pay huge fees in dollars for my kids education in a tier 1 uni , but bcuz of these illegal immigration even genuine investors and students get labelled bcuz we look like them that's why I am sceptical to send my boy to US , fact is maximum contribution to US economy in terms of tuition fees is from India ..throw these illegal immigrant people out America !

Canada has so much space to house even 20 million more people. I mean per square inch Ontario is well bigger than the entire country of Nigeria, which boasts 300 million people...without an accommodation issue. What's wrong isn't an immigration issue because Canada advertised itself as appealing and immigration friendly, what's wrong is a housing and infrastructure issue. Ideally different people from different states in India have different experiences in Canada. Plus previous qualifications, some students here do not even get up and go to college or university to attend lectures and we blame Canada for not giving them jobs. Blame Indian movies that show 2 extremely opposite sides of lifestyles of immigrants in Canada. Either as high profile business people as if they own the country or as poor labourers with 2 or more sharing a common room in a basement. Improve the perspective of people by improving the quality of movies based on immigration to western countries. You can find students who got job, car and house in Canada in 5 years and you can also see students who unfortunately couldn’t do so much. We cannot generalize things.

Imagine if Canadians went to these people's countries en masse, worked all the jobs for cheaper, formed ethnic enclaves with businesses that didn't even include the host country's official language, refused to integrate into the host country's culture, refused to learn the language, refused to hire the host country's people, attempted to bring over their elderly, sick relatives who provide no economic benefit to strain the host country's social services, demand the host country change to suit Canadians whims, and after having ALL of these demands met, and being welcomed in with open arms, STILL played the victim and acted as if they were being oppressed

Its simply unsustainable. Most countries cannot even help their own people, so why are they letting more illegal immigrants in the country. The governments are doing this so they can have more control, raise taxes, and gain more power. They need to focus on a strategy for teaching our citizens and legal immigrants how to thrive

Canada has to start recognising degrees from other countries. Here in B.C. we have emergency rooms closing overnight due to lack of staffing. We need doctors and nurses yet the barriers for those immigrating to get their degrees recognised mean many never qualify.\n\nCanada also needs to look at who we are admitting in and to terminate the family unification policy. When immigration was helping the country grow there was a different demographic coming in. Often it was single men or young married couples. As they came by themselves they assimilated into the mosiac of the country. When you concentrate on immigrants from one country instead of assimilating they setup ethnic communities. \n\nLook into what study groups have said that is contributing to gang violence. It's ethnic groups that have the grandparents, parents and grand kids all living in one home. The grandparents want the grand kids to adhere to their native culture. Unfortunately by time you get to the grand kids they are Canadian. They speak English/French depending where they live with little interest in speaking their ethnic language. There is cultural conflict within the home hence street life is where they find love and caring.\n\nSome cultures are not as community minded. Part of the high cost of renting/housing is based on greed not need. In my own community I know of apartment units now renting at 2,500 - 4,000/month owned by the same people that even five years back you could have rented for 500 - 800. There is no justification for that percentage of increase other than greed.\n\nJob opportunities. Summer employment for school kids is going down yearly. You see local business that use to hire students over the summer month claiming they can't find any workers. They bring in TFW yet Canadian students can't find work. You can tell the owners nationality of a business by the nationality of the workforce. A local store bought by a east Indian two years ago which at the time had a diverse workforce is now entirely staffed by east Indians. Yet who screams racist? \n\nCanada definitely needs to reconsider its immigration policy and bring in major changes.

It is not the immigration policy problem.. It is the quality of people who are being considered for immigration (based only money now a days unlike in the past). In the 70s & 80s it is Ph.Ds, Highly technically qualified people around the world who were given Immigrant visas/citizenship... But these days, all junkies from war torn nations, third world criminals and their children (with money) getting into Canadian universities. Earlier, Universities used to conduct exams at off shore centres and select candidates but now a days it looks like Universities are bankrupt and ready to take in anybody with money thanks to agents of these education institutes( These agents make even a Donkey with money Qualify for university admission !) Those who get into these universities are more interested in all other things except Studies....So Quality immigration is more important than Quantity imigratikn. Hope Canadian Govt will take a critical look into this aspect. We xan not see developed cojntries having this anarchy on the streets on a daily basis.

Man I can't believe things are always getting out of hand. Everyday every week it's always getting out of hand. Someone told me the other day, the homeless people in traffic asking for money are getting out of hand. Even though there's been tent cities for at least 8 years now. Seems like it's going to be getting out of hand for years and years and will never actually be bad. ?

Although I agree with this, the majority of Canadians want a left wing government , it was elected by the people. As I always say democracy is the best system even though at times you may get leaders you don't agree with.

Please, blame the govt. I don’t think citizens or immigrants are to blame. Finding stable work in Canada is a challenge these days even for permanent residents/new citizens. No guarantee of work even after acing an interview and building skills as needed. At this point I feel like immigrants are just tax paying scapegoats, who are used by the government and hated by local people. This is not real inclusiveness. Govt must give priority to their citizens and encourage immigration if there are real opportunities to offer. Everyone needs work and stability inorder to live a civilized and stable life.
