Difference between legit immigrants and international students is that most immigrants are committed to staying long-term and contributing to the society and country. These international students have no such commitments, and they do not integrate. International students take up the jobs that tax-paying citizens used to do such as grocery store checkouts. The Dollar store near me used to hire older citizens but now they are filled with international students who don’t even speak English in the store. So frustrating!\n\nNoooo! Canadians living in Europe or any other country in the world are required to leave, just like they are telling immigrants to leave. Instead of blaming these people, one must question their own government authorities who make the rules and legislation to facilitate this. Maybe it's just the truth of a desperate Canadian economy that needs immigrants to keep fueling the 'aging' Canadian economic engine. These people come in and work hard, odd jobs (not to mention the exceptional skilled ones as well like Doctors, health care workers etc.) which the regular Canadian wouldn't do. I've been in Canada for 2 years without a Family doctor. Thank God, the last 10 different Doctors I met were all fresh immigrants and came to my rescue. Ask your conscience, without these immigrants, you wouldn't be getting your late night coffee at the time Hortons drive thru, no one to take your blood works without you waiting several months in waiting, no ways for universities to subsidize tuition fees for the poorer Canadian students. If immigrants stop coming in, the nice detached home you live in will go down in value, the nice truck you drive will become more expensive, your kids University tuition fees will sky rocket, Canadian companies selling groceries, furniture, etc. Will have lesser revenue and eventually get eaten up be American giants, Canadian companies won't have cheap labour to build those much needed housing. \nNot only question your government, but also question your 'own' people.. Where are they to serve you? Where are the so called patriotic 'original' Canadian Doctors'? They are off to US to earn more money. Toronto is NOT a melting pot. I would say Montreal is a melting pot where all cultures contribute to the French culture. Toronto just has a bunch of different communities coexisting rather than melting in a pot.

These students are from very wealthy families who often have housemaids and servants to do domestic chores and who can afford to pay ridiculous student tuition for a second-rate Canadian post-secondary education. There are top Indian schools where it costs maybe 1/8th the cost and the education is very, very good (e.g. Indian Institutes of Technology) and certainly better than what they are getting in these second-rate diploma mills in Ontario. Moreover, there are very good tech jobs in India in cities like Bangalore. What these students are really after is Canadian citizenship, through a pathway that does not require strong qualifications. They were promised that by Indian immigration consultants. With Canadian citizenship, it is much easier to travel and live in the US, where many of them want to go (and some are even now entering illegally). \nA second reason is that these younger adults want to live independently from their parents. Many of them arriving in Canada are living on their own or with other students, for the first time in their lives, and are enjoying a lot more freedom from Indian social norms such as not being able to date people of a different religion or sexual orientation, or to marry the person of their choice instead of having parents involved. Three or four generations ago, when a lot of immigrants came after WWII, those from India were coming to large research universities or engineering firms and had a job or full fee waiver or university fellowship waiting for them. They were much more qualified and went on to be doctors, professors, business people and other professionals. This is what largely composed the Indian diaspora in Canada, until this wave of students brought along by the current government which admitted over 200K Indian students -- per year.

There's a difference between Race & Culture.

Not just India but specifically from Punjab. Most of them come on trash college degrees and work ubers and other small jobs. They're different from the educated Indians you see in corporates who try to blend into the culture. But can you really blame them? You go to any village in a developing country and offer them this life, they'd be stupid not to take it. Its Liberals and NDP who have facilitated this for their vote bank. The difference between modern mass immigration and immigration of the past is so stark. My great grandfather came over fleeing fascist Italy and built a tile and terrazzo business on blood, sweat and tears. It has employed members of my family the last 4 generations alongside 100's of other employees the past 75 years. They have paid millions in taxes and helped build up the community in a literal and metaphoric sense. \n\nToday, most immigrants are allowed entry to boost profit margins in academia while offering little in terms of viable skills outside of the service industry. What a sad state of affairs.

