as an Immigrant, I'm done immigrating for now but I get taxed net net around 45% + HST + Carbon tax + Property taxes, for all these taxes, I get really not much back. I don't qualify for most services, I don't get dental, I don't need many either, but it is putting a lot of pressure on my entrepreneurship aspirations. The healthcare is truly atrocious and still need to fly for medical appointments by good doctors since doctors here are dumber for some reason. If you want to be an entrepreneur who owns a house, Canada is not your place right now. Worst of all is the culture, highly highly introverted in a bad way, cold people, bad social skills, boring conversations and everyone seems to be high on weed. I am glad you have found something to do as a hobby but if you were in the USA you would have 4X the disposable income (and I think we all would still be complaining).

Does anyone know what exactly did this couple do for this officer to get so enraged? and even if the couple did do something wrong, is this the way to handle it?

I came as an immigrant 25 years ago. I live in Vancouver and I'd say that social isolation is big problem here. Most of my neighbours first language is something other than English and most don't speak English at all, which makes it practically impossible to ever get to know each other in any meaningful way. The way it works out is that people then get into their own ethnic groupings and eventually their children will speak fluent English and then there is some integration. But that takes a whole generation. Canada is being swamped at the moment and just how it will all work out remains to be seen.

It sucks, but they cannot try to force themselves in. They can come illegally by crossing the mountains paying high amounts of money to get smuggled in. But not by they own force. No way.

Im a proud Canadian, born and raised. But I'm NOT proud that the way things are becoming too damn expensive. The fact that even 2 income families are barely getting by speaks volumes.\n\nNot a terrible thing -- a blessing in disguise actually -- but it's now becoming the norm that adults are moving back in with their parents just to save up. But at least, even if you have a family of your own, the parents will have more time to spend with their grandchildren.

I’m a born and raised Canadian now living in Germany for 3 years, and although I agree Canadians can sometimes be difficult to befriend and get to know, I don’t agree that it’s easier to strike conversation in Germany at all ? My first months here up until a year were extremely intimidating, of course due to language barrier but also due to the fact that some Germans can come off quite harsh and the air gets heavy here. I’m from Montreal (a bit sad this city wasn’t mentioned), but I’ve never felt that way there or anywhere else in Canada tbh

The only way we can fix Canada, is to get rid of Trudeau and the liberals. They have and will continue to do as much damage to Canada as they can. I have seen a government so dedicated to destroying a country as Trudeau and his party. Truly evil.

If you move away from your home country, it takes half the time of your actual age to understand, & get used to the country you move into. \n1) Ikea also offers assembly service for which you have to pay. \n2) home owner/landlord didn’t improve noise isolation issue of their floorings. It’s normal practice of most lazy landlords who only rents their basement for reducing their mortgage cost. Or probably didn’t even know that it is doable.\n3) Employment- I am glad to see you found a skilled workplace somewhat related to your career. If you had to go through odd jobs, you would have left Canada within a month. \n4) Hospitals- Indian Government hospitals works the same way. Priorities go to life threatening patients first. But as an ex-Indian, we love spending arms and legs of money. Our loved ones survive going in private hospitals without insurance. \n5) socializing & jokes- I think you should’ve moved to Brampton so you can be part of the ghettoized community we have created there. so what day by day their crime rates are going high, we can at least understand the joke we can laugh on there. And there is no home sickness feeling.\n6) Weed!! - India has legalized alcohol, tobacco consumption. It does not mean anyone can go buy this. Even to buy legal weed in Canada you have to show your ID. At least that process is followed properly here.\n7) Vegetarian- if you want to follow a diet like this, all you have to request the restaurant to swap the meat with either potato hashbrowns, or if they have soya bean patties. \n8) Struggle- struggle is part of life. There is no requirement of whining about it. What do you need to be concerned is that you are getting an opportunity to go ahead, if you can’t get that that’s an issue. \n\nAnyways , I’m glad you made a video regarding your point of view on leaving Canada. Maybe you are not ready to mentally grow yourself being around people with different community and cultures & co-exist.

