Kanaltoe Harris: What border crisis?'
2023-03-18 0
As a Canadian citizen (born and raised) those migrants from New York should move overseas (AKA our nextdoor overseas neighbour UK/EU). Canada is dealing with crisis right now (not only caused by not only both our Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and our Canadian Premier Doug Ford but also the Russian President that started the war that screwed up Canadian gas prices). \n\nWhat Americans hear about Canada is a split 50/50. Yeah Canada has free health care. But when you reach 25+ you have to pay your own.. unless you have insurance. Also in the province where I live tax percentage here is DANG 13%. It's DANG expensive because Canadian dollar is not as strong as the big 4 (USD/UK Pounds/Europe Euros/Japan Yen). The only province that pays little-to-none taxes is the province of Alberta Canada.\n\nAll-in-all I advise migrants that live in US: DO NOT live in Canada because Canada is a sh*t country. And you'll be screwed by both the Trudeau and Doug Ford Government.

Not a border crisis btw.
2023-03-18 0
How does CNN belittle and downplay the US border crisis? Video provided.
2023-03-18 0
The Biden administration has created this humanitarian crisis.
2023-03-18 0
Wow the usa shipping their border crisis to Canada because Biden is too stupid and weak to do something??
2023-03-18 0
Why don’t we just declare a humanitarian crisis like Somalia or invade like Kuwait cuz until we stop the gangs/cartels and traffickers the violence will continue
2023-03-18 0
Only have two people to thank, Joe Biden for open borders AND Kamala Harris for not doing her fucking assignment to solve the southern border crisis.
2023-03-18 0
And action ?️ as the crisis actors flood the zones. Border disorder?\nEverything they give us on the idiot box is fake. Creating chaos for a future agenda
2023-03-17 0
White countries like Canada and USA don't want anymore brown people unless there's world political gains like taking in refugees in a crisis.
2023-03-17 0
I laugh CNN, you report immigrants going into Canada and you don't hold Biden Administration to account on your own border crisis.

In 2010 I had a one way ticket to Florida to visit some friends. At the airport they pulled me aside and said that if I didn’t come back to Canada within 14 days I’d never be allowed back into America again. I was traumatized and never went back. But here we are 13 years later and I can just walk wherever I want to go on this side of the world lol…but for real, this is sad. If you aren’t used to Canadian temperatures your in trouble. Hope everyone is okay. It is rough though, I was in a shelter for two months, but some families were there for almost a year because of the housing crisis. I’m not exactly sure how this will work. ?
2023-03-17 0
This is the responsibility of humanity. No one country. Where is the Organization of American States with this hemisphere crisis?
2023-03-17 0
We are truly facing a crisis if there’s another terrorist attack blame our government and the president you elected
2023-03-17 0
In Quebec we already have over 40000 of these illegals living on government checks, taking space during a housing crisis, taking healthcare when the system is overloaded, sending their children to overloaded schools (Relative to the numbers of teachers) with them not contributing at all... they are making it harder for people to have families during a period of low birthrates. Even legal migrants aren't contributing to key jobs, they come here, try to get elite positions and cry about racism when they don't get them, go to university with the help of the government while most natives cannot even dream of higher education.\n\nMass migration in Canada is an epic failure in a time when we aren't supposed to mess up.
2023-03-16 0
THANKS BAIDEN......FOR ALL CRISIS IN AMERICA
2023-03-16 0
To avoid showing Americans our southern border chaos, CNN films a snippet about Canadas illegal crisis! That a boy!!!!
2023-03-15 0
There’s currently over 8 million foreigners occupying Canadian homes, causing the national housing crisis, healthcare backlog and inflation \nEvery single one of them has to be deported immediately
2023-03-15 0
Immigration laws exist for a reason. The audacity of illegals. Their blatant disregard for our process. Bunch of fools that risk their lives and their children’s lives in brutal winter conditions. Meanwhile Canada is in the midst of a housing crisis. Middle class families having to use food banks. We can barely provide for our own. Meanwhile Canadian police continue to act as bellhops. What a joke.
2023-03-14 0
look at the rate at which they enter other countries by force, what if they become citizens of the United States, they will be even more destroyed, this is called a population crisis.
2023-03-13 0
Of the powerful countries help the crisis in the other countries to be stopped the immigrants stay in their country
2023-03-13 2
Meanwhile legal immigrants are suffering extended delays in their applications and extensions, many of which already have jobs or have employment waiting for them in Canada. Many are forced to return to their original countries because the immigration system in Canada is so backlogged. Oh, and FYI we have a countrywide housing crisis too.
2023-03-13 0
Exactly where is this mythical land called Canada ? ? seriously , this nation needs people who are willing to work , too many Canadians are just not willing to break a sweat Truth be told this country is one of the most accepting Yet we can't just let the borders become overwhelmed with migrants seeking a better life, Canada is in crisis with few places available to rent and owning a home here is out of reach for most Canadians along with a growing homeless population a huge drug problem The future is very unclear.
2023-03-13 0
Why not stay in Canada? There's a low population crisis in Canada. They'll be welcomed there.
2023-03-13 0
Seven million illegals when America has a massive homeless crisis, housing crisis, the democrats cry there is no housing but flood America with seven million illegals, the democrats lie lie lie , flood America and take over local cities and force them to build housing towers with no restrictions ???????????
2023-03-13 0
Bidens border crisis. if the people wont vote how you want, no problem. switch em out for a more docile and managable populace whos already use to the goverment telling em whats what.
2023-03-13 0
Yep, no border crisis here ?

