Not only is it bad for canada, the unsuspecting immigrants will end up finding their quality of life is even worse than where they come from because of the insane cost of living, broken infrastructures, widespread racisim...it benefits nobody

I had immigrated to Canada 34 years ago , my Canadian husband had to wait 2 years before immigration granted me visa . Nowadays it is so easy to come to this country as long as you have 20000 dollars and faked student visa , you can work instantly once you arrive. I think Liberal Party is so desperate for vote from new immigrants . I think after they graduated, they have to go back and apply for permanent visa just like the others. This way we will get quality not quantity immigrants.

Canada was not anti immigration when the people coming were needed, they wanted to contribute, and they understood and assimilated into Canadian culture. Now they come, contributing nothing, straining our health care system, causing a housing crisis, and most importantly, bringing their culture and beliefs, displacing ours. Our veterans that fought for Canada and what being Canadian meant fought for nothing as too many of this current generation has no patriotism and cares nothing about Canadian culture. Thus, we lost our country without a fight.

Im not sure they all want to go to the US. I Mexico right now, people are all wanting to go to Canada over the US. They can live and work easy in Canada, and the economy is strong. Almost as strong as the US. Most Mexicans know this and plan to go to Canada. This is why most immigrants you see coming to the US illegally are not Mexican

As a child of first generation immigrants and now lived here for 80% of my life and calling Canada my home, I empathize with how difficult coming to a new country is and the generosity of Canadians. I'm proof that the Canadian dream is possible; thanks to my teachers, social workers, friends, and community at large, I now make more money than both my parents combined, have a house and 2 dogs. While there's hard work at play, it's also the warmth of everyone that's made this a reality. I hope we can have a realistic and win-win plan of integrating immigrants, provide immigrants and residents the opportunity to work hard towards their dreams so we can ALL live a better life.

If we can accept the reality than no matter how many measures you introduced you cant stop people from coming here we can focused on preparing when they do. Influx of immigrants means more workers, consumers. Many of these people who can be potential tax payers with none of the benefits like social security. Canada brought in 1 million immigrants from Jan 2021- Dec 2023, a 2.5% population increase. That, would be the equivalent of 8.75 million immigrants coming across the southern border over 2 years. Canada doesn't have jobs or housing for many, there's no checks and balances to see who are criminals. America needs to close their borders because 13000 asylum seekers is only the beginning. More and more immigrants to Canada are finding out it's too expensive to live here, and they have no future here. That, will force them south before they choose to go back to where they came from.

Canada has accepted an insane amount of Uber / amazon driving immigrants over the past few years to boost the GDP, unfortunately our infrastructure across the country is lacking. We don't have enough homes, schools, hospitals, doctors, good jobs for the people that are already here. Immigrants are conned and sold a lie, going to the USA only makes sense. The thing about Canada is the the unaffordable housing crisis is also tied to high unemployment and too many immigrants coming in from the Far East and Middle East countries. Now that they are closer to the US with the best job opportunities in the world currently it’s best to come here at all cost. If it drives up home prices and rents no problem because the government is dangerous when it’s in debt needs higher tax revenue. It’s screws with the population that’s already here.

I know all about the immigration crisis at the US/Mexico border but I had no idea they were coming in through Canada. What the hell is going on !? Now Canada has an immigration crisis !? "Thousands fleeing extreme poverty" - wake up my friend. When you live under extreme poverty, you can't afford to travel by plane or even buy a suitcase. Solution is easy, we have the most powerful military on the planet, the lack of desire to solve it by the government is problem. We have them coming in from the borders to Vermont, Maine and NH. The Natives on the Maine reservations are helping them across the border. My friend’s hunting camps in northern Maine are occupied by illegal squatters, and they are already showing up in the courts in all of these states. Doctors and Lawyers don’t sneak across borders, neither do legal immigrants. And every immigrant coming through Ellis Island was registered and had applied in the old country... no excuses. Most of the new illegals are illiterate in their own country.

Weird because thousands of migrants have been coming through the US into Canada for years. Of course the US and Canadian governments are both complicit in this. Both directions. I think most economic migrants soon realize that Canada is totally too expensive for anyone to get by and soon try to return to the US. Crazy, they should all be made to return to their places of origin and immigrate legally.

Now that Canada is on the downward trend due to no housing, no jobs, inflation and unsanctioned immigration, I can GUARANTEE that you will get a huge influx of illegal immigrants who hop the border. They get into Canada legally (since we accept anybody without backgroud checks) and once they discover how tough life is here they make a run for the USA. Canada was never their final destination just a pit stop before they head to America. Canada needs some serious help and legislation when it comes to this. Our infrastructure and culture are at a serious risk of being permanently damaged due to this. Our federal election is in October 2025 and even if we get a politcal party change I fear that nothing will ultimately change for the good.

A lot of the immigrants coming are just middle-class but in other countries. my sister-in-law took in some Venezuelans and all they cared about was visiting New York City to take pictures with the Statue of Liberty. I sell used clothes and my sister-in-law took them to my shop and they did not want the clothes because it was used. These people are ungrateful.

As a Canadian - the immigration tom-foolery that is happening is just as bad up here. Our Prime Minister is a handsome idiot, he was a drama teacher before he became Prime Minister (I know, make that one make sense). He has no idea what he's doing, he's being used as a puppet for more experienced extortionists-erm-politicians. With the help of his party members and a coalition with another party, in less than ten years he has taken Canada from a great place to visit and live to basically what's happening in NY. Crime in our cities has gone up dramatically. Theft is on the rise. Homelessness and drug use is through the roof. Immigration is out of control. And our government also prioritizes immigrants and asylum seekers before born and raised Canadian citizens. As a Canadian who is tired of the nonsense that's been happening in the world this past decade, I wish our government would put on their big boy pants and do something about this uncontrolled immigration. Things are bad here too. Our government seems to keep changing policies and laws to further accomodate the insanity that is happening, I promise, not every Canadian wants these changes to happen. We are just as sick and tired of all this nonsense as our American cousins. I wouldn't be surprised if both countries at some point united in objective and worked together to fix this problem - but that's not gonna happen anytime soon as long as these dummies are in power. But believe me, the regular people of Canada see what you're going through because it's also happening in our own back yard. The best way to deal with this is to make them more afraid of coming here than they are of staying where they came from. The blame for the immigration crisis really lies on the governments of the countries these people are coming from. If they had not failed their people, they wouldn't need to leave and go somewhere else
