My son who saved for over 5yrs had enough for a down payment for a mortgage, but the rates are sky high and there aren't even any houses for him to attempt to purchase. Where are his special treatments and help?

the freezing of bank accounts is a bigger issue than just the Trucker rally freezing. To anyone who owns a business in Canada that has ever been through an Audit with the CRA, you know these kids have no idea what they are doing and and way too much power. In my case they actually said they wont accept half my receipts because of the format they were saved in. I had two formats, and they said I could only pick 1 format for them to work with- so immediately from the start the AUDIT would be incorrect, I called it out and refused to pay the fake amount and they froze my bank account--with employees not getting paid. It is clearly irresponsible to operate a business in Canada under that kind of behaviour. Keeping a business in Canada is dangerous. I left. Dont even get me started on what my Doctor said about not treating my low functioning kidneys until they fail!

I think the system was designed intentionally to empty immigrants pockets and then push them out. Sell Canadian Dream, bring as much immigrants as possible. Make them pay crazy rents and keep them in never attainable certification limbo. By the time they realize they are already exploited by the system. They will end up spending all their life savings and youth in Canada doing odd low skill jobs. Cruel system for taking advantage over naive immigrants. I hope soon more and more immigrants will understand this and make wise decision of not coming to Canada at least for now.

You have tried to explain very well the initial struggle faced by new immigrants. This does take years and sometimes decades to settle down properly in a new country for first generation. First generation Indians try to save as much as they can while cutting corners. Things have relatively become much easier as there are plenty of jobs for those who have professional degrees and substantial experience. I personally found Canadian bachelor of engineering was far superior than masters of computer science in USA. I enjoyed spending four years in downtown Toronto while full time studying in late 80’s before moving back to USA. Someone else mentioned here in previous thread that all of their friends are much better off in India. I feel more or less the same way in spite of having three engineering degrees and 40 years experience. I am strong believer in Karmas, your destiny will take you where you’re supposed to be. I was born and raised here, and like you I love my city. There's always something to do and see. But I feel so tied into this city, it's hard for me to imagine leaving. Any savings had will be spent traveling in all the time, especially when I work for TIFF in September. I've been lucky so far in living here and Mississauga, but even my luck is running out.

If Canada is willing to recognize foreign credentials then why bother educating any Canadians at all in Canada? Why don't we just import all our teachers, nurses, doctors, etc. ? We'd save a lot of tax dollars not having to fund any Canadian universities.

If I can afford a home, why would I want to leave? The housing crisis is a big deal for many. You can't find suitable rental in the GTA when you make well over 120k cad a year. It's not just the barriers in professions. It's the lies about prosperity and growth fed to the immigrants. You just need to work hard, and you'll live your dream is a lie. Immigrants end up eating from their savings instead of saving. Fix the housing crisis, invest in public education and health, and no will will want to leave this beautiful country. The more you earn, the more you are taxed and if you are a single earner in your family, you're punished for it. I don't want to go out and work and leave my kids in daycare when my husbad is doing a good job. I don't want my kids being raised by strangers while me and my husband struggle to maintain a decent lifestyle. When 120k isn't enough for a family of 5, it's time to leave.

As a Canadian, I want to leave. This country is shameful and the politicians are corporate puppets who don't care about citizens or social stability. No one I know owns a house (we're in our 30s in Toronto) and very few people can even save up due to rising cost of living. The censorship and blocking of news is so dystopic. The main problem in Canada is unaffordable housing rentals, and overpricing mortgage. The income of 2 people is just to pay the rental or mortgage. No chance for the new immigrants to save money as most of them working hard to pay their debts, utilities, and others.

Who in the hell would now want to immigrate to Canada ? Outrageous housing costs which consume most of your income . One has to work at least two to three jobs just to try to keep from completely drowning economically . A healthcare system which is on life support . It is next to impossible to get a doctor . Emergency waits times at hospitals can range from 4 to 24 hours . Traffic from hell in all of the major cities .... particularly Toronto , Montreal and Vancouver . The crushing cost of living . A political leader who is a complete fool who has basically destroyed the country in just 8 years . As if all of this wasn't bad enough ...... 5 months of winter from hell . Living in Canada is now an extreme struggle in every way imaginable . One will always struggle . One will always work like a dog . One will very likely fall into extreme debt in Canada just to survive . One has to pay outrageous taxes on their income leaving them with about 50% of what they actually earn after they have paid all of the combined taxes on everything that they buy or services that they use . Forget about ever being able to save money . Incomes are about about 35% less than other advanced than those in other advanced countries for the same skilled job . One will never own a home . One will never be able to start a family . One will always freeze in the winter . Life in Canada has become an absolute hell . The Canadian dream is as dead as dead can be . It is no longer a country where one can earn a decent living , own a home and live a good life . On top of all of this it has an authoritarian government which keeps passing new laws to reduce free speech and civil rights .
