I came to Calgary in 1983, and since then, I've seen Canada change for the better and worse. I moved back to my native country of Malaysia in 1997 and lived and worked there until 2012. I can honestly say that my native country is so much cheaper to live. I don't need to wait months to see a specialist and wait over an hour to see my family doctor despite already booking an appointment. Doctors just want to get you out of their office fast so they can see more patients. Got a second health concern, well, book another appointment. What a joke! In Malaysia, I can get full body check-ups, including x-ray, ECG, and blood work, including results the same day. What's the use of free health care if the service takes donkey months? I've decided to move back to Malaysia in about two year's time and enjoy the warm weather and cheaper cost of living. Canada is a GREAT country, but the elected government just screwed things up. Will miss the Calgary Stampede for sure.

I still want to call Canada a good country but why things are so expensive now? There must be a supply chain monopoly that needs to be crushed by the government so whoever is upstairs please do help us

Some people want to take it all from Canada and not ready to spend a moment to support or understand or be a part of the solution in Canada .. Canada deserves better than such immigrants :(

Canada's not the same as current PM has ruined it. Chaos will get worse before it gets better with a new leader to fix it. Immigrant's always entered through Sask because it was the easiest to get citizenship. When term was over they went West or East. There are 2 types of immigrant's today, those who want a chance for better life and adapt and those who want to destroys our values (which's' what what we're seeing today). Being born and raised in Sask doesn't feel like home anymore into today's world. East and West looks worse. I'd be happier living abroad!! I think it's good that we run this kind of story. Most landlords especially for condos like this one in Toronto, are owned by regular folks who still work a job and have budgets and families. They aren't greedy, they aren't big corporations; they're just people who bought investment properties and want to rent them out for a price. Canada needs landlords because not every can or even wants to buy real estate.\n\nWhen you see stories like this, which I think are outliers, they're good reminders that being a landlord is risky and income properties don't print money. It's also a reminder to good tenants (which are most tenants) that your landlord isn't being paranoid when they ask for references, proof of income, etc. They would rather scare you off then be saddled with a non-paying, non-leaving tenant (rare as they may be) and they don't know you (and you don't know them).

Still plenty of opportunities in Canada? I watched and saw more than a few vloggers like yourself wanting to leave Canada. A few stated costs of living and shrinking opportunities. If you are a person with a good job where you are living, I would not encourage him/her to migrate to Canada. It used to be a great country, but not so much now, with slowly in decline; Neoliberalism and Trudeau and gov. has ruined it.

A country that need more educated folks should allow it . Canada need people correct? As for pakistan ; they should figure out why people want to leave . Perhaps it’s something to do with corruption and leadership and a shit show .

I left Canada in 2021 and came back this week for the first time. I am in complete shock I honestly don’t know how people survive. I bought a TRAVEL SIZE conditioner, soap, eyebrow pencil and toothpaste and the total was $47 at shoppers ??. I went to a restaurant with a friend. we shared a meal and got two kid size meals for her kids and 2 glasses of wines . The total was almost $200. Since I’ve been abroad for a while I wanted to go to the doctors and utilize my work insurance. Impossible! Wait time is 3-4 weeks just for an initial meeting. It would be easier for me to pay out of pocket abroad than use the “free” services Canada ( and my job) offers. I have no children and work in tech and I’m grateful but even working in this field I wouldn’t be able to have a quality life living here. It’s so sad I was born and raised here but I see no future for myself in Canada.

It's not anti-immigration sentiment. It's opposing millions of people invading your country and being paid more than you are to live in apartments that you can't afford to rent. These people fled poor economic conditions - not persecution - into Canada in exchange for being paid a monthly stipend of $2,000 a month, free rent, free healthcare, free internet, free phone, and free education. They receive these benefits and are forbidden from working legally. Thus, they are not expected to work.\n\nMost people support immigrants that want to move into a country to work, want to learn the language, the culture, and want to become citizens in the future. None of these are expected to, and roughly half of these otherwise illegal immigrants are Chinese men ages 19 to 30.

The fact is that this is Canada and it has or at least had it's own culture, language and identity. I want to continue to feel like I am living in Canada and not in India, if I wanted to feel like being in India, I would move there.

Canada can fix this with real estate investors help. The problem is supply and demand. If there are more rental units and homes to buy, renters win. Investors like me want to see renters win. People are supposed to rent save up money and then buy their own homes.

Because Canadians are seeing their country disappear in front of their eyes. For a country with such a massive landmass, Canada's population is microscopic. If mass migration goes unchecked for just a few generations, Canada won't be Canada any more. The maple leaf will be replaced by a crescent moon... The same thing is happening all over western countries, and it is being done on purpose against the wishes of the majority. Mass migration from African and Middle Eastern countries is changing demographics at a frightening pace, and people are rightly concerned by that. It's completely reasonable and sensible for one to want to preserve one's culture and national identity. People have fought and died for thousands of years for such things. \n \nThe fact that so many cultures and nations exist around the world is one of the things that makes our planet interesting. It's why people travel. If I go to Japan, for instance, I want to feel the difference in the way of life, but if Japan suddenly opened its door to mass migration, I wouldn't any more. So Japan doesn't open its door to mass migration, and what would you know? Japan still resembles Japan.

To allow groups of people who do not hold our beliefs outnumber us then the country will no longer hold our beliefs and we will be the ones without a home. Instead of letting others join ours. It’s not racism to want to keep your homes way of life. The country’s most come from are not returning the same kindness.