I was taken off my family doctor's list because I haven't visited them in 1 year. Now I cant find a family doctor when I need one. Canada should pay urgent attention to the crisis in their medical system and worry about international politics later.

methadone isnt being paid to junk up as you say and everyone everywhere talks about the homeless crisis in canada what rock are living under

I think every single thing you two had told us is 100% true. Because I am one of them living in the crisis condition. Have you guys heard about the Prime Minister Justine Trudeau promise he will help every single Canadian for Financial? But He actually did not do it for every Canadian at all. My name is Kevin Tran. I had received Covid-19 CERB, CRB Benefit when My EI was ran out in 2019. during the Pandemic. Guess what??? Now I have received a Letter from CRA? I am now owing the CRA OVER $25000. Dollars!!!\nDoes any body in this World knows? With the low income person like me,(less than $20000./Annually). How many YEARS, Will I work to save the $25000., and “PAY BACK” to the CRA in Canada???!!! Could any one in this Country tell me, when the Government promising to help their Citizens then ask them to pay back after the Pandemic is Over??? Is this the Type of situations that ever happening to Other G7 countries in the world??? I have not seen yet, but in Canada now I am seeing it happen to my life and Over 400000 files from other People in this Country had been called to pay back the money when they received in the Crisis situation.!!!\nThank You Very Very Much for the True information that you had share with every one in this country. Freedom Of Speech rights???!!! One more important thing, I personally want to share with all Canadians? Most of the Companies in Canada. No matter how good you can be, how hard you works for the Employers? Most of them, They will never consider to give Employees a raise on Salary for YEARS, I Meant for YEARS….Ok??? Wake Up every One!!!! They Don’t Care for Hard Working People. Never and Ever.!! Maybe There is some Exception For Certain People!! I hope you know What I meant.???!!!

I moved to Canada in 2003, I think over the past few years things really took a turn for the worst and alot of the issues we're encountering now are mostly a result of government incompetency \n\n1) Instead of focusing on treatment and recovery we prioritized harm reduction and drug decriminalization which largely results in the current mental health/addiction crisis \n\n2) Instead of seeing housing as a public need, policies make housing investment vehicles (notably for rich folks in foreign countries) and locals can't really afford to buy or rent as a result\n\n3) Instead of building mass transit infrastructure including subways/light rail we continue to be extremely car-centric, most Canadians can't get around without a car but also can't really afford one due to all the costs associated with ownership. \n\n\n4) Government continues to cut back on healthcare spending despite an aging population across the country\n\nAnd one nongovernment-related aspect which is NIMBYism -- endless delays/protests on all major projects because someone is afraid their backyard views might be obstructed or some old trees might be cut.