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. Look that up on W5 and Canada is doing nothing to stop this, guess where all the ones at the top of that carousel are from? As long as there are ones operating illegal business earning more than the average hard worker being able to afford higher rent the rent will not be decreased but keep going up. Saying that they are bringing in mostly younger people is a lie too, they bring in everyone. That our workers are aging out and there will be nobody to do the work. Let's think about this clearly, as the population grows we need more businesses, more schools, more produce etc... Fact we need the same amount of business for a community based on the size of the community I would think. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. Yet we have to tolerate. hmmm As said before I am neither Christian nor Jewish I am Natsarim and view those things as pagan myself but feel this world is going down the wrong path and nobody should have to cave in for the sake of others. I will stand with the Christian and I will stand with anyone that I feel are being made to turn over their ways for the sake of others and have their economy shattered in so many ways. Ask yourself what is your government really doing to protect you on so many levels? Many also come here only to study or take loans and then spend all that money they borrow and then leave, banks offer them special incentives with with welcome to Canada packages and they use it all up, buy goods, then sell them and leave. I read that it really is a problem and some have posted on quora if I owe canada money will I be arrested if I return or what will they do to me. It was quite a high amount on a special credit card he obtained that he maxed out shopping and then selling the goods. Now I know many can do that sort of thing and some by mistake, but those that have no intent to stay... The point is what is being done to protect us from purposeful frauds.

On my way to work this week, I was stopped at least 7 times by new immigrants \nwith a suitcase on wheels looking for a foodbank but could not speak a lick of \nEnglish. (They were lucky I could understand bits of their Mexican / Spanish)\n\nThey aren't my problem. They are Trudeau's problem. Canada is finished. You can't just keep taking them in without fixing the issues here first. It used to be that immigration would close when there were no jobs available or not enough housing, but now they keep flooding in due to crooked political schemes aimed at getting votes, while destroying the lives of others here who are already struggling. Then again, the majority coming in are no doubt just mooching off the tax paying workers here already, but not coming here to contribute in any way.

It's not just the exorbitant cost of living . When you come from places like Pakistan or Bangladesh Canada can seem like paradise , but if you come from Europe you discover that the tedious, monotonous way of life , where the only outlet is to get high on alcohol or drugs is not for you. You go to any major city , with the exception of Montreal , and it's a boring, boring life .

the freezing of bank accounts is a bigger issue than just the Trucker rally freezing. To anyone who owns a business in Canada that has ever been through an Audit with the CRA, you know these kids have no idea what they are doing and and way too much power. In my case they actually said they wont accept half my receipts because of the format they were saved in. I had two formats, and they said I could only pick 1 format for them to work with- so immediately from the start the AUDIT would be incorrect, I called it out and refused to pay the fake amount and they froze my bank account--with employees not getting paid. It is clearly irresponsible to operate a business in Canada under that kind of behaviour. Keeping a business in Canada is dangerous. I left. Dont even get me started on what my Doctor said about not treating my low functioning kidneys until they fail!

There is NO DREAM in Canada. The doctors, electrical engineers, and financial professionals have Big waste of time here. A very well experienced Doctor from say India has got way more practical experience and surgery. What all they need time is to get some system training. A Dentist, ophthalmologist, heart surgeons, orthopedic and so on with small training they can be easily absorb in the system after thorough check on skills.

The problem is the US, we need to fix our problems at home with immigration first!!!! \nWe have immigrants on the waiting list, doing the right thing by following the law!!! Waiting in line to have there case and situation heard.\n\n Immigrants from the 60s 80s never got free housing free food were never allowed to enter the country the way the immigrants today are just entering and they're staying in 5 star hotels in New York City never in the country's history has it been seen.\n Never in the country's history has resources from US citizens been given to immigrants I have entered illegally.\n And now if you are from Venezuela you're ahead of the line ahead of all the people that've been waiting to legalize their status these people are just getting documents faster than everybody else why is that.\n We need to fix the situation in our country first and take care of the people that are in line doing it the right way.

