As an American I watched because I wanted a realistic perspective of the issues with immigration from a place that typically loves immigration. I completely agree with the Daniel Bernhard that the real issue (including the US) is the laws and policies put in place that don't allow for what should be a natural growth of the population. Questions should be asked like Why do we not have enough housing, jobs, healthcare, etc. The cost of everything going up is not singularly the fault of immigrants, and stopping immigration will NOT solve those problems.

Well my house to taken over by convicts and out of compassion me and my wife gave them our house, as we didn’t know how absurd the laws are to evict a bad tenant.\n\nI being helpless called police and email PM helpline , housing minister, but nothing happened till 4 months, they destroyed my property, and still owe me 14k rent plus utilities, excluding the damages and property mess they created. \n\nWe were terrified , they had two big rescues dogs and would threat us if we come to ask for house check or rent , they would release the dogs on us. \n\nI still have tenant body order for money claim, but my family suggested to leave and move on . But then i think , they would do the same with what ever place they try to move.\n\nWhy would government not spare out property tax or give the home owner the loss of property amount. \n\nYou miss the tax the government pr bank come after you with all the forces. \n\nIts like the house crises , the government want to say , let the stupid home owners eradicate that issue and them let they suffer from the bad tenants abuse the so called tenant laws. \n\nI know my family had to go through.

Housing has become unaffordable for most new homeowners yet we got all these landlords stocking up on more properties just to make more money for themselves. Yes laws need to be changed so tenants can't abuse it, but laws also needs to be changed so people aren't owning multiple homes while rest can't even afford a primary residence. Like others have said here, most Canadians are not anti-immigration. Most Canadians grew up proud that we live in such a cosmopolitan country. I'm an immigrant to Canada. I've been here for 35 years (came here when I was 6). The current immigration/migration/ayslum seeker rates have gone completely insane. It isn't racist to think it's gone overboard. I went to very very multicultural schools. I grew up in Toronto and have lived downtown for 20 years now. I love our multiculturalism but there are limits to immigration if there simply isn't an infrastructure to support countless hundreds of thousands of people trying to move into the city each year. It's not sustainable at all. The roads aren't getting bigger, the housing zoning isn't getting easier, new hospitals aren't being built. You cannot try and cram 4 million people in a city built for like 2 million people. People moving to Canada simply do not realize just how absurdly expensive this place has become. What's the better alternative being poor in India or being poor in Canada? Because unless you are making 100k a year you are going to basically be poor in Toronto.\n\nThe big big difference as someone who has lived downtown Toronto for 20 years is now the homeless are very multicultural. 10 years ago it wasn't like that as much. Now people from every race and every background are at risk of homelessness. It's a rate race, it's a very competitive city for housing and jobs and as soon as you aren't in making $$$$$ you will fall behind.