Of course, the police would do nothing after the flq crisis they appointed lortie and rose to political positions, this activity will continue in quebec.

Canadians cannot be evicted, although they can be aborted. This is why rents are so high, and why there will be a crisis with old people coming soon.
2023-01-23 0
Welcome to the party of those who thought Canada is actually is an advanced country LOL. Everything is currently broken: Rent is off the roof, houses are completely unfordable (whether getting a down payment, or actually paying mortgages of 350000 minimum in Montreal for instance/~2500 per month). Pharmacy shelves for basic stuff like Advil are empty and some people need to drive to the US to get their kids fever and pain medication. What you talked about here is the healthcare crisis which was the first one I noticed and all of that is true. And to add insult to injury, they're increasing taxes this year in a country where more than ever people are going to food banks to get well... FOOD... what a fucking joke. I'm working on my return and can't wait to take my one ticket back to my country, Canada is not worth it anymore and highly advise anyone considering to come here to re-consider whether it's worth it to live in a cold country, highest taxes rate, far away from your family, for basically NOTHING in return.

It's not housing crisis. Its housing colonialism. It's not inflation. It's price gouging.
2023-01-17 0
While I know this may sound like I’m typing this ironically, given the Flint Water Crisis, some Michigan areas have some damn good tap water too. Nothing like waking up half drunk in the warm morning and drinking some cold tap water straight from the faucet ?
2023-01-16 0
No wonder there is a housing crisis for Canadians.
2023-01-05 0
Incredible Journalism. This cost of living crisis needs to be dealt with. Thank you CBC.
2023-01-03 0
You are 100 percent correct. Why the eff do ppl move here, given all those crappy facts you just exposed? 1.5 m new immigrants is a disaster for locals, we already don't have enough, resources, housing, jobs, competent staff, doctors, hospital resources, airport resources, police, fire ect to cater and meet the needs of Local citizens, 1.5 pouring into a country of 30 with 1 last year is a pure crisis. Canada is all about creating crisis. Housing crisis, the next will be the immigration crisis. You watch! The country has already gone down the toilet, it is over for Canada.
2023-01-02 0
A very bad policy that will only serve to exacerbate the affordable housing crisis and create even more social tensions and environmental degradation. The government is increasing the number of immigrants to serve an ideology of ever increasing economic growth, which simply means ever increasing levels of production and consumption with the natural consequences of rising levels of pollution, vanishing pristine areas, shrinking wildlife populations and forest cover, etc, etc. Do we really want to be a country so committed to American style economic policies that we will give away all that is sacred and unique about our land so that the government has a larger tax base?
2023-01-02 0
A very bad policy that will only serve to exacerbate the affordable housing crisis and create even more social tensions, The government is icreasing the number of immigrants to

I always wonder how does Canada welcome 440,000 immigrants coming from overseas every year despite the housing crisis, lack of adequate jobs, poor health care system with very less number of doctors & health practitioners, weak economy, expensive cost of living triggering people to skip meals and leading them to malnutrition, extravagant taxation and very restrictive policy on hiring professional workers. How come a country in such a dire situation accommodate to welcome nearly half a million immigrants annually ?
2022-12-25 0
Mass immigration and illegals immigrants… made housing crisis and less jobs for Canadians