I've lived in Dubai (traveled to many other countries).. this is nowhere near being considered as developed anymore (GDP criteria is outdated)..Canada got developed and they forgot to update and even upgrade..!! The drug situation is so bad that I really hope that you didn't come across crackheads/homeless who are under the influence of drugs at all times.. No doubt there are way more homeless people in India, but they are working or at least trying in some way to make their life better and they never hurt you at least, here, it's the opposite, as they literally can do anything.. you can find them roaming all over on the streets of Old Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa.. You can literally find them everywhere.. someone commented earlier that you should give 2 years.. Bro or sis.. it's a complete waste as I am at the same point.. and on top of it when you invested 2 years, it even becomes tougher as it becomes even harder to go back as you have spent so much on furniture, house, car, tools, n all and most importantly - 2 YEARS of life. Banking sucks.. Still dealing through the mail (Postal mail).. (Mails not e-mails). I simply can't get that.. the tax agency - CRA sends communications through the mail, and the same with any other agency.. Comon.. grow up is what I feel at times..!! People are literally not willing to work (Except hard-working immigrants), Govt. doesn't have any plans for the future regarding the economy and development... just bringing in immigrants.. that's it..\n\nYou've made a very smart decision and really at a very good time.. wish you, and your family all the best..!!

One way or another, in EU or North America you will have better life than 90 % of world. But worse than locals. I am white European and I hardly achieve life standards of locals in neighboring country. Do not have a victim mindset. Accept how things are. In North America there is more growth, but it is a way harder to raise up family. You might need a 20 years to achieve something. Or maybe next generations will. Look Italian Americans. They have been considered dirt poor for decades by other Americans. What is source of wealth ? All around world is the same - mortgage loan. Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan says 85 % of American middle family wealth originates in mortgage loan. Loan is always eaten by inflation. Is a gift by government for hard working people. Study mortgage loan - debt - bond markets. Banks business condition. Study which skills are in drastic need in your country of living. Get skills, get salary, get loan and buy cheap. These days the hardest is to buy cheap. So be hungry and look around like tiger in the Jungle

You lost me at #2. It doesn't get talked about much because it is absolute nonsense. East Asians make more money than White Canadians. Culture matters. Two parents in the home matters. An inconvenient truth. Nine of the top ten countries from which Canada draws its immigrants are non white. Is that something a racist country would do? In the US, it seems it is way more difficult to elevate yourself if you are born to a poor family. In Canada, there seems to be more equality in that respect, in that if you are from a low income family, there is still a chance to get ahead.

The subway system needs security on each train or at each station. That's something that's missing that other countries do have! The cost of living surely has been going up! The only way to get low rent is going to the most shady places which is not safe for anyone.

