Dude made up to 10 million, probably more. He only had to pay 900,000 as a penalty and only did 2 years in jail. Well worth it in my opinion. Canadian justice system is a joke. Moral of the story is that crime does pay.  Ranks in 10 million, pays a 900K fine, and spends two years in Jail.  If he puts the 9.1 million left in investments while he is in jail and makes about 5% return, and then ends up out of jail with a little over 10 million again and ready to start another scam.

This is a good reporting job, but the lack of severity of punishment by the government is notable: he made $10,000,000, but was fined $900,000 with 2 years in jail. If this really the only consequence he faced - we're asking for more problems of this kind.

How long ago did these things happen? I thought stamping a passport was obsolete, For the last 10 years or so, my passport for my county is electronic and my (and everyone elses) passport is recorded electronically at the point of entry and examined electronically to ensure the persons face and passport photograph are matched etc. I assumed that this is world wide, but perhaps I am wrong.

This is another example of white collar crime getting a slap on the wrist. Dude makes $10 million dollars illegally and is only fined $900,000 (9 percent of his proceeds of crime) then is sentenced to 7 years in jail and serves only 2. Somebody passes a bogus $300 bank cheque and gets more time than that. It's nice to see that something was actually done but this guy should have been deported with all his assets seized. If he did this in China he would be spending the rest of his life in a prison labour camp.

In America I figure we pay about 50 billion a year for all the above... every year, year in, year out.What does it cost America with the illegals sending unreported earnings out of the country, what does it cost in terms of uncollected government revenues? What does it cost to provide free birth services to 10% of the total population- being illegals getting 'Welfare baby' services? 10 years for only 86% of people to start contributing and/or speak the language... That is not a good thing. You had to go back to the 70's to find a success story too? What does that say about the current situation? Asian Canadians tend to assimilate much better than other groups and it took a group of them a long time to do partially do so. Stop portraying illegal immigrants as victims. I have friends who waited more than 10 years, some even 20, just to migrate to the US. They came from poor countries too, but they still followed the law. And these types of people should stop using their length of stay in the US an excuse not to get deported when they entered illegally in the first place. Also, 15 years in the US and still no English? Immigration should be a a win-win on both the country and the applying immigrant.

Canada has very strict laws regarding immigration, or even just passing through boarders , for example my wife and I are American and we live in Alaska however if you drive from anchorage Alaska to southeast Alaska you have to pass through a Canadian boarder, they didn’t even let my wife pass through because she had a DUI over 10 years ago and she had all her proper documents needed to pass through and no criminal record at all , it was just a DUI for crying out loud, and ps they Canadians are rude

He cant prove he would be persecuted if he went back because he has been in the US illegally for 10 years, of course they would turn down his asylum application, he doesn't have a case for asylum. Please don’t label this guy as an immigrant. He’s not, he’s and illegal alien. 10 years in the US. never learned to even speak English. The Canadians don’t have the resources to look after millions of these so called, immigrants.