The real issue is Canada is letting in the trash other nations that they no longer want. The people coming into Canada are the people who cant make it in their own countries. What makes you think they will stand any chance here? We need to let in skilled workers in industries that have demand instead of letting random non working people looking for hand outs because hey cannot make it in their country. The when they do come here, they cannot come to Toronto or Vancouver because they simply cannot afford it. Go where you are needed and stand a chance, the country is vast and in need of people outside of the metros

I can't believe all the nonsense that was said on this video! Of course you have to learn the language, if you want to work in Germany!!! Has any of you tried to immigrate to Canada or the US? Nobody is going to give you a job, unless you can communicate in the local language! That is the same all over the world! European union countries have all got good social services and health systems. You want to benefit from the system? Then you of course have to be able to communicate! \nThe process is the same everywhere you go. The first generation of immigrants fight to learn the language and integrate, BUT their kids will get that for free and be integrated through the school system.

That’s why I’m leaving Canada. I’m not raising my kids there, I don’t want to live there for the rest of my life, it’s more unsafe than it was when I grew up, it’s unaffordable. I want to buy a house one day and I’ll never be able to do that in Canada. So, I’m out.

I don't think I really want to know how much it's costing born and raised Canadians to support the immigrants that are coming. I knew that we were in trouble back in 2009 when Ruby Dhalla wanted immigrant seniors to be able to collect from the canada pension plan after three years, instead of the ten years.

I am from Pakistan and all my friends and relatives moved to UK, US, Australia and Canada. When I say all I mean 18 out of 20 left Pakistan and they don't want to come back to Pakistan ever because who doesn't want a better lifestyle for themselves and for their future generations but my father advised me never to leave your country because no matter what other countries will never accept you as their own citizens. Instead of leaving your country try to make it better. \n\nToday I see exactly that happening throughout the world. They want their countries back and you see their hearts filled with hatred against these immigrants. Sooner or later these immigrants will have to sell everything and come back to their countries. Typical media hack headline…..the majority of people are not against immigration, it is against the uncontrolled illegal migration of people into the country. Canada has to start recognising degrees from other countries. Here in B.C. we have emergency rooms closing overnight due to lack of staffing. We need doctors and nurses yet the barriers for those immigrating to get their degrees recognised mean many never qualify.\n\nCanada also needs to look at who we are admitting in and to terminate the family unification policy. When immigration was helping the country grow there was a different demographic coming in. Often it was single men or young married couples. As they came by themselves they assimilated into the mosiac of the country. When you concentrate on immigrants from one country instead of assimilating they setup ethnic communities. \n\nLook into what study groups have said that is contributing to gang violence. It's ethnic groups that have the grandparents, parents and grand kids all living in one home. The grandparents want the grand kids to adhere to their native culture. Unfortunately by time you get to the grand kids they are Canadian. They speak English/French depending where they live with little interest in speaking their ethnic language. There is cultural conflict within the home hence street life is where they find love and caring.\n\nSome cultures are not as community minded. Part of the high cost of renting/housing is based on greed not need. In my own community I know of apartment units now renting at 2,500 - 4,000/month owned by the same people that even five years back you could have rented for 500 - 800. There is no justification for that percentage of increase other than greed.\n\nJob opportunities. Summer employment for school kids is going down yearly. You see local business that use to hire students over the summer month claiming they can't find any workers. They bring in TFW yet Canadian students can't find work. You can tell the owners nationality of a business by the nationality of the workforce. A local store bought by a east Indian two years ago which at the time had a diverse workforce is now entirely staffed by east Indians. Yet who screams racist? \n\nCanada definitely needs to reconsider its immigration policy and bring in major changes.

I’m not Muslim but I can understand some of these reasons why you’d want to leave Canada…Canadas not merely diverse anymore it’s diluted, money & bills culturalism is the real identity…it’s hard then ever to acquire personal wealth in the socialist nation. Still one of the cleanest & safest though…isolated crimes yes, bigoted & discriminatory somewhat but the irony is it’s mostly from the new immigrants that bring it from their own war torn etc countries. Canada needs better immigration laws. Also better screening for those who are chosen to stay. I’ve Hurd of so many people coming to Canada just to live off of welfare and child support benefits, and many who actually want to stay to work and continue a career are deported.

I am English and when in the sixties I wanted to live in B C Canada I had to go to the Canadian Embassy in London with my husband for an interview….How I loved it, My husband went first and got a job straight away and i went six weeks later …My son and grandchildren are Canadian but sadly none now live in Canada…….Trudeau has ruined your wonderful country and the influx of so called migrants has destroyed it ..We now in England are overflowing with people flooding this country that have no business being here ..Why don’t they stay in their own country and build it up instead of coming to ours and dragging it down to the cutter….

Scapegoating? It's simple supply and demand, and nothing can change it. Socialism won't fix it, importing impoverished people won't fix it, legislation won't fix it. You have to attract people with the proper skillsets to make the country and city better. Having a booming population and no room to grow doesn't do that. The California Bay Area and Los Angeles area has already seen the problems this causes, companies and skilled workers are moving to places that they can afford to live and build companies. With more people comes less opportunities, Canada needs to learn from the mistakes of others. Do not take everyone, take those who want a better life but can also give back to the country.

It's because everywhere in Canada is turning into India. Our ways are being bulldozed out of existence by their ways. It's not all bad. But people want to be able to live the lifestyle they grew up with. Restaurants and bars being bought up and all turned into Indian restaurants. 30 within 4 blocks is ridiculous. All i hear when I go out for a walk is obnoxiously loud Indian music. To be clear, I love Indian culture, food, customs and views on family. But I think it's so important for Canada's identity to keep a variety and not have 1 culture with no interest in co-existing with the beautiful blend that is Canada.