1) Toronto is poor value. Getting housing of any kind (buying or renting) is stupidly expensive. And the quality you get for the price is lousy. Especially the newer builds, which are just thrown up as quickly as possible and sold to investors. Policy measures generally all seem to serve to just inflate the price of housing further. The occasional lip service given to affordability is amusing, but ultimately sad. There are lots of people who really do not want the housing bubble to pop. They will fight against it with all they have.\n\n2) It has become kind of boring. There is lots to do if you have money, but it’s harder to find entertainment on a budget. Even the free stuff like parks are filling up. Stuff like sporting events, eating out, going out is very costly across the board. Even the “cheaper” stuff is expensive. It seems like a lot of local culture is disappearing. Even the cool neighbourhoods are filling up with the same chains. I think the high commercial rent and bureaucracy is deflating a lot of would-be entrepreneurs. Most landowners seem to just be banking on cashing out their land for condos.\n\n3) Canada overall has a high cost of living compared to salaries. In the US you can find lower cost of living areas that still give you a real city experience. And in Europe you can be poor but still live a decent, if no frills, life. In Canada the basic necessities are all expensive. Phone bills, grocery bills, rent, insurance are through the roof. Domestic travel is expensive. And the dollar sucks if you want to travel abroad. Health care is free but good luck finding a family doctor or waiting 8 hours in the ER these days. It’s expensive to be poor, or even middle class.\n\n4) Most of the Greater Toronto Area, outside the core, is soulless suburbs with awful transit - very “American” except with worse traffic congestion. You will need a car, which is another huge cost. Row upon row of old cookie cutter suburbs with the same crappy houses. Good luck walking anywhere, and if you do you will need to walk down boring, treeless arterial roads with cars zooming past right beside you, and cross giant eight lane intersections that were never built for humans on foot. In a rainstorm or on a fall evening you have to be really careful not to be run over by aggressive drivers.\n\n5) It is hard to raise a family in an apartment here. You can do it but it’s not very easy, and also you are still kind of judged for it. Lots of young people are feeling stuck and are deferring or avoiding starting a family. Buying any type of house, even a basic townhouse, requires pledging your soul to a bank by taking a massive mortgage with eye watering debt in a volatile market. But few apartment buildings have the kind of sensible gentle density, the family unit sizes and the common amenities, like little courtyards with jungle gyms, that you might find in Europe. No one ever contemplated that anyone would ever desire to raise kids in an apartment. It’s just a cultural thing that has worked its way into how things are planned and designed.\n\n6) The transit system is ok by North American standards but awful by international standards. There are only two real subway lines, one stub line, one line that is permanently out of service after a derailment, and another line that was supposed to open a couple years ago but still has no date for opening. The subways go out of service frequently, sometimes for the dumbest reasons, and then it is a zoo of shuttle buses. The streetcars are nice but so slow. The buses are fine if you find yourself dreaming about riding a daily herky jerky rolling tin of sardines. They are building a lot of transit but it will take decades to get done.\n\n7) There is still a lot of cool multiculturalism and opportunities to experience different foods and cultures - one of the best things about Toronto. Increasingly though it seems to be losing the fun vibe of the 90s, when everyone celebrated each other’s backgrounds and was chill. It seems the immigration is not as broad based anymore and also people are importing a lot of their “old country” grievances here. The immigration system also kind of preys on people abroad by selling them a false fairy tale, so they end up dejected when they arrive and see how things really are.\n\n8) This one might be controversial but it’s kind of an ugly city. There’s nothing particularly of historical meaning or value. Some of the older neighbourhoods are kind of nice, but the last 25 years they have only built giant glass skyboxes, one after another. There aren’t the cool “missing middle” walkups like in NY, Chicago or Montreal (or even LA). There are very few buildings with much architectural character. Some of the buildings they deem “heritage” here are an embarrassment.\n\n9) For safety, honestly on this score I think Toronto is not bad. There are not too many real “ghettos” and it’s night and day compared to much of the US. With that said, there is more vagrancy and social issues these days, with tents and such. It’s very sad but the shelters are full, lots of homeless go into the libraries, parks and transit system. It does make it harder to enjoy these public amenities safely. It is nowhere close to Europe where you might let your kids run free around town. Canadian parents still helicopter their kids and the place again is not designed to really be safe for kids, in the same way as Europe.\n\n10) Finally, a bit of a double edged sword. Toronto had a lot of youthful energy - people coming here from all over. It is definitely not as sleepy as many parts of the world. With that said, it is becoming a bit of a transient place (minus the world class experiences like London or NY). If you are from elsewhere you might find it hard making and keeping friends. I’ve seen lots of people struggle because it’s is hard to build a strong social network. We have a very “shallow” culture here - people are extremely polite but not overly warm and hospitable. We treat one another kind of like neighbours - meaning we’d like to have a cordial, drama-free coexistence and otherwise kind of stick to ourselves.