You're not correct about the Quebec government banning the hijab - actually they ban all forms of religious expression in clothes worn at work by public servants - so don't criticize us unless you get the facts straight. All countries are facing public health crisis especially in the aftermath of a global pandemic, you mention how long it could take to get an MRI - weeks/months, but it's no worse than in the UK, or other western countries. I do agree with you about limited competition in banking and tech - but we're still a young and growing country, however, look at the global recession that took place in 2007 - Canada was least affected by mortgage default, the US was hit the worst and hundreds of thousands had their homes foreclosed by the Banks, yet in Canada because of our strict banking policies we were saved and the Banks worked with defaulters to try to keep their homes. Taxes, well most countries require you to file your own taxes at the end of the year - what's so strange about that? Yes sales tax is added onto the sales price depending on what province and what you are purchasing, same as US, just because it's not the same in Europe doesn't mean it's worse! Listen, when you're a newcomer to any country you need to fit in when looking for a job, put in the effort, take the time, do the work, any country is going to expect you to be able to speak the language and know the lingo, so I don't agree with your analysis that Canadians are risk adverse! You are 100% correct about the housing crisis, listen it's been going on everywhere for decades, and international investors in the past 10 years or so woke up and noticed that Canada was a great bet for investment, so the problem got really bad. The government just passed a 2 year moratorium on non Canadians buying real estate - as have many other countries, so fingers crossed no more new foreign landlords just regular Canadians buying their first homes, let's hope so!! I've lived many years in Europe - and I loved it! But the quality of life in Canada is better. If you don't live in the crowded city you can have a nice property with lots of space, good roads, not bad school system, very friendly and helpful people. Quebec has some of the best food on the North American continent, we have clean air and lots of water in Canada - I'm very happy here, so don't be so negative please!

Housing crisis (slow land approval process; too much regulation; expensive labor; extremely low new housing starts; skyrocketing demand fuelled by immigration coupled with poor supply; foreign investors) \nInefficient healthcare (low supply of family doctors; long wait times for specialist appointments; surgeries, advanced eyecare; dental care; unacceptable wait times in emergency care centers)\nHigh living costs (groceries. phone bills, auto insurance; gas price, rent, car buying)\nPoor infrastructure (slow mode of transport due to overcrowding in big cities, union culture at TTC, lack of affordable tollways)\nUnion culture (lack of creativity, risk averse attitude, entitlement mindset)

The Montreal newspaper of December 2, 2022 Quebec - Canada \n \nInfo-Sante: Quebec calls on retired nurses to the rescue \nNo short-term improvement in emergencies, admits Dubé \n \nThe Quebec Health Minister Dube on the defensive \nThe current crisis in Quebec hospitals was at the heart of the very first parliamentary contest in the National Assembly since the elections. The Minister of Health has been the subject of crossfire from the opposition parties, which are demanding tangible results in the health plan of the CAQ. \n“There are 30% of parents who hang up on pediatric 811 because they have no service. There are 16% of people who leave the emergency room because they have no service!”, railed Liberal MP André Fortin. According to him, these figures show that the minister has simply failed. \nNot to mention the list of patients who have been waiting for surgery for a year and more, which has not diminished, despite Christian Dubé's promises. The latter has undertaken to reduce this threshold by the spring to the pre-pandemic level, that is to say to 2,500 operations. Currently, there are more than 21,000 patients on this list. \n“He reduced the list of patients waiting for surgery in Quebec by exactly 0%, zero. In fact, the list, it has increased. So, until now, his target, his commitment, his promise on the surgery waiting list has been a failure,” added the elected official from Pontiac. \nMinister Dubé claims to have recently met with medical specialists, who have undertaken to “update” the plan in the coming weeks to reduce surgeries. \nWith the variants of COVID-19 and the many viruses in circulation, the summer period was not conducive to catching up on operations. “We have to strike a balance between the hospital beds that we use either for emergencies or for surgeries. There's a housing crisis Everywhere for renters coming into the market and first time home buyers. They needs to be more co-ops. I know of huge amounts of seniors living alone that have no place to go and choose to stay in their big homes because there's no other option for them, and if there was they'd prob refuse to go anyway. My mother is one she's 88. We've been trying for 2+yrs. Anything that suddenly opens up she refuses. Lives in a small city in southern BC. More Co-op's are needed.