The true comparison/ difference in earning and saving differences between same job type india and Canada will be huge if a person saves 30 lakhs INR in 30 years working in india compared same period in Canada 3 Cr INR savings minimum. Similarly comparing the quality of food huge differences in Canada will be best food, air , safety, and living conditions. Canada bad is the weather, less/ separation of relatives socializing, and loneliness

This is not about only Indians overwhelmingly overpowering Brampton. You may call this town Mini-India based on your biased perceptions. Peoples looking alike, culturally and socially similar, speaking the same languages feeing safe, comfortable and less challenged and have tendacies to reside together in the same geographical locations.. This applies to all the communities. and this phenomenon exists all over the world. We have little Italies, Chinatowns, Mini Russias, Polands, Ukrains, Irelands, Scotlands, Mexicos flourishing in USA, Europe, Australia and Canada is no different. Our govts need to make deliberate efforts to plan the towns to make more them multi-cultural.

The first differences I noticed when going to the U.S.:\n1. Everything costs less + bigger selections in stores.\n2. Better deals in restaurants: bigger servings, more cheese on pizzas, free drink refills.\n3. American cops and security guards are more suspicious of people.

Indians have a very groupism mentality even within themselves although they are very friendly but for example, a group of Indians who are hindu and vegetarian will not welcome even other non-hindu Indians who may be non-vegetarian to live with them. Sometimes students from same study program also stick together and will not include someone from different program even though they go to the same school. But as a community they look out for each other in that way so chances of seeing immigrant Indians dealing with drugs and other crap that the white people do will be almost non existent. \n\nThe other ethnicities might feel threatened due to over whelming majority of Indians and they group together to voice their concern but those ethnicities are individualistic and don't care about the country or each other. They just get heated up in the moment as they don't see people who look like them. If Brampton was all rich white folks but still with a majority on the streets like San Francisco or NYC doing all sorts of crap , nobody will be complaining or make a big deal out of it. Apparently, that's acceptable.

Canada is a wonderful country for me and my family. I don't know any other country that would be so loyal to foreigners. Perhaps it was easier for me to adapt here, because we are from a European country where Christianity is widespread. We love Canada and embrace its traditions. Winter sports are great entertainment for children and adults. We also celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Canada Day and more. My children quickly adapted to school and I am happy that they like it! The people here are wonderful and friendly, always willing to help. There are so many possibilities! Why do we have such different impressions about this country?

most mass shootings in schools happen in small towns in the US.. we have gun culture here too, literally every person on my street owned guns, we go hunting, we shoot for sport, we have problems with certain wildlife, the difference is we don't allow idiots to own guns, if you want to own a gun you have to go through training, prove you're not stupid, from what i see, you're gun culture attracts allot of stupid people who have been fed and normalized the idea of using guns on their neighbors by the NRA..

My family moved to Montréal from the largest Greek island Crete in 1965 when I was 9 got a great education worked in mechanical/ engineering design 44 years and simultaneously 33 years as media/wedding and sports photographer as I work with top major sports team’s photographer. I’m now retired and thinking after visiting my hometown in Chania Crete the last 6-7 years I have met people that are offering me teaching jobs in AutoCAD tutoring or even night school teaching sports photography as I have a portfolio in many different sports of 40 years .. I’m proud born Greek and never gave up of my goals as I was the only Greek of 2,000 employees for a tool designer and pattern designer for a Pulp and Paper manufacturing company for 10 years in the 80s. Planning to visit again in October 2024 when schools open and kind of give back to my hometown Chania Crete.. life there is very peaceful with 100 meters to 3 beaches where all neighbours are from different parts of the world bought a house or hotel… ??❤️??

Houses in small cities in Canada are much cheaper than houses in the big cities. There is a big difference between Canadians who married Americans, and Americans moving to USA, and Canadians with no ties to USA just picking up and moving!

My friends and I are graduating next week. We are exploring different options to move to USA as well. I refuse to work and not being able to afford a home/ house.