In Finland the number of the homeless people has decreased to almost non existing when we started to give the homeless small apartments and after that all the support to carry on their lives and to become again a tax paying respectable citizen.\n Finland spends much, much less money than before. \nNoone is sleeping rough. The number of homeless is all the time decreasing.\n\nIf we had not corrected our way of thinking, we would have now tens of thousands homeless persons as the problems seem to get bigger when managed incorrectly.\n\nAs the homelessness is getting worse everywhere in the world and the problems get bigger every single day in spite of all the money spent, it's time to start following everywhere the Housing First method.

India's view is that Vienna convention gives them room to remove diplomatic immunity as India had requested parity and waited weeks for Canada to initiate action before removing immunity. An unanswered question in my mind then is that why does Canada think they will be able to get out of this difficult moment in a strained relationship with India while their diplomats portray India in a bad light with invalid, vindictive, and targeted messaging in diplomatic meetings they are doing with every friend country on earth. That's diplomatic flight with India is on. I think that is a wrong strategy by Canada and they should not bring up this topic with any country, absolutely not in the media, till India closes doors to discuss it. Whether India is right or wrong, this approach would make the difficult moment even more difficult bringing more sufferings to citizens on both sides. It is no brainer - more immigrants imminently return to home countries crashing Canada economy in many ways from education to whole supply-chain. India would also shunt economy growth. Not to mention the government often pays for everything for them for the first year so they think they’ve got it good and suddenly when they can’t get a job, because Canada may not recognize their degrees, then they are struggling again. And sadly, if they are Muslim, sometimes they just don’t want to integrate they just want to live their own ways here, but have a better life in our country, and that’s not fair to us. Who in the hell would now want to immigrate to Canada ? Outrageous housing costs which consume most of your income . One has to work at least two to three jobs just to try to keep from completely drowning economically . A healthcare system which is on life support . It is next to impossible to get a doctor . Emergency waits times at hospitals can range from 4 to 24 hours . Traffic from hell in all of the major cities .... particularly Toronto , Montreal and Vancouver . The crushing cost of living . A political leader who is a complete fool who has basically destroyed the country in just 8 years . As if all of this wasn't bad enough ...... 5 months of winter from hell . Living in Canada is now an extreme struggle in every way imaginable . One will always struggle . One will always work like a dog . One will very likely fall into extreme debt in Canada just to survive . One has to pay outrageous taxes on their income leaving them with about 50% of what they actually earn after they have paid all of the combined taxes on everything that they buy or services that they use . Forget about ever being able to save money . Incomes are about about 35% less than other advanced than those in other advanced countries for the same skilled job . One will never own a home . One will never be able to start a family . One will always freeze in the winter . Life in Canada has become an absolute hell . The Canadian dream is as dead as dead can be . It is no longer a country where one can earn a decent living , own a home and live a good life . On top of all of this it has an authoritarian government which keeps passing new laws to reduce free speech and civil rights .

Now we have to find a way to get the convoy goofs to leave.

tried to get funding from WorkBC for a program.....the lady with an east indian accent told me they prefer to give funding for people who have disabilities and immigrants only....as a born and raised tax paying Canadian i was perplexed by the people i pay with my taxes would treat me as though i'm not even worth being treated like way less important than people who are not even paying into the program im applying for

It’s been 5 years for me here and I honestly can say I have achieved nothing in my life yet. It scares me when I think I can’t return whatever my parents had invested in me. The fact is you’ll never have a good paying job in Canada being an immigrant. When I say this trust me I mean it. Most you’ll get is a minimum wage job which can make you survive the life here. Taxes are high definitely and what I feel is you’re working to make someone else’s life easier. \n(P.S: people who’ve stayed in Canada will understand who I’m implying to)\nNo one wants to be your freind, scope of socializing is zero coz mostly it’s cold round the year so everyone hardly come out, especially in Northern provinces like Yukon, Saskatchewan, Manitoba.\nHealthcare is a joke. If you feel sick and not well and you wanna see a doctor be prepared to wait for hours and hours. I once had stomach infection and I had to wait 5 hours till someone could see me. I asked for painkiller at-least so I could bear the pain but they refused that as well. You might well see someone you love dearly and with whole heart die in-front of you and you could do nothing. (I’ve experienced it myself hence saying)\nYou’re a lone survivor who’ll always keep fighting. \nThe only person who can make money here is businesses and high paid jobs which are reserved to Canadians. That’s how Canada’s job market is. Canadians’ first and if there’s something left they’ll look at you. By the amount of money people invest here they can establish a nice business back in their country itself and earn accordingly on own terms. \nMost importantly you’ll cut yourself from all emotional supports like family, freinds etc.\nI was social person back in India who liked making new freinds and memories but it’s nothing like that here. \nAnd it’s the same life, no different.\nYou wake up, dress, eat, go to work, come back, eat, sleep. Mostly Canadians are nice but again some will systematically judge you and say nothing but you’ll see in their actions, the way they’ll talk in a twisted way etc.\nYes I’m not saying that Canada’s bad or it’s no good but trust me it will take forever to build a life here especially with the number of people moving here from round the world. \nIf you’re well off financially from back home Canada’s a paradise for you. Indeed it’s a beautiful country with lots of beauty and lots to explore but remember everything comes with a cost here. Everything comes with a cost. People need to stop believing in this fake illusion and come only if they got a purpose here. The only reason why they’ll let you in the country is for money and once you’re in you’ll have to keep spending, doesn’t matter if you’re broke or whatever you have to.\nOnce I earn I’ll happily give up my PR status and go back to India as i very well know what the situation is how it’s gonna be in future.\nSo just one piece of advise to every middle class person like me, guys please invest and spend your money wisely coz we know how hard it is to earn and it’s high time Canadians start appreciating what immigrants like us do for them by burning ourselves day and night and start realizing that their past generation once came from some other part of the world as well and settled here. In a way that’s a good Idea, there isn’t enough housing and nobody can afford to buy a family home . If I were a little younger i would also support too go somewhere else, our government is getting worse every year just to stay in step with the EU ,

The problem is that educated workers that come here can't get in to their fields. because we don't recognize those credentials for various reasons. A degree from most parts of the world aren't recognized by any western country, not just Canada. Western standards in most fields are way higher compared to developing countries. Canada has always been a stepping stone for a lot of immigrants who move on to the states once they've gotten citizenship here, mostly for the weather we have here.

Also, the immigrants have destroyed better wages, as they are willing to work for less. Transportation sector hourly wages went way down. 10 years ago a DZ driver could easily make $28-30 an hour. Now he is lucky to get $24.

They get what they want and go back to where their home really is. Including having a Canadian citizenship/passport in case they’re in harms way.

It sucks for Canada.. there is a double whammy here.\n\nThe best immigrants are then leaving Canada - leaving behind the ones who came with no intention of acquiring proper training and education and just wanted a way into Canada for social security and benefits. \n\nI am talking about Khalistanis, Hamas Supporters, Indian students who were too dumb and poor to get admission to Indian colleges, and economic refugees who left their country to reap the benefits of free healthcare and social benefits. \n\nSo, in total, we are losing most of the best immigrants and left behind with those who are NOT going to help Canada grow - instead, they will take up a more significant chunk of Free Healthcare, EI and other social security benefits that we all pay our ARMS and LEGS for. \n\nI blame this all on Trudeau. Under his leadership - anything he has touched has only gone bad. He is like a Cancer for Canada.

Wehre do you want to go? To Europe where are uncontrolled asylum people comming without criminal record checks and sometimes without a passport and getting free monthly money from the governments. Where the payments for skilled worker are bad, and you have to deal with a unfriendly rude sociaty. Even higher taxes. I'm working here as a comercial plumber and im happy here. I had to beginn in the industry as welder because I had to learn english. After 3 years here I'm speaking good english. One thing waht is enjoying that I got permanent Residence last year in summer and we are waiting since may 2022 for or regularly childernbenefits payments. But the CRA are on the way to fix it now finally after many phone calls and sending the permanent Residenc cards 2 or 3 times in. Lots off them how are leaving couldn't make it.
